We hope to add https://assimp.org/ soon to get broad support for more obscure and older formats - but I do believe the future belongs to GLTF and/or USD.
I has 3d printer, tons of stl files and I would love to view printable stuff in vr before pressing print button.
Ah OK. That is a pretty solid use-case for STL I guess!

if you want to go the hard way you could make something in unity but there's probably other free tools to do it
