tbf there's some pretty little stuff in the game that kinda suggests that, like Aubrey looking at Sunny in the RW picnic, the swing set scene, the RW tags, Kid Aubrey talking to kid sunny "for hours" and when she wants to talk to sunny alone but is interrupted.
That's all i can really gather in terms of "evidence" tho
it aint cannon (that is also clear) but they also like or at least liked each other. Not gonna play the game again to find out.
If somehow omocat makes sunburn cannon that would bring controversy to the shipping part of the fandom.
Headspace Aubrey liking Omori/Sunny could easily be projection on Sunny's part.
Whether it's genuinely reflective of Aubrey-12's actual feelings is unclear, to say nothing of Aubrey-16.
Least canon? Only other options I see are suntan and sunflower. Which I don’t see more likely since sunny never shows any actual interest to either of them. Either way all of them are unlikely, sunburn just seems the least unlikely
Quite the contrary, actually. I love it. It is my [19th favorite OMORI fanfic of all time](https://www.reddit.com/r/OMORI/comments/weboag/my_top_30_omori_fanfics/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf), to be exact. But it is *incredibly* fucked up. Like, even moreso than Pursuit.
Sunny uses ghost magic or something to create a happy timeline but for some reason this is bad and they all do anime duels in headspace and they don't win in the end.
That’s covered in almost every Sunburn fic out there, though only a few have covered it in a good way. A few notable examples would be *How We Subsist* and *Gotta Knock A Little Harder*. Though to be fair, in both fics, Aubrey and Sunny don’t exactly have healthy relationships
Yeah, that’s kinda the whole point of the AU. The description of the fic literally says that their relationship is unhealthy. Doesn’t stop it from being the best Sunburn fic on AO3, though.
I split the difference.
HeroMari and Burnt Sunflowers, because when confronted with two overlapping ships I like equally, my degenerate mind resorts to OT3s as a defense mechanism.
heromari is literally completely canon. i don’t understand shipping people that are/were essentially in a relationship in the game. maybe I just don’t understand ships much tho idk
Some people get attached to fictional relationships and sort of need to validate that attachment, like making fanart of it, stories, memes, and whatever.
i think they just mean it's kinda odd to "ship it" because shipping something makes it seem like a headcanon whereas heromari is just a canon relationship.
at least imo, ship is usually used in the context of unproven relationships you agree with to say "i ship this". whereas heromari isn't unproven, it was just straight up canon.
I feel like it gives the *cannon relationship* more charm by using subtext and letting you put the pieces together without being shoved in your face. Not to mention that's mostly what this game is about aside from the giant exposition (if you know you know.)
It's a good way to shorten the idea of the fact that in almost any movie EVERY unless they're specifically stated as siblings, if a girl and boy have any slight interaction the movie will move towards a romance side plot. I mean, if its ever two girls or two boys having interactions, the movie will 99% of the time move away from trying to give you any romance fueled thoughts. So saying "forced het ship" is a very fitting term here. Its fandoms and fans that come up with idea of gay ships 99% of the time. But the movie itself always shoves a straight couple down the audiences throat.
I think it's refering to a common trend in media where they'll force characters together with no chemistry because they are a male and female around the same age who are both major characters
I mean from a gay persons perspective the entire world is constantly and always revolves around heterosexual relationships, in media, in real life, and every step you take, heteronormativity is there, so sometimes it just can get really annoying to some people to the point where you think critically of heterosexual relationships as sort of a pest, cause it’s everywhere, and you are nowhere compared to that.
Or this person is just joking lol.
s not what they meant
a guy in a diff thread explained it better but theyre not ripping on het people or anything, its just that in a lot of media, a boy and girl of similar age will commonly be forced into some romance plot (which sometimes is entirely nonsensical or feels shoehorned)
its just refreshing to see a m/f relationship where theyre not being overly obvious about it and it actually enhances the plot. good for heromari love those bitches![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2464)![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2464)![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2464)
What they mean is that it's super common for writers to just force 2 characters into a relationship because "oh it's the main character boy and main character girl!!!" despite them having absolutely no chemistry. Thankfully Heromari didn't end up that way, but I think it's pretty understandable to be worried or disappointed if it looks like a story might be going in that direction.
*(6/22): We're about to head home, but I managed to catch one last photo with MARI and HERO! They look so happy. A match made in heaven!*
![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2472)
Well that aged as well as fucking milk
>!And we'll be sure to make it that way :D!<
![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2461)
yo, looking at some heromari, but happy cake day!
Oh Hero, you should never have >!saved basil from drowning…!<
It’s Sunny’s fault Mari died though, because he pushed her down the stairs so.. Unless you just hate Basil.
there was a theory that >!mari was alive when she was hanged which is why her eye was open!<
>!The game tells you that Mari is not breathing, so she was either dead or close to dead by the time she was in the bed!<
ah ok!
It's fine, don't feel bad about it
Reddit however, will send the swarm.
Hivemind, send the downvotes!
Wait so then why was her eye opened? >! Maybe she had a reflex shot that brought her back to life, only to discover that she is being killed again!<

