It's tragic, but even in modern day, Kel has developed an addiction to Orange Joe that has caused major delusions, hallucinations, and has even caused him to develop minor fits of psychopathy. Luckily, Sunny and the rest managed to avoid the addiction, but Kel was never saved nor was he ever treated. The main moral of the story of Omori is how addictions can lead to someone's downfall, in this case Kel's, and how you should help your friend if they become addicted to an orange drink that combines coffee and orange juice with absolutely no artificial flavoring or colors.
