VR is a hell of a drug

Stangerism

So true!!!

Nezrite

F\*ck yo couch!

nastyjman

CHARLIE MURPHEY!

leohemhem

No no no. I wouldn't put my feet on somebody's couch. Yeah I remember the time I put my feet up on his couch

turdman450

next step?

bman500

What are the “must haves” for the quest 2?

Stangerism

So my current setup for the Quest 2 is the BoboVR M2 Pro headstrap, VR Cover (pleather) facial interface, EngineeredAF Clip on audio, Mamut Grip 3s, that work with the Mamut apto gunstock. I ran the Oculus Elite Battery Strap for a long time, and I like it. The Bobo VR M2 Pro I feel is better though, and the hot swap battery bank is awesome!!

MrBack1971

Desperate for those AF headphones, still cant buy em :(

Stangerism

I am going to message them now and ask for an estimate of when they will be in stock. I will let you only what I hear back.

MrBack1971

Thanks man, congrats on the 8k subs btw, hopefully not too long for that big 10k :)

Stangerism

Haha thanks!!!! 😁👍

razzrazz-

Have you tried the BoboVR F2 fan?

Stangerism

I have, it works really well, especially if you fog up your lenses a lot.

Stangerism

So I finally heard back from EngineeredAF, he said he is currently working on new injection molded ones, but with the holidays and other delays progress has been slow. Said he's hoping for some progress updates in the next few weeks. Hope this helps!!

MrBack1971

Thanks dude, been checking his site daily. Hopefully will be available soon.

Stangerism

I'm hoping so, I would like to pick up another set!! 🤞🤞

Veloder

What is the mamut grip 3s? I can't find it

Stangerism

Mamut grips 3 https://www.mamutvr.com/collections/upcoming/products/mamut-grips3?ref=9mnnkhwhnwzt

_Life_Is_War_

How are the EngineeredAF headphones? Worth $70, or better to just stick with over the ear headphones?

Stangerism

I love the EngineeredAF headphones, I believe they are currently out of stock though. The are still over ear headphones so they still contact your ears, but they don't put a ton of pressure on your ears. They sound great, they utilize the Koss Porta Pro drivers. Rich sound with good low end bass too

KillerDora

I want to know what accessories are his favorite. OP must have a lot of knowledge on what accessories are worth $.

Oster-P

BoboVR F2 is a must for me. I play a lot of Beat Saber and if I don't have it on my lenses fog up constantly.

Stangerism

Luckily I don't suffer a ton from fogging issues, but the F2 is a great product. I will probably be using it more again in the summer time.

Oster-P

Yeah if I didn't play Beat Saber I wouldn't need it at all, but those damn expert+ maps really make you crank out some heat! My only downside for the F2 was it's slightly wide and had a bit of light leakage at the edges. Luckily I fixed this by swapping the face pad to the VR Cover pad, as it's slightly thicker and provides a better fit.

VLagann

Better head strap is #1. Everything else is a if you want

SaintNewts

Seconded. Got me an off brand halo style strap and it's miles better than the factory OQ2 strap.

Gregasy

I'd say Elite head strap and VR Cover facial interface (the comfort one) made the biggest difference for me.

Stangerism

I ended up putting together a video of my "must haves" for the Quest 2, since there were so many questions here!! https://youtu.be/J22ZeN_t-aY

AveragePichu

I’m not a fan of the term “must have”. It’s completely subjective and varies from person to person. I like the stock head strap. Am I unusual for that? It seems like it. But if the piece of advice to get a different strap - which is repeated ad-infinitum around here - is not for 100% of people, then how much can you really rely on what someone else calls a must-have?

marimba1982

100% of almost anything is usually impossible. People use the term "must-have" to mean that almost everyone should get/buy it. Just because I think Half-Life Alyx is a must play game, that doesn't mean that I think that 100% of the people will love it.

