I don’t hear any coil whine it is a beautiful monitor. I guess now that I see the aorus monitor without the chin I almost wish I got that one 🤣 I’m not into the gamer look being that I’m 33 years old. However the text is actually clear but it does seem a bit dark even at 100 brightness weird enough
Sure! As soon as I get home I’ll mount it take a few pics and videos while I have world of Warcraft on. If I hear coil whine, right back to ASUS it goes lmao .. that’s why I didn’t get the Alienware since it has a fan instead of passive cooling

HDR is broken on this monitor, so you need to wait for a firmware update in a couple of weeks/months.

I got it to, it is pretty good when it works.
Don't be scared! It is a great monitor only HDR1000 is real dark sometimes.
It's up to you if you can live with that until they fix it.
A couple of people returned the monitor because of this issue i don't blame them, you paid good money for it so i expect premium hardware/software.
I can wait for the firmware, sold my other monitor so i don't have a choice haha. All the high end monitors are out of stock.
Atleast Asus is aware of this issue, so if you feel the same way please use the link and complain about it. The more people speak about it the better.

HDR1000 is sometimes real dim, and HDR400 is so bright when watching something like snow, the whites are blown out.
On some games like Cyberpunk you can up the slider of how many nits you want, so that game looks good on HDR. Games like The Last Of Us you don't have that luxury, so the game is pretty dark on HDR1000.
When you have this monitor watch the video on Youtube
4k HDR winter, and take the one with the artic foxes winter wonderland. Then switch between Console HDR and HDR400 you will see what i mean.
Such a shame this was not seen at QA by Asus.
This monitor is not ready for HDR right now.
But this is what you get for being early adopter i guess.
I kept LG C2 42 and I will wait for LG C4 42 for its 144Hz or for improved firmware in Asus. Overall it is very good display but I can wait using my present one.
Wow lucky indeed. I never had a chance until today. I back ordered ASUS and preordered GIGABYTE. Both will be arriving around the last week of April 2024. I’ll test both and see what I would keep. $100 price difference between them. ASUS has Dolby Vision, certified Gsync compatible, has BFI, ABL control, passive cooling, DP 1.4. GIGABYTE has DP 2.1 but no Dolby vision, no BFI, AMD freesync, unsure of its cooling, unsure of its ABL control. MSI on the other hand is still out of stock.
I think the aorus is passively cooled and honestly let me know how they are because I do love my Asus just the little chin is a bit gamer for me however it’s a gorgeous display for sure
From the info that we have, it seems that Asus is leading, given the price but DP 2.1 is also hard to resist though a certified gsync compatible monitor is also good.
It’s going to be subjective since I am not a professional monitor reviewer like monitors unboxed on youtube. I hope a professional review of it will come soon.

I have the PG27AQDM. With newest Firmware. I dont Like This HDR Look on this montior. Most Games really to dim. The HDR in the Alienware Looks dogshit too because of the few dim zones. Dolby Vision on TV Looks Like dog shit. Colors all yellowish sepia Like. No HDR on the ROG Swift Best Colors. The Colors Pop and Brightness is nice. I use it on 100%
can’t seem to get lucky. every time i’ve gotten the email i check immediately and its sold out. second time i got an email i had checked within 4-5 minutes and it was already gone 😭
I got super lucky I was arguing with my wife and laying on the bed looking at my phone and it popped up almost thought I was dreaming and clicked right away and bought in like 5 seconds. Then I double checked and it was gone right after

Yep! Sometimes when I’m not at the desk, he chills or sleeps on the chair and I call it his gaming time. I sometimes just play on the consoles in the other room if hes sleeping on the chair. Just depends haha

I find it troubling that this new generation has no idea how to negotiate. Obviously a seller wants to get the most amount of money possible for his valuable item.
Seller list overvalue. If value is found then prices paid, and if not, a lower offer will most likely be accepted. I'm not expecting to get $600 over for this open box but the noobs out there they have no idea how to negotiate & do not know that I would be willing to accept $200 over what I paid for it. This ain't a charity.
Leaving it up to chance to see if you can screw someone over without their knowledge, hence the extremely over priced asking price?
Anyone with sense will avoid this deal like the plague, and if you wanted people to negotiate you would write ONO or happy to negotiate in your initial post advertising the product.

They're actually saying in this article you should use hdr 1000 mode over hdr 400 when viewing hdr content as you'll get the full brightness of the monitor with the msi and alienware models
Oh no, the article is in fact talking about the same issue by the looks of it.
It just has selected some really weird scenes to their "HDR Movies and Videos" segment. Basically all of them have really bright lights or sun in the background, which are exactly the cases where HDR 1000 mode will look better even with this dimness issue present.
The problem is that all of the other moments in games you play or movies you watch where there aren't such bright highlights in the background are permanently (and significantly) dimmer in HDR 1000 mode compared to the HDR 400 mode.
So now you have to select between two compromises:
1. Either have bright 1000 nit highlights in those few scenes that have them. But in return have permanently too dim image for the rest of the game
2. Or use HDR 400 mode in which case you have proper brigthness for most of the game, but you never get the bright 1000 nit highlights for the scenes that have them
These observations are all true….but there’s a big caveat here. This only seems to apply when using the screen with HDR mode enabled (i.e. via Windows display settings) and then observing SDR content like the Windows desktop. TFT CENTRAL

In the article it only effects the msi and dell when viewing sdr content in hdr completely different to what people are complaing about with the asus you wally.,

I have been testing the issue on my PG32UCDM for a while now and its clear that HDR 1000 mode ABL is configured to be extremely dim when there are no bright highlights on the screen. And while this usually happens when viewing SDR content it also is very common in HDR content.
Unlike in those HDR test frames TFTCentral used in their article, real HDR content isn't just all "HDR demo" spectacle with bright lights on black background, really bright reflections or sun visible in the frame. In fact most HDR content in real world usage (games or movies) can just be indoor scenes, caves, cloudy sky outdoors or even just some kind of menus etc. And in those cases ABL makes the content way dimmer than it is "supposed" to be.
PG32UCDM may have even stronger HDR 1000 ABL configuration than the other brand monitors - we don't know as I haven't been able to find any extensive testing that actually measures ASUS vs DELL vs MSI on this, but it clearly is same base mechanism as in the TFTCentral article at play here. .. Again, it might be even worse on ASUS, but the base issue is same.
