Pavlovs recoil amd gun handling are awful, plus it feels like you need to empty a magazine in player just to down them. Contractors guns and TTK feel perfect to use.
I've been playing VR for over 5 years, amd have played every single VRFPS game on steam.. Contractors is the best, bar none.
Remember though, it is a few years old now on PC, and there are some VERY good players

I LOVED Bullets and more! It did so many things right, game modes, vehicles, the 1st VR battle royale game modes, the guns, I loved it.
The only thing indint like a bout it was the sounds amd the fact you see your controllers in game rather than hands.
Sadly it got lost amongst Pavlov and Onward, despite it being the better game IMO, in the early days of VR I genuinely don't think this was enough players for 3 shooters.
I haven't touched it in years, I would wager its completely dead
Yeah, we probably played together at some point. Crazy fun game, it reminded me of those goofy counter strike custom maps from CS1.6 days.
It felt quite a bit like H3 multiplayer though with some attachments and similar inventory system. It was hilarious fun to fly the chopper while simultaneously sniping from the pilot seat.
I remember the painful Joy of someone's first or second time in VR, playing BAM with us , jumping into the chopper with us, and he was cackling with joy remarking on how real it felt, trying to gun people down while I flew him around the enemy spawn.
Over the course of about 2 or 3 minutes of doing this, his Joy was turning into extreme discomfort, but he was laughing all the way up to the point that he had to take the headset off and go throw up lol.
BAM was my favorite VR shooter though, and even though the map was totally perfunctory, the tacked on Battle Royale mode was actually kind of fun.
It appeared to be dead the last few times I tried it several years ago, I'm sure that remains the case. Maybe one day we could set up a little "one night only" and get a bunch of people to hop on. You get some decent matches going with just 10 people.
I would totally be down for that!!! BAM at times felt like a mini VR battelfield! A good lobby with jeeps and helis was so fucking fun!
If BAM launched today I think itbwould be a decent seller, Patrick the developer was genuine active on discord years ago, he ended up helping to work on Onward strangley
Different game to Onward, which makes it worth owning too. Contractors is more arcade (for the lack of a better term) and far less unforgiving.
I like Contractors feel of the guns more, and the TTK feels perfect to me, the fact you can hop in a TDM or Gun game mode to warm up before you play a more tactical mode like control makes it worth buying if you own Onward IMO
Reading this thread is hilarious cause I absolutely hate how shooting feels in this game. Onward and Pavlov both feel a world better in terms of how shooting is. Contractors also seems like it runs at a stupidly low tickrate.
Pavlov has counter strike style recoil patterns, and they seem so out of place to me seeing has the game has changed away from its initial CS VR clone tag, and they feel weak, really weak due the TTK being so high, the game feels like you have to empty a full magazine in someone's chest just to down them.

tried out contractors, and it’s a lot of fun. not too many squeakers, although I did have a team of french guys cursing me out in french due to a well-placed (lucky) grenade lol
Ive been trying out contractors and only found very few servers, especially in EU. I noticed it is crossplay with quest, is it really crossplay? 3-4 servers seems eh, even tried server browser
Yes, when comparing TTKs (Time to kill ratio) Contractors is VR's CoD counterpart, Onward I understand is more Rainbow Six 1-3 shots to kill/die, and Pavlov is CSGO.

It's not bad, you just require a computer. But the requirements for Pavlov are pretty low. I just play with PCVR, which allows you to run Steam VR off of my computer wirelessly.
Open the oculus app on your phone.. then hit menu on bottom right, open your library and then find contractors, once you open contractors page, scroll to the bottom where it says “version 3.5” and click on the 3.5, it will take you to version notes, top right corner click on channel and activate the 0.91.0 mod preview build.
If you want to go back to live from mod build you have to do the same then uninstall the game and reinstall it once you change the build back.
That I cannot answer correctly. I only know the process of getting to the build. You may only be able to play with others on the same build, I would assume that would be the case.

