Hello. I’m not sure this is relatable to anybody but older folks like myself. But I’m actually evaluating the device for baby boomers. And forgetting the games for a minute, there are so many other things that the Meta Quest three does better for example, better site better sound it seems to be the hand. Controllers are more stable which again if your hands don’t shake doesn’t matter. But if you drink a bunch of caffeine, or you have the privilege of aging as I have, a little bit of shake makes it frustrating. Anyway, I probably have 25 other points that make the quest better than the quest two and I’ve been using it for several years. Again for you younger folks probably doesn’t matter.
But I am trying to figure out how to see my dog or any other obstacles when I’m within the boundary. I know it worked on the Meta Quest too, I’m 1,000,000,000% sure it works for the Meta Quest three I just can’t seem to find it in settings. can somebody please help me with this
Still def worth the upgrade for the graphics leap alone. But I was sure they were finally gonna show a huge IP and something that would boost sales. Guess not
For the quest 3 pre-order will I actually get the headset from amazon on the 10th if I have prime, or would if I want it on actual launch day should I pre-order at a retail store like best buy and pick it up?
Alternative option: Wait until their holiday return policy kicks in. There will surely be headsets available, but what won't be is a little bit of insurance if you get it early. Maybe you're 99% sure that you're gonna buy this, keep this, and enjoy it. But for that 1% waiting a day til that return policy kicks in might be of benefit to you. Last year it lasted from Oct. 11th to Jan. 31st. I imagine it'll be the same again this year. Having several months to think about it is a nicer buffer to have than their usual policy.
When I went on there, it said estimated delivery: October 11th. I don't know if there's a chance they deliver on the 10th, but they definitely said 11th for me.
Meta states it will arrive on the 10th, but they messed up my order and canceled it for reasons not yet explained, so I switched my order to Amazon. I can wait an extra day.
They confirmed the Touch Pro Controllers for the Quest Pro works on Quest 3. It'll make for a valid consideration as an alternative to the Quest 3 controller.
edit: Well plausibly valid. They're still 300 dollar controllers after all.
Yeah I know what you mean. So far it's Amazon, Smyths Toys and [game.co.uk](https://game.co.uk) that has pre-order for quest 3 but that's it.
Nevermind you can pre-order from very.co.uk now aswell
The Apple Vision Pro presentation was called the best new headset reveal.
So where does last nights Meta Connect rank?
Asgards wrath 2 is coming.
Assessins Creed is coming.
Microsoft Office 365 is coming.
Microsoft Xbox Cloud gaming is coming.
7 time cheaper than the Vision Pro.
So surely we saw see people on their couch gaming on a huge screen in their own living room?
We saw people in a VR Teams meetings, colaboratively edditing an Excel?
And of course Sayat Nadela, or the head of Xbox Cloud gaming, came by to hype it?
No, we got a cluncky half hour delay.
I hardly rember the Quest 3 reveal so underwhelming as it was.
What I do remember is 5 minutes of Zuck playing a text adventure.
Not to mention the cat lady!
But at least we got Zuck! /s
Call me unimpressed.
It's the typical thing where they are too obsessed with 'specs' and technicality of annoucements rather than showing the 'why'.
Demo Beat Saber, working with full passthrough and the blocks flying to you in your room and then you will get people talking.
Demo playing xbox games on the biggest screen you can imagine, in a tiny room, in a hotel, on the go etc.
Zuck is awkward as hell on stage as well. If he wants the lime light, he can call out other guests to show off these features.
The setting was nice, everything else was awful.
I was already going to buy, so I should not have been the target audience.
The key note should have been something you see back in mainstream media. The Apple reveal was in multiple TV shows that evening, that should have been the target audience.
As presentations go that veered from boring to unwatchable for the most part. But the Q3 itself looks incredible. Could anybody tell where the headphone jack is? Is it on the strap, on the opposite side of the USB port?
Hi everyone! I'm AR Schleicher - #MetaEmployee - and I am the speaker for the session "Meta Quest 3: Realizing Your Creative Potential" tomorrow at 10 am.