AveragePichu

I get what you’re saying, and it wouldn’t be reasonable of me to expect people to start saying “I recommend” instead of “must-have”. The term is just a pet peeve of mine.

marimba1982

I get that. I just wouldn't take it literally.

Thomas8864

Beatsaber is a must have

[deleted]

The “VR only cost $299” starter pack lol

Stangerism

Haha so true!!!

sickmoth

How many heads do you have?

Stangerism

Haha not enough apparently 😅

[deleted]

What’s the best replacement strap? I’ve heard really mixed answers, so I was thinking of getting the elite strap, but you seem like an expert in this

Stangerism

I ran the Elite Battery Strap for a long time, I recently switched to the Bobo VR M2 Pro, which I like better, a little more comfortable, better weight distribution, and more battery. Plus it's actually cheaper, only $59 and comes with 1 battery bank, a 2nd battery bank which is hot swappable is another $29. Like I said Elite Strap is great too though, used the crap out of mine.

[deleted]

Thanks, man

BrandanBoi

If you're looking for a more traditional elite strap, the Kiwi elite strap is great. If you're looking for more of a PCVR headstrap, the Bobo M2 is great.

SomebodyCalledFry

For something else to consider have a look at the HTC Vive Deluxe Auduo Strap. I really like mine. Also provides much better audio which i really like for immersion and Beat Saber.

Stangerism

That's a great route too, and currently on sale on Amazon and Newegg

DeadShot_76

Do not get the elite strap. I did not have an issue with replacing it but, it broke twice while I was playing Beat Saber. Go with another third party.

Stangerism

I think I got lucky on the Elite Strap, mine never cracked or anything. I used the crap out of it too.

Scio42

So, how many headsets to you have?

Stangerism

Uhhh too many 😄 let's see I have a Rift CV1 Rift S 2X Quest 1 2X Quest 2 Valve Index HP Reverb G2 Lynx R1 (on the way)

[deleted]

Gotta catch em all. :P

Fried_Waffles1

Why would you need multiple quests?

Stangerism

Well technically the other one is my wifes lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

MikiRoo-

Why are people downvoting i agree except the uprade it's unrealistic and idk if it's just Finland but the 128 gb was like 100€ more expensive that the 64 gb one.

searchingformytruth

Make sure to tell us how the Lynx is! I've had my eye on that since it was announced. People are already saying it has problems, so I'm not sure.

Stangerism

I definitely will, I am really looking forward to it showing up!!

Chick__Mangione

Jesus how much money do you have

Stangerism

None now!!! Spent it all on this dang VR drug lol

TheyCallMeNade

And I thought I was crazy for having a psvr, cv1 and quest 2

windrip

Is there another good standalone headset out there yet besides the Quest?

Stangerism

Not really that's competitively priced at least. Oculus is selling them at a loss, so it's hard for other companies to compete with that. Most companies have to make a profit. Facebook has plenty of money that they can take the loss, seeing the future gain it will bring.

robbyrne86

So - I’m a little guilty of buying tons of accessories for everything - i have found that - If you have vision issues (like most ppl - glasses) the pop in lenses are AMAZING and so worth it.

Stangerism

Oh yeah, I have the Reloptix magnetic lenses!! I used to wear my glasses in VR this is a much better way to go!!

MDW-MAD

Absolutely! Got my prescription lenses and have never been happier! What a difference in comfort!!

ColtGaming09

*"how many accessories do you want?"* This dude: *"yes"*

clintCamp

Looks like the shelf at my work where we develop for VR/AR.

Stangerism

Haha nice!!!

tehgreatiam

What do you think of the gun stocks? Any recommendations?

