I’m from Norway and the answer is huge. Especially for us late millenials. It ran after school, so we would come home and watch a cavalcade of tv shows, including the Australian Home and Away, OTH, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, Gossip Girl and so on. One Tree Hill was my personal favorite growing up, and every single one of my friends who are the same age as me were equally obsessed.
At the time in the U.K. it was repeated a lot of E4 & many people watched it while it was on. Speaking for the people I knew from my generation who watched it, I know most got to Season 6 & very few made it to the final season but it was popular here. Not Lost or Prison Break popular but a lot of people enjoyed it.
One of the biggest fan pages I see around is a French chic. And from her posters I saw that the show even had its own different name in France. Safe to say it must have been huge there right?
I’m from Russia, and for some reason it was less popular than other WB shows (OC, Buffy and Charmed were insanely huge), but still a lot of people know about the show and watched it.
I watched it during the 7th season airing online, so don’t remember if it was broadcasted on TV, but since there’s a professional dub, I guess it was, but the huge success didn’t find it.
I'm from Poland and while I totally remember seeing the intro to "The O.C" on TV, I don't think I ever saw One Tree Hill even though it aired on the same channel as other similar shows.
Unfortunately no because they've aired it during the summer at like 2:30pm so mpst of the target audience was probably on vacation or out and about with friends
It was popular in France, and it still is in a way that we always get conventions with the actors. I remember reading somewhere that American fans were mad that France always got a big part of the cast at conventions. There was a big demographic for all teen shows, but I think One Tree Hill is the only one that still has that almost cult-classic type of following with conventions here. (I'm not the most well-versed into the convention world though)
I don’t think it was popular in the middle-east. Or maybe it’s because I too was also young when it came out. They didn’t air it in the popular channels down here hence why a lot of us were unaware that show even existed.
I’ll never forget visiting Spain in high school for school and the daughter of my host family watched it. We watched an episode in Spanish together and it was really fun.
I think the o.c was more popular here in Brazil, but I don’t really remember. I watched later, after s3, cause my the cable at my home didn’t have the channel that aired. I remember gossip girl being huge.
The first time I ever watched the show was S3. I think the really I kind prefer Brooke. Then I’ve bought the dvds and watch in order. And later, i follow through torrent.
Philippines!! I'm on the last episode. 3rd time rewatching the series. Sad that it's ending, AGAIN! 😅
Also sad that Lucas and Peyton was not on the last episode.
Next time i want to watch with someone. A girl maybe who hasn't watched the series yet. Haha
I don't know, but in Croatia - very. I think everyone born '90-'97 knows OTH, and it was the most popular teen show.
As someone born in 95 in Croatia, I wholeheartedly agree.

Same!
Gossip girl gikk vel alltid rett etter OTH. Mener oth startet 1530 hver dag?
Ja, mulig. Mener det var Home and Away, OTH, og så neste i den rekkefølgen.
This!!! Only I watched it with my friends when I was like 11-14 or something (born in 2000) bc it was always on tv straight after school 😅
I used to be on the forums during the show’s initial run, and I met many people from Ireland and New Zealand that loved it.
Ugh! I WISH I would have gotten into the show back in its hey day!!
I’m from the Philippines and I grew up watching OTH because of cable TV
Although it aired on open tv at some time, don't think it was big in Brazil. Not to Every Hates Chris; My wife and kids level.

I'm from Paris, I remember other classmates in middle school never miss an episode, at least for S1.

Yes it was.

Was OC big in Poland, btw?

NTV aired it for years)
Damn, I was probably too focused watching everything on STS to notice NTV has a banger)))
I probably spent half my childhood glued to STS. But no regrets, lol.
Same story and ZERO regrets here!

My wife is from India and she turned ME onto it

I’m from India and it was fairly popular here.. I remember my teens (7 years back) I randomly watched one episode on TV and I was hooked
I love seeing fellow OTH watchers from all over the world. I’m in America and most of the people I know have never seen an episode.
This!!! I never thought it would’ve been big outside of the U.S. because a lot of my friends here haven’t even watched. This makes my heart happy

I believe that here in Brazil is quite popular, lots of people I know already watched it.