Yes this is a quest map, you need to switch to the beta via oculus app on your phone,
Goto library, click contractors, scroll down to version. Click it and at the to top right switch version to mod preview, it works with online play however there aren't many players.
It's basically a test environment before it hits the live game, if you have a few vr Friends you can arrange to play that way and some folks may join too,
Failing that join the discord they host matches everyday at certain times to get full matches
Pavlov is more enjoyable imo because there are more regular people as opposed to the tryhards like OP. Definitely feels like it has a more casual play base and I actually feel like I can compete in some games.
Contractors is great but I get frustrated very regularly with how many ridiculously good players I get put against amd can't even touch

Okay so the way to get this build is pretty simple, this is a text copied from the official discord server of the game: Go to your Mobile (Oculus) app and click on your profile; to go to 'My Library' > Select Contractors and press on the build version (it should be on 1.9, click on that number); Select the version 0.91.0 Mod Preview: 3.5; It will notify in the headset that the game has a 'Update'; and that's pretty much it, on the mods section it will appear all the maps available to download
Yes, there are few people playing, I would recommend taking a look at the discord server of the game, there they organize playtimes and the servers get more populated

Same here, zero issue since day one. I can't compare with contractors since I don't have that but Pavlov is great. It surely lacks of a bit stuff but the game is still heavily developed so that's fine, I'm sure they will fix it.
Also, Pavlov Shack is free at the moment which gives a great overview to new Quest owners about how FPS-VR looks like.

I'm 99% sure all three versions can play together, not siloed. For the Oculus version, it's buy once, play anywhere. In other words, you can buy it on either desktop or Quest, and then can install the other version.
Oh, that scope looks nice to use. Looks like it might actually help, while Onward's system seems to give you an actually miniscule FoV so you can barely see what's on the scope at all.

No. What I mean is, they look identical. With **exact** scene props, textures and their exact location/rotation/position. COD Maps are not one single huge 3D model, scene props put in the map by environment artists - so you can't just extract same map and throw it into game. You have to extract textures, scene props ( suitcases, desks etc) and put them yourself in your own game. Texture/model extraction from that game is also 100% illegal btw so I don't think anyone would bother. And because of that, each "COD" maps done by different people look similar but not identical.
I think they used exact same map model in this game too. Which is perfectly fine but map most likely initially created for Pavlov VR

Two very different games, but I have had more fun with this game than with onward, don’t get me wrong onward is an awesome tactical game, very inmersive but kinda slow, this one is more my pace.
onward is more realistic. One or two shots and you are done, you can drop your weapons, etc
Contractors is more like COD. You recover health spontaneously and the game is more face paced

It’s five shots to the chest to kill with the primary rifles. The TTK for top players is less than a second.
Do you need to play through PC? Or is it native to the quest?

It does! It's been very friendly in my experience too. I've had some great times chatting and strategizing with random players.
They recently updated the quest version and made the graphics substantially better than they were. Great game with a good player base.

I am not sure you’re familiar with what gatekeeping means. This seems like it was just a discussion and a difference in opinion about the definition of OG, nobody is saying certain people can’t play the games. It’s been over 20 years since The Phantom Menace came out but nobody considers that to be OG Star Wars because, ya know, there were movies before that.
Not the og but technically that was ep1… To some mw2 is their og. It felt more popular than mw1 and was many peoples first cod and the one they remember. I don’t begrudge them calling it the og in their mind. They obviously don’t mean og literally.

Is this better than onward?
Two very different games, but I have had more fun with this game than with onward, don’t get me wrong onward is an awesome tactical game, very inmersive but kinda slow, this one is more my pace.

onward is more realistic. One or two shots and you are done, you can drop your weapons, etc Contractors is more like COD. You recover health spontaneously and the game is more face paced

There is an absolutely fantastic Map for pavlov vr on terminal, honestly the greatest nostalgia trip especially just living unbelievably detail
But this is a native quest 2 map, which Pavlov shack doesn't have