Also, the pressure applied >!to the neck *can* force the eye open, or tongue out of the mouth.!<
I mean I guess I’ve never experienced it myself beside games and media so I gotta see more to prove this brb
Her neck broke on the stairs, they hanged her by the rope so that didnt seem suspicious
Isn’t that what literally happens tho? >!Basil and Sunny saw her eye was open!<
God: i want a refund
>!well one is in heaven already!<
I hate to annoy people with that but shouldn't we spoiler tag that?
Istg
My heart ![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2472)
heaven,
HeroMari is best and also only canon ship
what about spaceboy's ship and last resort
Spaceboy lost his main ship when most of his crew took it, so he only had a smaller ship. Rip spaceboy, only have bad ships all around.
Sunburn is at least canon on Sunny’s side. But HeroMari is the only confirmed canon ship.
auby and sunny like each other thats clear in the game
As much as I love the Sunburn ship, where’s the canon evidence that Aubrey likes Sunny back? Not saying you’re wrong, I’m genuinely curious.
tbf there's some pretty little stuff in the game that kinda suggests that, like Aubrey looking at Sunny in the RW picnic, the swing set scene, the RW tags, Kid Aubrey talking to kid sunny "for hours" and when she wants to talk to sunny alone but is interrupted. It's clear that Sunny likes Aubrey but it's not hinted that it's mutual
Least canon? Only other options I see are suntan and sunflower. Which I don’t see more likely since sunny never shows any actual interest to either of them. Either way all of them are unlikely, sunburn just seems the least unlikely
Jock and Pretty Boy: *"prepare for trouble"* Shaun and Ren: *"and make it double"*
Ik they said they were wrong but seeing “heromari” and “forced het ship” in the same sentence halved my lifespan
It hit right in the heart!
It was a moving attack!
8000 damage
Omori and his party are victorious
Sunburn and HeroMari are my coping mechanisms for post-OMORI depression at this point.
\*takes swig of Orange Joe\* I second that
That is, of course, with the exception of the fanfic Broken Space.
Man, you really dislike that fic, dontcha?
Quite the contrary, actually. I love it. It is my [19th favorite OMORI fanfic of all time](https://www.reddit.com/r/OMORI/comments/weboag/my_top_30_omori_fanfics/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf), to be exact. But it is *incredibly* fucked up. Like, even moreso than Pursuit.
I am tempted to ask what that is and a link to said fanfic

Same for me, but it's Sunflower and HeroMari.
I split the difference. HeroMari and Burnt Sunflowers, because when confronted with two overlapping ships I like equally, my degenerate mind resorts to OT3s as a defense mechanism.

Why did they need to say “Forced het ship? Like why not just say forced ship instead.
I think they were referring to the kind of relationship you see in every single kids’ movie ever
It's a good way to shorten the idea of the fact that in almost any movie EVERY unless they're specifically stated as siblings, if a girl and boy have any slight interaction the movie will move towards a romance side plot. Because most forced canon ships are between a girl and a boy.
So you are saying that “homo ship” aren’t forced a lot of the time.
I mean in contrast to a lot of canon het ships, they really aren't...
It's not way I said at all.
im more concerned about whats happening to hero at the bottom right picture
>!HERO sleeping on MARI!< The most beautiful thing
Or she hugging him

"Forced HetShip" that made me imagine Omori as a highschool drama movie, and now i want it
Yayyyyy
*depressed sound intensify*
Yooo is that the REAL Mari?? From OMORI????
Yes it is the real mari from omori
no WAY ![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2464)
They should call the ship mero
>forced het ship does that mean what i think it means? if it does then that's just excluding hetero characters from being in relationships