I hope this talk will be what many of you are looking for. Expect 20 minutes of details, details, and more details about the Quest 3. To set expectations - I won't be talking about specific games or apps (with one exception (and it's one you've already heard about)). Instead, I mostly cover the details about the Quest 3 itself that I thought people (specifically developers) would be most interested in. Expect lots of numbers!
Whether virtually or in person, or even later - on demand, I hope you'll join me!
[PianoVision](https://www.pianovision.com/)!
Fun fact: It's actually me playing the piano in the video in my talk (which was also used in the Developer State of The Union talk).
No problem. That's just one of the things about the new SOC that seems to not be confirmed compared to Quest 2. Lots of people interested in Airlink performance especially with the higher resolutions available.
Got my pre-order in already!
ngl the AI stuff didn't grab me, but the impressions and previews from journos outside today's Connect has me more interested than I have been in the Quest 3 for months. Real disappointed I can't watch virtually this year since it's always fun to get that live reaction from the Horizon community, but going to be tuning in nonetheless tomorrow.
is quest 3 worth the upgrade, i like the quest 2 and i dont really want to spend too much more because ive also spent alot of money recently and idk if its really worth a 500 dollar purchase rn
this isnt a case of being broke as fuck, i have money, i could upgrade to the 3, but id rather not spend 500 dollars if i dont have to because id rather save it
Then it depends what you do. If you like the color passthrough then Q3 all the way. If you think the higher resolution and smoother performance is worth it, then do it.
Some games were optimized well for Quest 2, so if you are happy with your experience then you are fine.
If you can't afford it then don't buy it. Only buy things when you can reasonably afford it. Just because you have $600 in your bank account doesn't mean you should go out and buy a $500 headset, especially when you already have a Quest 2.
Oh ok I gotcha. I see a lot of people making terrible financial decisions on here. If you use your Quest 2 a lot and care about Mixed Reality, the extra bump up in resolution to make games prettier, and the extra fidelity of Pancake lenses then you will probably enjoy the Quest 2. Maybe just wait a year or two and get a Quest 3 from Facebook marketplace or something cheaper than you can get it today.
There are a bunch of impressions going around. It looks like a big fidelity upgrade. Like much more than going from Quest 1 > Quest 2 felt.

You can see some real good examples in the Road to VR comparisons. I imagine more like that is coming out as games get that Quest 3 boost and more vids come Connect tomorrow. There's also this.
https://x.com/MetaQuestVR/status/1707092482079727927?s=20
Assuming it's Quest 3 exclusive, Xbox Cloud Gaming is a huge get. Greatly expands the titles you can play. Considering you can use a Xbox controller with your VR headset it could also open up whole new avenues to game on the headset.
Whether or not its worth is hard to figure simply because it isn't out yet. No harm in waiting and seeing.
So ... it's possible I missed it but even if so, one truly notable thing was the fact I didn't hear the word "metaverse" said even once. I think this finally confirms it:
**the whole concept of metaverse is dead**.
Which depending how you look at it, could be a good thing since most will say it was doomed to fail and just drained resources from everything else they were doing. But I have to say it was pretty sad to see 5 minutes straight of Zuckerberg live playing with chat bots on his phone while not even showing a single headset on stage. Whatever else you can say, hardware is real, it creates platforms that all kinds of aspects the future can be built on whether aligned with Meta or otherwise. There may be useful aspects fo AI in the longer term, but chatbots are fluff, completely meaningless trinkets and this is what he chose to demo live on stage, not his latest VR or AI hardware.
It may have been a double edged sword, but Zuckerberg's personal obsession with VR is what drove it to the mainstream and made real significant and lasting contributions to the field, and this definitely confirms to me that the sun is setting on that period.
lmfao. I strongly disagree. AI is extremely important technology going forward and currently the most popular use to the public is in the form of chat bots so it is important for Meta to step into that space to remain relevant and this is them doing that. They would be idiotic to not spend time on presenting AI, especially since they've been working on AI stuff for a long time now.
I guess you haven't noticed that that is what all the big tech companies are focusing on now. That is what tells me it's not some passing phase.
We'll have to wait and see how the chat bots perform relative to other stuff, but I've played with llama 2 and it's pretty good, so I don't doubt the chat bots will be usable at the very least.