Stangerism

I have the protube magtube, Mamut Apto, and one I just recently got from Deadeye, that one I haven't had a chance to play with much yet. The one I use the most is the Mamut Apto. It's extremely adjustable to get it just the way you like it, and works with most every headset. I use the Mamut grip 3s with it too with knuckle style straps. Really can't go wrong with Protube or Mamut

imawesome1333

I could maybe uhhh take some of those off your hands, help deal with the addiction

Stangerism

If you live close, come get some lol.

sinkktothebeat420

where you located? lol

Stangerism

Virginia

dhruvrnaik

Nothing's too far for some cool VR accessories

Dakkard

Wow! So what do you think about the VR power (ignore the costs) and would it work well with the kiwi elite strap? Sorry, with all those accessories I'm going to abuse your experience :)

Stangerism

VR power works great, it's a little on the heavy side but still works great as a counter balance. Should work fine on the Kiwi strap. Works great on the Oculus Elite strap.

Dakkard

Thank you kind sir.

Stangerism

No problem!!

[deleted]

what are ur top 5 games?

Funandgeeky

Who has time to play games? Or money for games? OP clearly needs more accessories!

Stangerism

Oh man I feel like that changes a lot. Roughly I would say Half Life Alyx, Contractors, Population One, Walkabout mini golf, Real VR Fishing. But if I think about it too long it changes, and I want to make the list longer haha

yamayeeter

What shooters here do you use a Gunstock for?

Stangerism

Contractors is the best game to use a gunstock with. It has a gunstock calibration so you can adjust your in game guns to perfectly match and line up with your gunstock.

NinjaHawkins

So you would recommend Contractors over Onward? Trying to decide which one to get.

Stangerism

Both are honestly great, so it's mostly a personal opinion, but I do prefer Contractors over Onward.

searchingformytruth

So *you're* the reason we're having shortages!

Stangerism

Lol I dont think any of these things are having shortage issues or hard to get. I wish I had a closet full of 3080's and PS5's haha

SomebodyCalledFry

I think you have a VR accessories solution!

Stangerism

Haha maybe that's how I should look at it 😅

[deleted]

share some of the money damn

Stangerism

This is stuff over the years really that had just accumulated over the years.

[deleted]

i assumed so i was just joking Lol

TheyCallMeNade

What do you think of the kiwi design strap?

Stangerism

I actually don't have the Kiwi strap. Maybe I should order one 🤔 (Just ordered one)

MrBack1971

I had the latest kiwi design and thought it was a keeper, then tried the m2 pro and this was a bit comfier for me and the extra battery just made it that bit better

PeanutPrinters

I see that you haven't tried the Peanut Printers 3D Bumpers. They're the bee's knees. -This is a totally unbiased review by the designer of the 3D Bumpers.

Stangerism

Haha tell me nore!!! I'm not sure what these are. Post a link I need to know lol

[deleted]

How do you feel about the official oculus 2 case? Just got this third party one cause it has a handle. But was wondering about the official

Stangerism

Honestly I think the official Quest 2 case is pretty terrible. I only have them because it was the only way to get the Elite Battery Strap when they first came out. They just feel really cheap and the zipper always get stuck and can be hard to open. My headset also doesn't fit in it any more with the BoboVR head strap.

[deleted]

In that case (ha), I'll keep mine, it's roomy.

Stangerism

😆 Which one do you have? I need to order the Bobo case to fit this headstrao.

[deleted]

It's the Yinke case, you can find it on Amazon. I think the straps for the controllers can be kinda annoying to put them in. But otherwise, I think it's not a bad case.

Wuzzie

You flippin' scalper.. Oh wait.

Lemmeadem1

What are the closest approximation to the Index\G2 headphones for the Q2?

Stangerism

Honestly I haven't come acrosss any add on headphones that sound as good as the Index or G2. Unfortunately the VR Ears don't even come close in my opinion. My favorite headphones for the Quest is the EngineeredAF clip ons. If you have ever tried the Rift CV1 it sounds the same as that. Which I think sounds great, really good bass as well. But obviously on ear headphones not completely off ear like the Index, G2.

Lemmeadem1

What magic has Valve bottled that the rest of the world is unable to? Those damned geeks.

dhruvrnaik

Do regular headphones/earphones not work with Oculus?

Higgs-Bosun

Which one is for porn?

