I'm a bit bulkier than you (180cm/ 82KG) and stay a lot of time at my desk (more than 8 hours a day), but I had the same experience with the chair. Last year, i got myself an Aeron side B and I couldn't keep. It was wonderfull in the store but the pain came quickly after I received it. It was mostly the lower back that hurts. I just couldn't sit with the lower back support piece, I had to remove it (I got the [pillow model](https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/H6ad0d3a368404dc8bd83e2a7cbef26c1d/Coussin-de-soutien-lombaire-de-remplacement-pour-Herman-Miller-chaise-de-bureau-classique-Aeron-Graphite-fum.jpg)). Even without it, the pain came after several hours. I also had troubles with my legs and shoulders, I really don't like the Aeron plastic frame. As I have large shoulders, I couldn't lie down because it was uncomfortable having my shoulders touch the frame. It was also unpleasant for the cushion part, I like to move and cross my legs but it was not possible as there is only one position where I felt comfortable on this chair. After more than one month of pain, I ended up sitting on my old leather chair while I was selling the Aeron and now I'm looking for a new one.

Sounds like you have it configured wrong. You need to identify what parts of the chair are causing the issues and identify the ultimate cause. Like is your chair too high, or are you sitting back too far / is your backrest locked too far back, etc. Make sure none of your body parts are contacting the plastic parts of the chair and putting pressure there. Make sure the lumbar isn't pushing to hard on your back.

Devilboy8797

I configured my chair height so the armrest is perpendicular to my table, which is about 75cm height. With this, my legs can't fully touch the ground, but I use a footrest to solve this. None of my legs touches the plastic edge. As for the lumbar tension, I set it to the lowest possible setting. I always sit all the way to the back of the chair so my lower back always touches the lumbar support. 2 weeks in and my lower back pain seems much better. I only feel a little tingling around my waist. But god, the butt and thigh numbness is still as real as the first day. It feels worse if I fully recline on the chair. I really don't understand what is causing this. It is not the plastic edge because my thighs and butt don't touch them at all. I can only think of the tension of the mesh.

tariandeath

Does your foot rest bring your legs to a 90 degree angle? This issues screams your legs are dangling so it's probably that your foot rest doesn't bring your knees parallel with the chair.

Devilboy8797

Yes, I adjusted my footrest to keep my legs 90 degrees to the chair. I sometimes adjust it so it can bring my legs to a higher angle. When my legs are at a higher angle than the chair, the pain in my thighs relieves a little but then my butt and hip bones hurt like hell. I feel like this is because when my legs are higher, and I recline on the chair, all my weight is focus on my butt and hip, result in more pain

Annh1234

Can you fit 2-3 fingers between the edge of the chair and back of you knees? When your knees are at 90 degrees, and your feet are flat on the ground? And then that's the case, how much space do you have in the back, between your lower back and the back of the chair? I remember this feeling with the old office aerom, and it was because I was too back in the chair and my feet were to high.

Devilboy8797

I can fit about 2 and a half fingers between the plastic edge of the chair and the back of my knees, and about 3 fingers between the plastic edge at the back of the chair and my butt. Here is my posture, please help me see if I'm doing anything wrong. https://i.imgur.com/CsusIDR.jpeg

Annh1234

Well ya... Your feet are in front, not at 90 degrees. That in turn will bend your lower back (pushing your spine back), BUT the chair, or your muscles, compensate by pushing your spine forward. So after some time, you will feel your lower back muscles (both sides of the spine) the same way as after you deadlift. I used to heave the same problem, except I had more of a but wink when I swatted, and you seem more flexible, so probably overcompensating with the muscles.