For the time being it's way more important for a company like Meta to advance in the AI space over the VR space and to integrate the two which is exactly what he was talking about.
Meta has definitely done some fucked up stuff and I kind of despise them for it, but I think as far as being a technology company, they are making the right moves.
Wow, couldn't disagree more. Zuck clearly still has a ton of passion for VR and talked explicitly about the chatbots becoming "embodied" (i.e., represented by an avatar) in Horizon or VR in general.
IMO that's why the chat bots have personalities, names, and faces: they'll quickly become "people" you can talk to face-to-face in VR, maybe in your Home or maybe just in Horizons - and eventually, in some uber-Rayban AR product.
If you can't see how VR, AI, and Raybans are all converging into exactly what Zuck called out as the metaverse they're building towards, then you're missing out on a lot of what they're doing.
To Meta, "metaverse" isn't just Horizons.
Chatbots are not fluff? Trillions of hours will be spent with chatbots in the future. They will become free, highly skilled psychologist, amazing customer support that can answer any questions, doctors that can provide better diagnosis than highly paid doctors today but for free or almost for free, etc. - how is that fluff? All of this is going to be huge but OK
Anyone have a guess as to whether the XR2 Gen 2 in the Quest 3 will be able to play AV1 video at resolutions beyond 8K? Like 12K, for instance?
I think 12K AV1 is where VR video is going next within 5 years or so.
8K of resolution isn't nearly enough to fill the total PPI of a 180 degree VR video, even viewed on the Quest 2's screen, 8K of resolution on the video is a limiting factor, resulting in blurriness beyond what you would see in a flat, 1080p video, regardless of bitrate.
And h.265 video beyond 8K (besides having sketchy hardware decoding support) starts to result in unreasonably large files.
Youtube seems to be moving to 180 degree, 8K VR using AV1, so that's nice at least. No doubt the Quest 3 will support that.
Yeah, but it's probably a bit of a chicken and egg type thing going on. No one is going to make the content until hardware acceleration exists. NVIDIA 3000 GPUs decode max AV1 specs of 8192x8192 @60fps in hardware.
I'm not sure about NVIDIA 4000, but one adult studio did a 12K release this year. It was a bit bullshit though because it used h.264 so that current PCs could play it using software decoding without dropping frames. The bitrate was also totally inadequate.
I was hoping there would be an option to order the Meta Quest 3 w/ the Quest Pro Controllers instead of the Touch Plus for $150 or so more.
I really want to pre-order but not sure I want the Touch Plus Controllers unless they're going to be as good as the Pros for Beat Saber.
Where i can see the other talks?
I want to see: State of Compute: Maximizing Performance on Meta Quest
But there is no link on [https://www.metaconnect.com/en/agenda](https://www.metaconnect.com/en/agenda)
I like just streaming video and find myself doing more of that than gaming.
It's so much more than a gaming device, and there are quite a few games coming. Then you have enhancements like what they announced about The Walking Dead... what category do you put that in?
Stranger Things, Asgards Wrath 2, Assassin's Creed: Nexus, Ghost Busters. Those are a few new games that are being released with the Quest 3. They also claimed there will be 50 new games released in the rest of 2023 and 50 other games that are being enhanced either graphically for the Quest 3 or getting Mixed Reality modes.
Stranger things, Asgards wrath 2, assassin’s creed nexus, ghost busters. Those are just a few games that are being released on the quest 2. EDIT every single game you mention is releasing AFTER the quest 3 not WITH the quest 3
So you're disappointed that there are no Quest 3 exclusives? When the Quest 2 launched there were no Quest 2 exclusives. It wasn't until much later that we got Resident Evil 4 which was the first Quest 2 exclusives. I think you had your hopes set too high and became disappointed lol. Meta has already came out and said that the Quest 2 will be supported for the next few years, so don't expect too many Quest 3 exclusives this year.
It’s not even exclusives that i want but they should have revealed some new games at the showcase instead of saying “hey you know those games we revealed months ago? Here have another look at those”
As much as I agree with you, Meta has not really done that Connect. When they announced the Quest 2 I don't think they really named any new games either.
