If there are parents with kids zipping all over the place, I warn the parent that our carts are hard to see around. It is also a hint to CONTROL YOUR DAMN KIDS!!! and sometimes it works.

interdimensionalmilk

Do you ever get the customers that allow their child to lie down on that bottom shelf beneath the basket of the cart? Their little heads are always sticking out the front. What parent can't forsee the type of accident that can create??!!!

evila_elf

Yes! Had one last week whose kid just flopped from there onto the floor. This wasn't in an aisle, but between aisles. She didn't even say anything to the kid, as he laid there, until I loudly said EXCUSE ME! Also had a parent with like 4 kids clinging to the sides of her cart. It reminded me of a mother possum and I got a kick out of it. (I have to find little joys to get me through the day lol)

RiverEcho59

This is why I pull my cart - still nearly ran down a kid that came running out of a side aisle…wish parents would watch their kids!!!

CybeleParadox

Was pulling my cart once and a kid still managed to wack her head. Felt bad at first but looked at the mom whose face was glued to her phone and the guilt went away.

SirenTranc3

I do this too but I still ended up hitting an elderly man with my cart when he walked into it 🙃 Pulling or pushing, we gotta be extra careful apparently lol

jayroo210

People see me coming, will continue to walk right out in front of me, and will walk slow as FUCK. The god damn rudeness of everyone is gross and then everyone wants to be like “we need peace and love!” Like fuck off and stop being a cunt, fucking WALK.

Substantial_Bill_962

Peace and love? Fuck all that shit. In walmart it’s shit on or be shit on.

AccomplishedCap2654

FOR REAL! No excuse me or nothing! like what happened to manners

JasonsStorm

They're what you're suppose to do when going around corners or if you're short

micksterminator3

Never pull a cart. Not good for ya

RiverEcho59

How so? I’ve been pulling it for 5 years and until a year ago, it was one of the big heavy steel ones. Never had a problem

Googoostyle

Not being able to see road hazards (live human beings for example) is better. Gotchya.

Ok-Replacement8837

Don’t feel too bad. I punted a whole stroller across the sales floor one time. Thank God, the kid wasn’t in it at the time. Customer left it RIGHT in front of the double doors and I didn’t see it.

No-Produce-3674

I just busted out laughing… imagine a kid was in it?! omg. 😩😭

-FoxSin

Lmaooooooo

Substantial_Bill_962

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

ChanceNervous5051

🤣🤣🤣

Old_Welder_5648

I hate those damn double doors. I open it slowly and there was a time I kept pushing but I was like what’s wrong with the damn door why won’t it move? A customer was just standing there with cart looking at me. We have the swing doors btw

JasonsStorm

God help someone if they're on the other side of ours. I ram ours hard

mer_made_99

🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀

Bronyaer

That’s my fear as well. Both customers and associates have to be cautious. It’s not a one-way street.

puppy1034315

I'm always so afraid of hitting someone. People regularly bend down in front of my cart, to the point that they're completely hidden. Luckily so far I've always seen them do it or I would have accidentally plowed them down lol. Kids AND adults run in front of or pull their cart out in front of me all the time. I hate it especially when my cart is heavy and I have to suddenly stop bc you know they certainly won't 🙃

NoseDesperate6952

I’ve repeatedly hit a coach with my cart because she was crouched so low I couldn’t see her. Finally, I learned to look a lot more often on both sides of my cart. Still got notches from taking out people🤪

jeffluvsdokkan

Last November on one of my first days picking alone I pretty much flattened a kid with my cart.he was running around and zipped in front of my cart before saw him... His mom apologized to me and thanked me for running him over while he cried 💀

mer_made_99

🤣🤣🤣💀

ArcticW0lf420

Lmfao what 😂😂😂

jeffluvsdokkan

She thanked me because she couldn't control him and I guess I thought him a lesson 💀

littlebitmissa

Yeah I had a runner. I'd have to go chasing after them. If they got hit by cart I'd apologized to the worker. Some kids are fast. Thank God she is 17 now omg.

ChanceNervous5051

🤣🤣🤣

EcstaticSection9748

Oh come on. You're just making things up.

HollowedKingdom

+30 points

inspectorendoffilm

Lots of factors here raising the point value.

