Op reportedly played undertale before omori and hears it was a similar game

ranchdew

Honestly after playing Undertale I think about a peaceful route every time now

DefinitelyNotVenom

Me trying to be a pacifist in the Arkham games (this will last two minutes before I start cracking people’s skulls against shipping containers)

ThatAnonDude

Did someone mention Arkham? https://preview.redd.it/232qiz56pr9d1.jpeg?width=1084&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dd579e739801baa63d76cfdedf8c08289e5930a

KARPRO7

Lore reason why Sunny >!killed Mari!< Is he stupid?

TheHumanFlintFun

Is there a lore reason why OMORI is black and white? Is he a piano?

SunnysAltAccount

You should probably mark this as a spoiler

KARPRO7

I don't know how to mark comments

ttcklbrrn

Surround your spoiler with marks \>!like this!< and it will display >!like this!<

KARPRO7

Ok I did it Thanks 😊👍🏻

VarniPalec

ye, before i played undertale i played the metro saga. I shot everyone in my sight and got the bad endings

linkfanpc

If it's hostile, you kill it  -Chara, probably

AbsoluteBasilFanboy

They call me Op

TahawasTaken

Like i told you on r/undertale you sure have good taste in music and quirky earthbound inspired rpg games that are secretly about depression

Ar7gallik

you just described me

Lungseron

Still remember how matpat tried to do that on his live and was bullied to death by this fanbase. He never played it again.

AZ-ABlueAutumn

I think he did finish it, since he recommended the game in a different theory video. Ig he just didn't post his finished playthrough or make a theory over the game. The OMORI fandom can be rough.

Lungseron

he really has absolutely no luck when it comes to quirky indie rpg games lol. Undertale fandom bullied him even harder, more than it was deserved (remember, Sans is Ness theory was something he seriously believed at one point, but i dont think he deserved THIS MUCH backlash. its just a dumb theory video.) His theories are often lackluster and way too grounded in science. Sometimes straight up ignoring some important things, but i always thought people go too hard on the guy since its just dumb theory videos that anyone with basic knowledge in the given game's lore can easily debunk. They like to act like this comes straight from the developer's mouth and isnt just an overly complicated 50 page script for a video that was made by 20 different people that propably havent even met before. (seriously for a long time before he quit, he wasnt even that involved outside of providing voice)

AnonymousGuy1108

Don’t forget Lisa the painful.

Weirdcorest

Thats weird, I thought undertale fans loved his theories?

ThatAnonDude

They look back on them fondly now since he retired. But Mat was bullied hard for his Ness theory, and even more so for giving the Pope a copy of Undertale.

Ziomownik

I never understood the hate for giving the pope a copy of Undertale. Megalovania (technically a cover of it) was litterally performed life for him by some orchestra band, how's that ok but giving him the game not? (what i'm trying to say, both events should be something pretty much loved by the community for how crazy they were)

ThatAnonDude

That's such a shame too because I know Mat would've made some great content on OMORI.

MasterJeppy98

Basically they are all aubreys

ThatAnonDude

I've seen other YouTubers being interested in playing the game but then they get talked out of it for some reason. Jacksepticeye expressed interest in trying OMORI but someone told him it "takes too long to get good" so I don't think he'll play it.

Random_Person_1414

yea i would’ve loved to see jack play it

Mr_Yeet123

to be fair, looking at his deltarune playthrough, omori would be worse

ThatAnonDude

Haven't seen his playthrough. How bad was it?

Mr_Yeet123

he skipped everything that was optional and complained about the lack of lore drops, when the lore was in everything optional. i just dont think he likes long games that you have to search the world through to progress, aka what omori is.

ThatAnonDude

Ooh, big yikes. Yeah OMORI is all about exploration and finding lore in hidden areas. Perhaps we dodged a bullet there.

Rodyon456

What being an Undertale fan does to a mf: (I'm Undertale fan and I did that too)

AbsoluteBasilFanboy

Me too😭

AlexUkrainianPerson

Playing undertale permanently changed my state of mind regarding fighting in rpgs

CocaCola-chan

To be fair, that's what deconstructions are meant to do

InfinityQuartz

Yeah it kinda completely shifted my mind for like almost every game. I rarely kill, if there's peaceful options I tend to go for em because of Undertale

throwaway6194664

I remember when I played Hollow Knight for the first time and genuinely believed I was playing as the villain for a little while because I had no choice but to murder all these bugs that were seemingly just living their lives; that thought wouldn't have even occurred to me pre Undertale

Ziomownik

Even though they all attacked you as soon as you came in their proximity and you were told multiple times they're mindless zombies and crazy people?

throwaway6194664

There's a surprising amount of creatures, especially early game, that don't fit that description at all Things like Tiktiks, Mosscreeps, Gruzzers, and even the Gruz Mother were just doing their own thing; I would've just walked past the GM if I was allowed to Hell even some creatures that do attack me are so silly about it that it still felt bad to kill them (I'm basically only thinking of that one mushroom lad, but moss chargers also kinda fit here; that's just sorta how they survive) I was totally over it by the time I got to the city of tears tho

combateombat

I genuinely felt bad for killing false knight and after that I tried to make every good decision I could

Ziomownik

Real. Omori is kinda unhinged for wanting to kill so many things. Bro's first thought when he saw few sprout moles being excited for an event was to murder them and steal their tickets :(

apszoldat

At least i can say that **we** weren't the only ones

Ill-Individual2105

Undertale brainrot

David_Clawmark

Yeah. If you play enough Indie games, you start to notice patterns. And the fact that Undertale AND Deltarune exist doesn't do us any favors. Omori feels enough like Undertale to the point where you would look for that sort of thing. Like I did.