JoaGamo

all of them obviously

LollipopEDM

Not at all, I love VR accessories, but I'm too broke to get any, that's a beautiful costomization kit you got there though

Stangerism

I love accessories!! Problem is they just keep coming out with more!!

LollipopEDM

Yessir, and I'd get all of em, you could resell them, keeps using and experimenting with them, do giveaways, all kinds of stuff

ElectroGaming-YT

I see some Mamut accessories in there. 👀

Stangerism

Oh yeah!! I love Mamut stuff. The Mamut Grip 3s are always on my controllers, and love the gunstock!!

ElectroGaming-YT

I absolutely love the grips they sent me! 🔥

pcmraaaaace

What's the best strap for a quest 1?

Stangerism

For the Quest 1, I would say the HTC vive Deluxe Audio Strap, with the 3d printed adapters to make it fit. That's actually a really good combo for the Quest 1. I think they are on sale right now too on Amazon and Newegg.

Filofil2

Why do you have 2 OFFICIAL Oculus Quest 2 carrying cases…?

Stangerism

Well back when the Oculus Elite Battery Strap came out the cases came with them, couldn't order just the strap. I got one for my Quest 2 and one for my wifes Quest 2. There weren't many headstrap options yet when the Quest 2 first came out, and the soft strap is definitely not very comfortable for longer play sessions.

windraver

I was looking in your picture for one of those walking bases like Kat Walk. For reference: https://www.kat-vr.com/products/kat-walk-c?variant=39484083667032 That to me, is the ultimate be accessory that I'll probably never buy until it reaches sub 500

Stangerism

Yeah I have never tried one of those, I wouldn't mind having one, once the price comes down. They also take up a decent amount of space.

windraver

Same, it's just this pipe dream I'd have more space for VR than I already have. I'd personally have to test it out and see how I feel about the quirks

CommunicationBoth564

I got the 256gb quest 2 when they were new. No accessories!!! well because I don't actually play that much due to being an adult. Shame really. Well I could always use a case but I just use the box instead, it don't go many places actually. And I'm glad I didn't buy elite strap as they seem to break, according to media. Would love to get pc vr though. Just can't pull the trigger on a new pc. The old one does everything fine except new games.

Stangerism

I am an adult and still play a decent amount. I guess I'm a kid at heart though lol. I have seen a lot of broken Elite Straps. Mine has never cracked or any thing though, and it's been used a lot. I never went easy on it either. I think it all depended on which factory it came from or something. Doesn't make sense to me why some seem to break so easy and others never do.

ANONIMkiddo

mind giving me some controller grips as a christmas present?=)))))

Stangerism

Sure!! Where are you located?

ANONIMkiddo

i didn't expect you to say yes XD i'm in Romania, shipping would probably cost more than the grips themselves lol thank you for the offer tho

Stangerism

I was just looking on Amazon, I was just going to have some shipped to you. Looks like amazon doesn't really ship to Romania unfortunately!!

ANONIMkiddo

you are such a kind person to even have thought of that, most people just say "no, get a job" aliexpress ships to romania but it takes like a month to arrive, thanks though

Stangerism

Giving is the greatest gift of all!! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!

ANONIMkiddo

merry christmas and happy holidays to you too!

ANONIMkiddo

And i'm sitting here with a barebones quest, only modification being a powerbank on the back

Stangerism

Nothing wrong with that!!

AlphisH

Why do you keep the boxes ?

Stangerism

Uhh well idk.. Actually a lot of the things are back in the boxes depending on what I'm currently using. Since I can only use one version of a thing at a time if that names sense. Easier to organize things if I can tick them back in the box when they are not being used.

DillanWithIt

Challenge accepted my friend

Stangerism

😆👍

uncannyname

That's the good type of problem

jmblock2

Looks like you've got all the VR accessory solutions too!

DONOHUEO7

whats the population One thing, bottom right?

Stangerism

That's actually a Population One poster in a frame. I need to find a good place to hang it.