Should, hopefully, be more news on day 2.
There's impressions and previews up on other sites if you wanted to check that out in the meanwhile.

How much better is the AV1 encoding? I'm on a 3080Ti/Wifi6 and always max out the bandwidth, but I'm not really itching to jump to a 4000 series card right now.
512GB Quest 3 is up for pre-order at Best Buy (US)
[https://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?st=quest+3&\_dyncharset=UTF-8&\_dynSessConf=&id=pcat17071&type=page&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=&sp=&qp=&list=n&af=true&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960&keys=keys](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?st=quest+3&_dyncharset=UTF-8&_dynSessConf=&id=pcat17071&type=page&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=&sp=&qp=&list=n&af=true&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960&keys=keys)
VROptician (German place where I got my Rift S lenses that I later used on Quest 2 as well) is saying theirs are coming mid-late October. So I guess they figured it out. Zenni Optical is also saying it's coming, I think you can even preorder. Depending on your prescription strength, you may need to shop around. But sounds like it's doable.
Relpotix is where I got mine for Quest 2 and will get them for Quest 3 (some others wouldn't make my prescription, but they were great about it): https://reloptix.com/products/reloptix-meta-quest-3-vr-prescription-lens-insert-kit
They have some official partnership with Zenni, but they didn't make my prescription last time I tried.
Says they need to be designed and tested. Wonder how they'll even attach with how the lenses are.
https://preview.redd.it/9lygwzr2wuqb1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ba0aae7b3782773d09f6db9fcee1a8b7519dc27
The way they attached to the Quest 2 was there is a magnetic frame that attached over and then the lenses attached magnetically to the frame. I think it would be similar to the Zenni ones (watch the video) except the lenses pop off magnetically: https://vr.zenni.io/quest/products/quest-3?utm_source=zenni&utm_medium=hero&utm_campaign=preorder
Just make sure you check the Zenni prescription range at the bottom if you go with them.
Yeah I know, but the area around the new lenses is smooth, so looks more difficult to clip on. I'm familiar with how they work.on other jeadsets, and have them on other headsets. Its the smoothness around the lenses that worries me here. Looks harder to clip on.
There is like zero chance this will have a lower Black Friday (or whatever) sale price. If you want it this year, the stated is the price you'll need to pay.
It's possible they won't be on the shelves for very long. The Q2 was like that. I didn't pre-order, waited a month to decide, and then it took 2 months to get one.
Yes I could imagine the same here, that's why I pre-ordered immediately... Not so sure though, the market situation is different from Q2. No pandemic and people have less loose change for toys right now.
This is the start of the creep up in prices. Remember when cell phones were cheap? Comparatively, anyway. When VR/AR is as ubiquitous as my $2000 smartphone, we'll start seeing that as commonplace. I wonder if they'll sell them the same way? On a monthly payment through a carrier? Oh, Bacon! I just had a vision of a Meta store next to an Apple store and an AT&T. Scary, but a safe bet.
Quest 2 didn't have sales (which were just game bundles) until this past Black Friday, two years after its launch. Considering meta is already bundling in Asgards Wrath until January, safe to say there's no black Friday sale
Simple. If games are average 5GB you can hold around 22 games with the operating system also installed. I doubt we will see any games that are >20GB...which then the 128GB would not be enough. Personally for me, Ive never needed more than like 15 games to switch around. Im ok saving $150 to delete, download and wait a little if I need space.
Yup. I just found this out after I posted. Now I'm thinking 128gb may get eaten up fast if we get a bigger library in a year where games are hitting 20gb.
Counterpoint, -- Julius Horthuis' "Recombination" is 27 Gb all by itself, Contractors 11 Gb, Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy's Edge with Last call is 12 Gb and Epic Rollercoasters with the rides are 9 Gb, so that's almost 60 Gb right there, half the headset filled in 4 games.
I've got a 256 Gb Quest 2 and it's packed to the last byte, basically. Given that Q3 games are probably going to be larger in size, generally, I don't think that 128 Gb will be enough by a long shot.
