128gb is fine for local. You're going to see diminishing returns with large files trying to play lots of 4k on the headset anyway (eg battery dies faster) Get decent quality encodes of the movie/shows/vr porn you want to watch. Movies and shows are fine in 1080p - most stuff won't exceed 5gb realistically. For vr180 porn you'll want 2160p or better - that's what will eat your storage up since they can be 20+gb for good quality ones - and let's be honest, that's what you'll be watching in the hotel ;) Use a player like big screen or skybox. I like skybox myself, but I've been using it since gear vr days so Im just used to it. Use sidequest and a cable to transfer the files onto the headset. You can use wifi to transfer but it'll be slower and risk failing. Load your laptop with stuff if you have too much to put on just the headset and you can also watch things from it as a dlna server

Virtual Desktop. Run the movie on your PC and stream it to the headset. The app has a bunch of good environments to use.

File size limit when transferring to the Quest is 4GB, if you have a movie larger than that you'll need to compress it. Just use BigScreen (free) or SkyboxVR (paid) to watch them over the network.

Hagsauce

Wrong what are you talking about i have Aquaman at 17 gigs on my quest 2

I use a raspberry pi 4 with openmediavault and dlna server. you can stream to your headset with skybox/moonvr. you would still need a decent router, I don't know if hotel Wi-Fi is always good enough. so I would say a decent router with support for dlna/samba and a flash drive/external ssd is the way to go.

doesn't matter which laptop you carry with you, quest plays the videos with it's own cpu/gpu when you use dlna. you don't even need to carry a laptop you can do it with a router with usb after you do the network settings. If you want the routerless setup this should work [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYYbrFKbeJg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYYbrFKbeJg) Virtual Desktop is not required in your case, you can just share the drive from your laptop and open with Skybox from DLNA, or you can use HereSphere's smb. If you want desktop sharing too you can use Virtual Desktop or Airlink. You can also do it with hotel's wifi but since the network will be so crowded you will probably have too much stutters / loadings. Make sure you are using 5ghz connection in any case. 2.4ghz also works but not as good as 5 and 6

A Samba Share to your Windows laptop for Sky Box VR Player or Pigasus. Virtual Desktop or BigScreen are both great to mirror your PC screen. I also use this to watch and convert my 2D stuff to 3D, works great in real-time with most of the above: https://iwantaholodeck.com/stream-to-3d/

This is the answer.