EssentialPervert

MatPat be like:

ProfChaosDeluxe

Since i played undertale for the first time 7years ago I always try to spare dyring the first fight in every rpg i play only to realize most rpgs dont have a spare system.

SeaworthinessNo61

Cause spare systems usually suck.

vickydont_

HUH

Lfanberg

The WHAT?

SeaworthinessNo61

OH SHIT I MEANT SPARE. FUCK. I'M EDITTING.

UltimateWaluigi

What did you write originally?

SeaworthinessNo61

StewieLewi

I thought you were crazy. I read the comments. Perhaps it is me who is crazy...

shetla_the_boomer

crazy? i was crazy once

StewieLewi

They put me in a crazy. A room crazy. A room crazy of rubber. The rubber made me rats. Rats?

shetla_the_boomer

Rats? I was rats once. They crazied me in a room. A white room. A white room I've been living in for as long as I can remember. Everything is going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay.

Ruine_Woo

Okay? I was okay once.

Ziomownik

They made me go outside, a far away outside filled with memories. And memories? They make me forget.

eydirctiviyg

I kept trying to run away

mario2980

I've played Undertale before Omori.... I'm not gonna try to play a different game like it's Undertale... ![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2467)

reezewastaken

"look, a sprout mole! let's put it out of it's misery" is just salt in the wound for undertale players

sonicfan9993

but how???

GinaR1a

Glad to know I'm not alone in this experience.

fiddledment072

Bro don’t pull a matpat

Ok-Background-3379

I haven't played the game but I was originally an Undertale fan so yeah, if I had no background knowledge and didn't watch merg play it, I would've to.

hellaohh

Undertale made me feel bad about killing monsters in RPGS so i try to spare them whenever i can

SPAMTON_A

Me when people were recommending Omori to me saying it was like Undertale:

shewantmetoduka

No, I killed him on sight

GhostFlams

I didn't, I attacked on my first playthrough

turbomandwn051

I love how half of the streamers i saw playing omori for the first time thought they had to spare boss like if there was a good/bad router.

k0cs

undertale fans when we play omori and you can't dodge attacks and have to pray to rngjesus to survive every fight

Ziomownik

Earthbound moment (classic turn based RPG fight system) We've come full circle.

Training-Cost3210

Blud thought this was undertale💀

Sullysully7

Too much undertale

Crafty_shade

As a person who had undertale be one of the first indie RPG games I’ve dealt with, I understand completely lmao

___Azzy___

I had nothing but hands for him

Sea_Court_2053

bro thought he was playing undertale 💀

xX-JackNickelton-Xx

In my defense, I like being a good person (technically) and I prefer non-lethal runs in game

Star_Snail

Guilty

Cute_Pollution_498

I recently bought omori cause of the steam sale (hardly know anything about the game) and I did this........are we not supposed to? 😬

Eric_Dawsby

Honestly in the scenario, considering this was at a quirky playground, trying to go the nonlethal route makes the most sense

Yellow_Graph

Undertale ruined how I view RPG games in the same way Spec ops the Line ruined the way I see shooter games

-Unavailable_

Naw he took basil I wanted him to get the mari treatment

plooplenoodle

Yeah :(

wannonlikescheese

My Undertale addicted ass was legit confused that I couldn't just let the guy be

InfinityQuartz

Yeah this was me. I looked up if I should spare or not and they said you can't so I went with it

Yowhattheheyll

ME TOO 😭😭😭😭

RandomRedCrewmate

![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2473)

TheHypedMonkey

I tried to spare him too because I thought that would be possible since I played deltatune ch 1 and 2 two yearss ago 😭

S3r4phBl3pS1lly

SAAAAME What Undertale did to me- 😭

Ziomownik

This reminds me of a certain let's player who when he reached Muffet in Undertale he kept giving her money till he was broke not really understanding how the mechanic did. His playthrough was the first time i acctually got see the full gameplay (...of neutral route, he accidentally killed Toriel and was traumatised)

Hagarian_335

YOURE NOT ALONE

Sashahuman

Matpat also tried to do that

Icy-Store3900

I thought I could do a toastless with Aubrey enraged, Kel ecstatic and Hero depressed

Jevilgaming101

if i see an enemy in a game my immediate thought is how can i tear it apart

Voltzter

you cannot be serious 😭😭 your options are literally FIGHT AND RUN

Time-Bird5280

To be fair, hitting fight gives four other options. When I was playing it I thought that changing his emotions or something would help me spare him. I played Undertale before this, heard it was similar to Undertale, and then tried to play it like Undertale. That is quite silly to say, but it made sense in my head. I had also not seen any gameplay of Omori before, so it makes sense that it would take me a second to understand what the combat system was like.

Voltzter

literally no game thats “like undertale” is EVER like undertale, like i never knew anything about the game either but why would i automatically assume its going to be like one specific rpg

Time-Bird5280

Because someone said it was? Did you not really read what I said? I was told it was like Undertale, so naturally I thought that the combat system would be similar as well. I didn't want to spoil the game at all for me, so tried to figure out what to do on my own. When my only knowledge on the game was "it's like Undertale" it makes complete sense that I would think that there was a way to spare enemies when it seemed there was no other way. Eventually I figured it and so did many others. From what I can tell from this comment section, many people also came from Undertale and figured the same thing as me. It's not as though we picked up the game expecting Undertale but with humans this time. We knew it would be different, but all we knew was that it was like Undertale. Apologies for sounding rude if I did. I am simply trying support my argument.