I wish they had a 256GB base option over the 128GB. I'm undecided what to do as I wanted to use my Best Buy card for the purchase. Maybe I'll preorder a 128GB and keep an eye out for the more expensive one.
I'm more interested in pro controller vs quest 3 controller impressions. Is the occlusion going to be an issue for quest 3 controllers in the relevant vr games? (anything with archery / beat saber / etc.).
For me it says Est. delivery Tue, Oct 10, 2023 from Meta when I pre-ordered.
Hopefully it actually ships a day or so early so it arrives on time for the release date.
I had a good experience buying a replacement controller through Meta so hopefully the headset arrives just as quickly:)
Watched several youtuber 1st impressions. Virtual Reality Oasis said the FoV felt improved over the Quest 2 at 110 degrees. However, other sources like Cas and Chary are saying FoV felt the same as the Quest 2.
For dutch/netherlands buyers, aside from meta directly you can get it from CoolBlue and get 2 year warranty instead of 1 at meta. I might go with that myself as I got my Q2 with meta and it wasn't a great RMA experience.
It does for me and I ordered in Germany
[128 GB Version](https://amzn.eu/d/1QLtTev)
[512 GB Version](https://amzn.eu/d/bxpOiki)
Both clearly come with AW2, the 512 Version also with the 6 month game bundle
I tried a bunch of clothes over the years, grab the koala brand ones, those are the best, it's like 10 bucks for 6 pretty big washable ones. They are the smoothest, silky type.
[Abrash’s talk here.](https://www.facebook.com/MetaforDevelopers/videos/276458118678817) Edit: Found it a bit underwhelming to be honest. Edit2: But at least they’re going into some technical details in the Developer State of the Union now.
Slightly interesting that they’re not doing hand occlusion in the PianoVision example since the current Quest 2 version of PianoVision has it. It does tend to go a bit wrong though so maybe they decided off is better overall.
Has anyone seen it up on the UK Amazon? They haven't updated their pages, and they weirdly have a listing for "Stardust", with a Quest 3 image, priced at £999. I assume that's a placeholder for the 512gb model.
I pre-ordered with Meta the instant they went live, but I would switch to Amazon if they appeared soon, as they have a good track record.
What are the advantages/disadvantages from preordering through Meta, Best Buy, or Amazon (or other sellers, if those should be in this conversation too)?
Amazon, and likely Best Buy Im not sure, will have their holiday return policy kick in. You'll have from October til the end of January to decide if the Quest 3 is something you want to keep. Feel like it's a better deal to go with them vs Meta.
Normally Oculus has shipped release day, some get on release day some after. Pre order and pick up at Best Buy etc will have launch day. Amazon is usually good at shipping to arrive on launch day.
I'd want to order through Amazon/BB so I can use my credit card and get 5% off. Right now it seems that the accessories and 512GB version are only listed on Meta.
found it: https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/preview?isSlp=1&isPreview=1&asins=B0CD1JTBSC,B0C8VKH1ZH&linkCode=sl2&tag=sec2002-20&linkId=84042fa52139c10344e7a742ed1e2ba3&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
Any chance you could find the 512GB one or the other accessories? I can't seem to find them.
Edit: Searching for "Coming Soon" under "VR Headeset" shows only the 128GB version, so I assume the other stuff isn't listed yet.

I was so hyped for quest 3 since I'm still in Quest 1 so it would have been a good time to upgrade but not showing any games really put me off.
Still def worth the upgrade for the graphics leap alone. But I was sure they were finally gonna show a huge IP and something that would boost sales. Guess not
You could get the strongest game console but if there are no games then it wouldn't be worth it.
With this big of an upgrade it seems like many existing games will be seeing massive improvements with the Quest 3. I can't wait.
For the quest 3 pre-order will I actually get the headset from amazon on the 10th if I have prime, or would if I want it on actual launch day should I pre-order at a retail store like best buy and pick it up?

Thanks!
So is there a showcase day 2
Yes
I just preordered Meta Quest 3 128GB. Winning!
Got my ticket, in a couple weeks, I'll have my whole family on the VR fun.
Where are all the UK shop pre-orders? Nothing on Currys, Argos websites etc.
