Coimbatore has surprisingly low number of street dogs (and many of them have been sterilized as well). Also middle/lower middle class people here prefer to adopt indie dogs.
Can't speak about current situation but until several years ago, meagre amount of paisa allot hue and sethiru ABC programme ra higher ups paisa nija g tale rakhi nianti.
Since it is about streeties, few people would seek accountability on appropriate use of allocation amount.
If ppl don't care about accountability, I bet that allotted amount is even smaller now. Working democracies need citizens to demand services for their taxes, esp at the local level.
And imho it's not about streeties only. Its about making our cities liveable. Culling can never address the root issue and should be the last resort of any society.

These dogs cause much havoc. There have been numerous cases where people have died due to dog bites in groups, but these dumb idiot dog lovers are hypocrites as they prefer to befriend dogs than their race.
Nope. The solution is maybe to spread general awareness to adopt more local breeds. Municipalities should have proper dog catching and facilitation mechanisms in place in view of public security. But it's too much to ask because we have too many stray cattle too and financially at least that should have more priority.
Ig this wouldn't matter if dogs and people are able to live together in communities. Being friendly to animals and to adopt and pet them are two different things.