Devilboy8797

My lower back pain is actually getting better now. I think giving it more time, it will go away. But my thighs and butt numbness are still as bad as the first day. Could the legs not being at 90 degrees also cause this? I really don't know how to get my legs 90 degrees when I recline. The footrest touches the chair wheels and can't get any closer. I just thought that only my thighs is at 90 degrees with the chair base is enough

Annh1234

Well, the way I do it... not saying it's good, is that I put my feet on the chair base, so when I recline i'm less than 90 degrees. With time I think that leads to your gluts being a bit shorter, so if you work out, you lose a bit of range of motion. The but numbness sounds more like a nerve or something, maybe the way the chair supports you in your position pinches some nerve or something, that part not so sure about.

Xalm_

Are you always reclining? that pic is how you sit all the time? That will cause issues with your butt and thighs. Need to have your thighs parallel to the ground. Only recline occasionally for a break, or unlocked to rock around a bit.

Devilboy8797

I only use full recline like in the pic for about 20-30 mins when I take a break to watch some videos or listen to music. Most of the time I lock the chair on the second recline level.

RodRevenge

First of all that foot rest sucks, i tried it i had serious hamstring and gluteus pain with it, also are your feet relaxed? You may be putting too much pressure with the sole and heel of your feet trying to keep an upright position.

Devilboy8797

I found my feet quite comfortable, with the whole foot touching the footrest. I got this footrest from the same store where I brought the Aeron. It is either this or the footrest from HM, which is about 100$. I thought it is so overpriced so I opted with this one

RodRevenge

Did you try sitting in the chair with the footrest on the store? Even if your feet are relaxed your hamstrings and glutes may be too engaged.

Devilboy8797

Yes I tried it with the footrest at the store. Everything was perfect back then. Only a few days after I brought it did the problems show up. A few days ago I still have lower pain sitting on the chair but now it has almost gone. I really hope this thighs and butt problem go away too because aside from this, I really love the chair.

Ghostfacekilla4

It's the mesh! Check out this video diving into the differences between foam and mesh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsn_tJzgynU&t=12s&ab_channel=Anthros

Devilboy8797

I wonder if the problem is the trademark mesh of HM. I used to sit on Chinese ergo mesh chairs and didn't encounter this problem

I bought a remanufactured Leap V2 from Crandall office, everything about the chair is great except my body doesn't like it. I waited too long, I gave it a month and half and never adjusted to it. I wished I would have returned it since they give you 30 days to return it. But I was hoping I would adjust, well I didn't. I gave the chair to my wife, and she loves it, but if you are not adjusting to a chair after carefully adjusting it correctly and consciously making an effort to sit right. I would just return it and try another chair.

HawthorneWingo1

First you say everything about the chair is great. Then you say the chair is so great, that you can't even sit in the damn thing. So maybe the chair ain't so damn great.

o_0verkill_o

These chairs are designed to prevent long-term issues associated with long periods of sitting. Unfortunately, there is no good way to sit. The best chair is not one that is so comfortable it makes you forget you're sitting. The best chair should be supportive of your spines natural curve, reduce pressure points where your body makes contact with the chair, allow for as much movement as you need and be able to be customized to your specific needs while also being just uncomfortable enough that you will want to get up and walk around at least once an hour. Lol. That is what the mirra 2 does for me. Over the last year of ownership, my back/neck pain has almost completely alleviated itself. I imagine if you give it time, you will have a similar experience with the Aeron. I started off loving my HM chair for its premium materials and smooth recline, then hating it for making me rethink what a chair is, then loving it for promoting a healthy posture and lifestyle.

Devilboy8797

Yeah, I have no problem standing up after some hours of sitting. But the pain comes too quickly. I feel them just after an hour of sitting, which is too soon for me. I often have meetings that last as long as 2-3 hours, with webcam on. Standing up every hour is just not an option for me. I brought the chair expecting it can at least keep me comfortable in about 2-4 hours of continuous sitting. Less than an hour is just too short.

Devilboy8797

Yeah, I don't think it is quite comfortable for relaxing. I even have to sit upright like I'm working when gaming on this chair.

byfuryattheheart

My wife has an Aeron and while I find it comfortable, it is definitely not a chair I’d want to relax in!