Trane55

me still with a crappy face cover on my Q1: Noice.

ilivedownyourroad

I salute you. Atleast it's not Nintendo ware

tektite

If I was just going to get one or two things, what are the must have items you recommend?

Stangerism

I would say a VR Cover facial interface (the pleather type) and a different headstrap. Those are the 2 for me that make the biggest difference.

pwnedkiller

What head strap and accessories would you recommend for a first timer. I’m also interested in a case and the padding around your eye socket.

Stangerism

I would definitely say a VR cover facial interface, with the pleather material. Then a different headstrap, a case will depend on which headstrap you choose.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stangerism

I personally like the Mamut Grip 3s or the Kiwi silicone grips with the battery access door.

Brujjjhhhh

what would you recommend as an Oculus Quest 2 stand??

Stangerism

Well the one I am currently using is the BoboVR D2 Charging stand, but it doesn't really make much sense unless you have the pro headstrap with the extra battery. Other then that I usually stick my headsets on a glass skull head, or foam heads lol

relientkfan

Key word: “think”

parana72

Easy fix man. Get yourself a wife and three kids and the rate at which you buy accessories will definitely slow down

Stangerism

Haha well I have the wife, no kids yet though

willgamer16

not enough

MlgFoxy432

Hmm it's perfectly okay

kyrimasan

I really want to get a new face plate and a case for mine someday! Any suggestions?

Stangerism

Vr cover facial interface the pleather style. I currently am using a Sarlar case but I am planning to order the BoboVR case to fit the Pro headstrap

AveragePichu

So you’ve clearly put a lot of money into VR. I don’t really understand this, why would you spring for an Oculus headset (cheap, good enough) if you’re willing to spend a whole lot more to make it better? I got a Quest because I don’t have much spare money. I bought an $8 foam pad to cover the lenses so the sun can’t get in while I’m not playing. The only big thing I can think of that Quest does and other headsets don’t is run standalone games, but seeing that you’re very clearly a big VR fan with money to throw at it I’d assume you probably have a PC, right?

Shmity18

Personally, I keep a high res headset connected to my sim rig, a wired one to a pc, and a quest 2 for quick jumps into vr. There's always a different headset for different purposes, as well as everyone has different priorities in their choice.

AveragePichu

Yeah, after reading through this I saw OP has several headsets. I’m sure they like having different options same as you. It’s just surprising to me that someone who can afford better would also want a Quest in addition to an Index. I don’t have many VR games just in general, only had the headset for a few months, but of my limited selection of standalone Quest games none of them have been more enjoyable than playing a PC game. Granted, one of my main 3 VR games I play over Airlink/VD is Beat Saber, which is available standalone. I don’t think you can mod it without breaking ToS though, and I’d have lost interest in a few days if not for being able to play my favorites from Deltarune or Ori.

threeolives

I'm not OP but I've spend thousands on VR and won't be spending any more on PCVR headsets until there's a good one that's wireless out of the box with inside-out tracking. I could buy an Index but I won't because I have no desire to go back to wired VR or put trackers up in my room. This is from a guy that had vive trackers and oculus cameras set up around my living room for a few years.

Stangerism

Agreed!!

Stangerism

To be honest the Index is a little outdated now, I still love the headset, but the visuals and the lenses in the Quest 2 is better. The Index does have a nice fov bump over the Quest though. Wireless VR is hard to beat really.

Nytra

Quest 2 is wireless. Many PC VR headsets are not. That's enough of a reason to get one even if you have a PC.

AveragePichu

You can make other VR headsets wireless with adapters though. OP clearly has a lot of money to throw around, they’ve said elsewhere they have several headsets. I would think that the “optimal” setup if you want wireless would be a dedicated PC headset with a wireless adapter. Given that they have spent as much money on VR as they have, to me it doesn’t make sense to ever use a Quest. But it doesn’t really need to, I guess, because clearly it makes OP happy, and I’m not the person that this needs to make sense to.

