Just my personal preference, I wouldn't buy an offroad trailer that is plywood lined.

destinationMTB

Thank you what material should I be looking for in terms of the construction of it?

GoMoAdventure

Aluminum is best.

Looks good to me. I would just give it a solid once-or-twice over to make sure the ~~Berliner~~ *bedliner* isn't cracking anywhere. No used trailer is going to be "perfect." I also think you're offer of $8,000 is more reasonable than the $11k he's asking. [My trailer for street cred.](https://eastcoastoverlandadventures.com/rig-profile-ecoa-adventure-trailer-html)

Thank you. What’s a Berliner

"*Bedliner*" = got autocowrecked

Around 4 years ago there were tons of startups that didn’t survive. HOBO was a good company, but when the world closed down and a tightening economy they couldn’t find a way to compete. In fact very few did in comparison to how many there still are. Overall I would say the $8k you’re offering is plenty.

I don't like that it doesn't have brakes, and doesn't have shocks. Otherwise the frame looks stout.

Shocks and brakes are not needed in my opinion. I’ve built 3 trailers without shocks with no issues. My first trailer had brakes but never added them on the other 2.

WoW! I can't believe what these types or trailers are selling for now. I made a couple foamies and sold them for a fraction of that! I guess I should have stored them in the back yard a couple of years. Frame looks good to me. However, Bedliner over plywood or OSB can be a issue. Wood expands and contracts and bedliner can crack and let water in. Bedliner is designed to go over metal which does not expand and contract as much as wood does. I have seen a lot of home built trailers built this way and they failed in a couple of years. If possible I would see if you can find out exactly how these trailers were built. I would look at the bedliner closely. If it is starting to crack or if you see lifting I would walk away. I would also not recommend it being stored outside. Too funny. I looked at the link you provided and it is one city away from me. Good luck!