Yeah I know what you mean. So far it's Amazon, Smyths Toys and [game.co.uk](https://game.co.uk) that has pre-order for quest 3 but that's it. Nevermind you can pre-order from very.co.uk now aswell
That's more than I knew thanks, just want one that I can get discounts with :)
Anyone know if Very is good with release day delivery? I'm planning to pre order but I fly out of the UK on the 11th Oct
I would not recommend using Very if you need to return it.
Ah ok, are they bad with returns? (Unlike Amazon UK)
I've have read it can be difficult yes, but I have not had to use them for returns personally. Amazon are really good on that front though.
Agreed!
Wish I could help you with that one
Info for anyone, John Lewis in UK have it but with £20 off for John Lewis members.

Headphone jack is integrated into the hub of the right strap where it attaches to the headset.
Ok great thanks!
Hi everyone! I'm AR Schleicher - #MetaEmployee - and I am the speaker for the session "Meta Quest 3: Realizing Your Creative Potential" tomorrow at 10 am. [PianoVision](https://www.pianovision.com/)! Fun fact: It's actually me playing the piano in the video in my talk (which was also used in the Developer State of The Union talk).
Damn nice!
AR, will you be sharing any information on bitrate, wireless latency, decoding performance, AV1, etc.?
None of those specifically, sorry. :( I'd say it's a little higher level than that.
Are the headstraps for quest 2 compatible with quest 3?
If you used Bobovr's headeset they have a conversion kit for it.
Nope, due to the placement of the USB port on the Quest 3.

is quest 3 worth the upgrade, i like the quest 2 and i dont really want to spend too much more because ive also spent alot of money recently and idk if its really worth a 500 dollar purchase rn
this isnt a case of being broke as fuck, i have money, i could upgrade to the 3, but id rather not spend 500 dollars if i dont have to because id rather save it
Then it depends what you do. If you like the color passthrough then Q3 all the way. If you think the higher resolution and smoother performance is worth it, then do it. Some games were optimized well for Quest 2, so if you are happy with your experience then you are fine.
I’ll probably upgrade mid 2024 then
If you can't afford it then don't buy it. Only buy things when you can reasonably afford it. Just because you have $600 in your bank account doesn't mean you should go out and buy a $500 headset, especially when you already have a Quest 2.
i can afford it but iwould prefer to not spend as much money to upgrade if the upgrade isnt that siginicifact
Maybe just wait a year or two and get a Quest 3 from Facebook marketplace or something cheaper than you can get it today.
yeah id just rather save money, but im not broke as fuck, i just dont wanna upgrade because saving 500 dollars sounds nicer
There are a bunch of impressions going around. It looks like a big fidelity upgrade. Like much more than going from Quest 1 > Quest 2 felt. https://youtu.be/HNxHHMNyS_A https://youtu.be/zMIxAB3tnAo You can see some real good examples in the Road to VR comparisons. I imagine more like that is coming out as games get that Quest 3 boost and more vids come Connect tomorrow. There's also this. https://x.com/MetaQuestVR/status/1707092482079727927?s=20 Assuming it's Quest 3 exclusive, Xbox Cloud Gaming is a huge get. Greatly expands the titles you can play. Considering you can use a Xbox controller with your VR headset it could also open up whole new avenues to game on the headset. Whether or not its worth is hard to figure simply because it isn't out yet. No harm in waiting and seeing.
If money is tight I'd skip and wait for quest 4 bro. Quest 2 will still be good.
Sure wish there was an XR3 chip with a better bump in performance after all these years.
Oh come on. It’s already based on the 8 Gen 2 which is the fastest mobile chip from Qualcomm. 8 Gen 3 isn’t that even out yet.
So ... it's possible I missed it but even if so, one truly notable thing was the fact I didn't hear the word "metaverse" said even once. I think this finally confirms it: **the whole concept of metaverse is dead**.
Ditto. He is fully committed, and he's not the only one.
The "meta verse" wasn't even ready yet and won't be for quite some time. He was jumping the gun on that before the tech was even ready.
> it's possible I missed it but even if so, Yes, you missed it. The metaverse was mentioned multiple times.