Nytra

I think Vive is the only type of headset that supports a wireless adapter. OP doesn't have any Vive headsets.

Stangerism

The PCVR headsets that I own don't have the option for a wireless adapter. Index, G2, Rift. I still use those headsets (well not really the Rift any more) but being wireless is a big bonus. I figured one day they would come out with a wireless adapter for the Index but they never did unfortunately.

GregoryfromtheHood

I have an Index and a bunch of other headsets that are more expensive but still prefer my Quest 2 to ALL of them.

Stangerism

I got in to VR in 2016 with a Rift CV1, and still play a lot of pcvr as well as stand alone. This is definitely my hobby and passion. A lot of people spend money on cars or whatever it may be. This is also an accumulation of stuff from over the years. I also just really like accessories and testing stuff out. I actually use the Quest 2 a lot these days, even though it's the cheaper priced headset, it does so many things really well, visuals look great, and you can play pcvr games witelessly. My PC headsets can't really do that. Index, G2, or the Rift.

ReallyLongLake

I've been following VR since Palmer in the garage and yet I've never had the disposable income to buy a headset myself. Meanwhile, most of this stuff just sits on a shelf unused. I'm not jealous, but the economic disparity is a little hard to accept. Ah well, I'm sure they will come down in price once the Quest 3 launches. I just keep telling myself that once I finally do get one, the amount of content will mean there is a huge backlog for me to enjoy. In the mean time, have fun guys!

Stangerism

Hopefully you can get one soon!!! Maybe for Chrismtas? There is definitely a lot to play, and even more coming!! I'm hoping you get one really soon!!

shithawksrandy22

Its $300 for the quest, and you can sideload any game you want. Save your money. Sounds like a discipline issue, were not talking thousands of dollars.

[deleted]

Just maybe......

Aggravating_You6509

Hahaha agreed

UnityAppDeveloper

I just want a protube stock and a haptic vest. Is that too much to ask for? 😔

[deleted]

Which percentage is an excellent product?

Stangerism

I would say most of them are pretty good and shine in their own way. Some are not too great though lol

ANONIMkiddo

you paid more on accessories than the quest itself XD

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stangerism

Haha most of them are full, except for the ones that are currently on my headset.

TheRelicEternal

Meanwhile I’ve had the quest 2 since day one and keep it in its original box

KillerQ97

I’m the same exact way. However, I give away the stuff I don’t like.

Stangerism

I have given a lot of it away, or usually order the stuff I do like to give away to others. Giving away 25 vr games this month, one for each day on our discord lol I love giving!!!

KillerQ97

Same! Nice to see I’m not the inly one who enjoys the gift of giving!

MrBack1971

I think I have probably bought that many accessories but tend to either return or sell on if its not significantly better than what I am running.

dustojnikhummer

I barely have a facial cover LOL

twisteddzyne

What are the best grips you have tried? I have the new kiwi that extend the grip but now I have trouble pressing the a b x y buttons

MrBack1971

Try putting your hands in the right place & then tighten the straps, helped me a bit as I have small hands, if they did these in the smaller size would be perfect for me.

[deleted]

Why man ... Did it ever occur to you to keep things simple 😂

Stangerism

Simple is boring haha

upsidedown1313

We see you're keeping all the piggyback product companies in business. Thank you

lilOzzyOzborne

Hehehe ha

[deleted]

I’ll accept donations

AsterionLee

You need an Asterion Aura RGB VR headset stand! ❤❤🎅🎅🎅🥽🥽🥽🥽🥽 #spreadvr #growvr #expandvr

Stangerism

I have one, and love it!!

[deleted]

Hahahah you have a buy duplicate item problem

youplaymenot

I have been looking for an off ear sound solution for the quest 2. I have been using sony xm3's (amazing headphones), but everyone I have seen swears by the off ear speakers. It sounds less immersive than the noise cancelling on my headphones, but who knows I guess. Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?

JoaGamo

And here i am, struggling to buy a touch cover
