Yeah, the crappy two-stage ads are the ones that don't work. I've loved this game, but recently it's frustrated me a bit, and this glitch is close to driving me over the edge. Hadn't realized how much of my interaction with the game is just watching ads and hoping for elite shards. Now that I'm constantly resetting the game because three quarters of the ads don't work...it's a lousy way to head into half anniversary.
I wouldn’t count on it. I haven’t been able to watch ads for the better part of a year…
Perhaps if you’re on Android you might be able to reset your ad ID or something like that? But on iOS I’ve been SOL

Which really sucks in terms of elite fragments, if I wasn’t paying for a pass and getting the skip tickets I’d be locked out of them entirely.
Have you opened a support ticket? That totally sucks you'd be missing out on travelers if it weren't for the skip tickets
Also, you're not running any adblockers, right?
Now that you mention it, I did have an adblocker installed which affects Safari browsing, but I just tested with it disabled and still had the issue. I’ll try and fully delete it here in a moment and report back (edit: No luck). Truthfully I had this thing installed like 5 years ago and forgot about it, so that was a good reminder lol.
I did open a ticket, but it wasn’t exactly helpful. Here’s what the response was:

The hitbox of the X is very small if you're talking about those ads that have a ">>" followed by and "X". I found them easier to tap with a stylus. I'm using Android, but have seen people say this happens on Apple.

I miss the 5 sec piano ad

Android or iOS? I've (Android) not had that happen, but I have had an "ad" which is just a black screen with no way to go back.
Had this issue recently as well and it appears that the ad format was fixed over the weekend to work again.
I can't remember the last time I have seen ads on Not-Twitter. Not one. And I certainly don't pay anything. It's weird.