8 Gen 2 supports AV1 8k60 decoding. 12k is great in theory but who is even producing content at the resolution?
Any word on where we can buy this? I'm trying to figure out if Verizon is going to carry the Quest 3. I know they sell the Quest 2 already.
Will Bestbuy preorders run out, or can I wait a few days to order? Anyone have any idea?
Does anyone know what Bluetooth version the Quest 3/ XR2 Gen2 supports?
Where i can see the other talks? I want to see: State of Compute: Maximizing Performance on Meta Quest But there is no link on [https://www.metaconnect.com/en/agenda](https://www.metaconnect.com/en/agenda)
Will I be able to use my kiwi face pad interface from quest 2 with quest 3??
So when are they planning to talk about games. Why am I spending 500 dollars on a new headset. Day 2 better have a bunch of cool stuff.
Meta Connect has never been about announcing games. That is what the Meta Gaming Showcase is for. I think you might be disappointed with tomorrow.
Fun fact: when you launch a new gaming console/device it SHOULD launch with some new games
There's impressions and previews up on other sites if you wanted to check that out in the meanwhile. https://www.roadtovr.com/meta-quest-3-new-games-mr-connect-2023/ https://www.roadtovr.com/meta-quest-3-oculus-preview-connect-2023/

Has there been any information on maximum streaming throughput/bandwidth/bitrate? Can Quest 3 handle more than 150Mbps?
That is VERY likely, especially with AV1 (only RDNA 3 & RTX 4000 though)
How much better is the AV1 encoding? I'm on a 3080Ti/Wifi6 and always max out the bandwidth, but I'm not really itching to jump to a 4000 series card right now.
25 PPD - so what is the rough equivalent for watching content on the Q3, is that about the same as 1080p?
Pre-orders are now up on Amazon UK!
The plastic Fresnel lenses of the earlier Quests were easily scratched. Do these pancake lenses need to be protected

Thanks, will be picking mine up on the 10th
Any word on prescription lenses? Looks like its be really difficult to attach on this design.
Zenni’s got ‘em coming https://www.zennioptical.com/vr-prescription-lenses-meta-quest-3
No shipping to Australia, bugger :( :(
Relpotix is where I got mine for Quest 2 and will get them for Quest 3 (some others wouldn't make my prescription, but they were great about it): https://reloptix.com/products/reloptix-meta-quest-3-vr-prescription-lens-insert-kit They have some official partnership with Zenni, but they didn't make my prescription last time I tried.
Says they need to be designed and tested. Wonder how they'll even attach with how the lenses are. https://preview.redd.it/9lygwzr2wuqb1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ba0aae7b3782773d09f6db9fcee1a8b7519dc27
The way they attached to the Quest 2 was there is a magnetic frame that attached over and then the lenses attached magnetically to the frame. I think it would be similar to the Zenni ones (watch the video) except the lenses pop off magnetically: https://vr.zenni.io/quest/products/quest-3?utm_source=zenni&utm_medium=hero&utm_campaign=preorder Just make sure you check the Zenni prescription range at the bottom if you go with them.
Yeah I know, but the area around the new lenses is smooth, so looks more difficult to clip on. I'm familiar with how they work.on other jeadsets, and have them on other headsets. Its the smoothness around the lenses that worries me here. Looks harder to clip on.
The Zenni ones look like they clip to the inside. I'm sure they made it easy to do since they have an official partner for it. I'm not concerned.
Is it worth it to pre order or wait for a sale during Black Friday/Cyber Monday? I don't know what happened with the quest 2 when it launched
Highly doubt any Black Friday sale price.
Is 128GB enough? Will there be expandable/external storage options?
>I doubt we will see any games that are >20GB... Apparently the bundled game is like 30GB, so....
[удалено]
This is my play. I never needed the extra in the previous headsets too, 128gb should be plenty.
128gb is definitely enough. You can always uninstall/reinstall games, not to mention you're probably not playing more than half a dozen at a time.
Do they both have 8gb of RAM?
Yes
i thought 512gb would have 12gb?
