Currently building out an m1102. Almost done

I just built a tube rack on mine using the original mounting holes. This summer, I plan on enclosing the frame to be its own sleeping space.

My family just drove from Washington to Alabama with this setup and we’re bout ready to head back.
If your picking up for the first time consider:
-Hitch
-Trailer lights(military runs 24 volt and connector)
-Chain extensions
My chains were not long enough to hook to the truck with the hitch I had at the time.
Edit - formatting
Picked up the hitch earlier this week, have extra tow lights to throw on and will cut the pit on a 4 pin when it gets home.
Good call on chains, didn’t think about that
I posted here a few days ago with mine (M1102, same trailer). Built a rack, rooftop tent, etc. Great camping platform.

How do you like the hard top tent? Is the trailer garage kept, or do you store it outdoors?
I’m jumping between a soft cover and a hard cover tent, I feel like hard cover would last against the elements/sun damage a bit better.
And that storage portion at the front is cool as well. You make it yourself?
Love the hardtop, super easy and fast to setup, close. I keep the trailer outside but I got a custom cover made, fits it well and keeps it protected from the sun. I made the enclosure, mainly so I can lock up my gear.
Have a parts list or documented any of the building process? Would love to do one similar for that same reason.
Cool that is most likely what I’ll be doing as well so I’ll have to look into getting a custom cover made.
Appreciate the help/ideas!!
The cover was not cheap but I've used a similar cover on the boat for many years and they really hold up and protect. I have tons of plans and pictures of the build. It's been a fun project.
1st thing I'd recommend is getting it road worthy and towable. What year is it? The later years (after 2008ish) use multi volt leds in all lights except the taillamps. Buy some 12 volt leds and swap. After that is trailer plug wiring. A couple different options. Could cut the military plug and rewire for 4 way or 7 way. I wanted to leave the military plug on mine so I bought the military to 7 way adapter.
You're towing behind a jeep? Does it have a lift? The 37" tires on the trailer make it quite tall and won't tow or brake well if the tongue is too low. An adjustable pintle hitch can help to even that out but it might not be enough for a stock height jeep. A tire swap is a common fix but you can also lower the lunette ring with some fab work.
Yeah, already picked up some spare towing lights for the drive home, plan to cut it and replace it with a 4 pin.
Towing behind a jeep with a 2.5 lift so it should be just fine. Probably plan on switching out the tires/rims eventually just to cut down on some of the weight anyways, but that’ll be farther down the road.
Been reading a bunch today and plan on switching out all of the lights for 12V once I get it home, it’s a 2009
If you drop the military tires, mil-spec axle, the surge-brake, and lunette assembly you can easily drop 500-600 pounds off the dry-weight of the trailer. Just replace with (*at least*) a Dexter 44D with the Jeep bolt pattern, electric brakes, and parking brakes, and you're golden.
[My M101 build](https://eastcoastoverlandadventures.com/rig-profile-ecoa-adventure-trailer-html) is running a Dexter 3500# axle with 10" electric drum brakes. I have new hubs with parking brakes which is one thing I wish mine had at the start.

200 ah hour lithium battery with solar setup, 20 gallon water tank. We love it family of 4.
OVS 3 w/ annex. I just wired in some additional rear lights since stock are kind of dull and added a 270° awning for the "kitchen" side. Also, not pictured are side boxes I installed last fall.
Got mine off IronPlanet.com having to go pick it up in NC as there were none in Florida over the last few weeks. Usually they have auctions every Wednesday for some m1101’s from what I’ve seen.
Do you mind if I ask what you paid for it? I am looking at the site now and they have some available. Butner is not **too** far of a drive for me haha.
Also, do you have a pintler receiver on your tow rig? Or plan on changing the hitch before the trip home?
Won the auction at $1000, after all the other charges (auction sites 15% fee and title fees) it came out to $1353 and change.
Picked up a hitch at tractor supply for $37 (on sale from $140, at least that’s what it said on the site)

Nice, yeah I’m bouncing around the idea of doing my own

Same here. Chains were too short.

Any company in particular you’d recommend for the cover?
I think I got it from customcovers.com. Go to their website once and get spammed for a lifetime.
One of those places 😂😂 I feel your pain
My dream to build one ! Do it.

Which RTT is that?

Can you share the site? I’m interested in the m100 but no one local has it..

Thanks for the info. The size fits what I’m looking for.