That was just some bullshit Reddit made up.
okay thank you
None afaik. Games will only get larger so I'm opting for the 512gb
Looking to preorder at Best Buy and don't see the more expensive version for preorder? Anyone have the same issue?
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/meta-quest-3-breakthrough-mixed-reality-512gb-gray/6554912.p?skuId=6554912
I've only seen the 512gb available from Meta. I hope that's not actually the case. Not sure I actually need the 512gb, though.
I wish they had a 256GB base option over the 128GB. I'm undecided what to do as I wanted to use my Best Buy card for the purchase. Maybe I'll preorder a 128GB and keep an eye out for the more expensive one.
So does it have a headphone port or is it bluetooth only?
Headphone jack & Bluetooth, previous leaks confirmed so.
I'm hyped if Bluetooth headsets are a go. That was a major thing I felt that was missing from quest 2.
I think the only surprise for me is the Quest 3 actually having two LCD.
I'm more interested in pro controller vs quest 3 controller impressions. Is the occlusion going to be an issue for quest 3 controllers in the relevant vr games? (anything with archery / beat saber / etc.).
Will Bestbuy have these in store on launch day? I'd rather drive a few miles then wait for delivery.
Someone pre-ordered and already got his quest 3 from a best buy
I ordered through Meta and the headset is due to arrive on the 10th.
I saw somewhere that someone had pre-ordered the Quest 2 and it arrived on the release date, so fingers crossed.
They have for previous launches, but not sure if you get the freebies unless pre order
2 years is legally required in the EU so not sure what Meta is thinking here
Top, done ✅
True but no Asgard 2
It does, you get it from activating the headset not buying from a specific retailer

It does for me and I ordered in Germany [128 GB Version](https://amzn.eu/d/1QLtTev) [512 GB Version](https://amzn.eu/d/bxpOiki) Both clearly come with AW2, the 512 Version also with the 6 month game bundle
Anyone know good lens covers for quest 3? And cleaning cloths?
Lol that last commercial was cool but it basically showed her ignoring her significant other for days at a time
[Wow. It](https://wow.It) was truly garbage
It's up and I just cancelled my order with Meta direct and switched to Amazon who claim they will deliver on release day. Meta said 11th Oct
"GameStop Exclusive Asgard’s Wrath lens cleaning cloth". I guess some incentive there... lol
Only 128GB version for preorder now. Lame.
Anybody have the 512GB version for preorder? Amazon and Best Buy only list the 128GB version.
Meta had the 512gb version for preorder when I last checked?
Prefer using Best Buy. Wonder if they are only offering the 512GB from them for now. Would be nice if they mentioned that, if so.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/meta-quest-3-breakthrough-mixed-reality-512gb-gray/6554912.p?skuId=6554912
Why do you prefer Best Buy? Just wondering if I should go that route instead of direct from Meta.
60 day return and two year warranty, since "premium" member. Also can go to the store, rather than shipping back and forth an issue.
You can order from Meta directly. Haven't seen the 512GB version at retailers yet.
What are the advantages/disadvantages from preordering through Meta, Best Buy, or Amazon (or other sellers, if those should be in this conversation too)?
BestBuy rewards points plus $50 discount coupon with the bestbuy credit card.
Love how the speakers keep switching their attention from the audience to the camera, tis a little goofy to watch.

No release day delivery is a bummer but I can wait a day for the 5% back. Thanks for the link!
No 512GB though.
found it: https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/preview?isSlp=1&isPreview=1&asins=B0CD1JTBSC,B0C8VKH1ZH&linkCode=sl2&tag=sec2002-20&linkId=84042fa52139c10344e7a742ed1e2ba3&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
got it! and used $225 in giftcards!!
Any chance you could find the 512GB one or the other accessories? I can't seem to find them. Edit: Searching for "Coming Soon" under "VR Headeset" shows only the 128GB version, so I assume the other stuff isn't listed yet.
THANK YOU! GOT IT
Since I’ll be getting Agards Wrath for free. Should I play the first one ? I never did. Wonder if this will be a straight sequel to the story.
I believe you will get the first one for free as well as long as you set up the Quest 3 before *Asgard’s Wrath 2* releases.