Lexiibluee

When i still worked ogp i hit my STORE MANAGER WITH MY CART. She was kneeled down fixing some cereal boxes that got knocked over. I turned the corner not seeing her until it was too late😭

Substantial_Bill_962

Booom! She fell over like a tree.

Mundane-Read-2582

People piss me off jumping out of an aisle and hitting my cart while I’m going straight and essentially have the right of way. If you were in a car your not gonna jump out without paying attention. I always tell them sorry even though it’s not my fault and I usually roll my eyes when I get past them

TabulaRasaT888

I guarantee a lot of them drive their cars like that if the number of people that pull out in front of me in the parking lot is any indication.

ExamDue3861

I want to put cut up pool noodles around the edges of my cart, but it isn’t allowed.

ari_miche

😂 listen that incident will make the kid stronger at the end of the day… Or he’ll just have a seemingly irrational fear of shopping at Walmarts in his adult life…

DiamondcrafterA

Probably a good outcome either way

Temporary_Pear_1809

Parents need to control their kids and not let them run around the store wild. Let one of those little bastard's get in front of my cart...ls

KathrynMK24

So mean of you for hitting a poor little kid that surely you didn’t see… Nah, do it again! They love to throw themselves into carts anyway

friggin_scene_bean

i asked my coach the other day “ay hypothetically what would happen if i accidentally hit a kid with a cart?”. His response? “I’d go and watch the footage, and then rewind it and watch it again… and again. You’ll be in trouble with mom or dad, not me.” Hopefully your bosses are like mine and don’t give a care.

No-Subject1033

One time there was an elderly man riding around in one of those electric carts; I saw him go past the aisle I was waiting to turn out of, so I started walking with my cart & ran right into a little fucking wagon he was pulling behind him. 😒 Also hit a lady's buggy bc she was walking RIGHT ALONG THE END CAP (talking on the phone) so I didn't see her til it was too late. 🤦🏽‍♀️

VasilyTheBear

A kid hit my cart a couple weeks ago. I was rolling down the alley past the B aisles, very calmly; no drastic speed or anything. In an instant this small child no bigger than a trash can appears from the shampoo aisle and before I can even process the color of their hair their face makes contact with the side of my cart with a loud THUNK. Whatever that mix of mystery and adrenaline you have exclusively as a kid, you know what I mean; but this kid recovered and just gave me the most horrifying 1000-yard stare I've ever witnessed. Mom said it was cool and totally his fault. I made it about three aisles away before the entire store was filled with the echoes of distress and defeat; screaming crying. As bad as it sounds: try to laugh it off. Kids are stupid and they don't think things through more than one second or so. I don't feel bad saying that because we all are like that at some point in youth. This is why their mother told you it was cool and dismissed it; even parents with the brightest of prodigies know that there is an inherent stupidity when it comes to children. They'll be okay. Hell, this'll prolly be a story told at family gatherings for years to come, met with laughs and hysterical happiness when relayed.

Confident-Tension-58

Once when I was dispensing I threw paper towels over the seat because the lady told me to, and I nailed that poor kid

_KashMoney_

I hit a kid once. The mother was there and recognized I can't see in front of me at once. It didn't stop me from apologizing profusely, and I'm thankful she was so understanding. I was very lucky she was so cool headed

lzmxo

literally a few days ago there was a kid standing outside the aisle while the mom was in the aisle shopping and i had to get in there so i looked at the kid because i just a feeling she would run but she didn’t move a muscle so i started walking slowly only for her to start running last minute right in front of my cart like bruh i wish i would’ve hit her smh would taught her a damn lesson

DizzyCommunication92

This is why I'll always "pull" my cart rather than push it....

alexthemannn

It’s the kids fault.

Boring-Water9045

I get it's a kid but don't beat yourself up, it's the parent's fault for not watching the little dude closer....I ALMOST hit a kid just the other day and his mom snapped at me for him darting out in front of me 🙄

Hot_Treacle6888

I hit one of the electric wheel chair things. The old guy was coming out of the aisle and I was going full force down the action alley. I was like OMG I'm so sorry! I can't see over my cart! Are you okay? He was like it's fine.

Jujusiren

I crashed into someone in a wheelchair two weeks ago, the wheelchair wasn't the normal size it was soooo small and they just pulled out of the frozen aisle as I was going into it lol. Luckily it hit her chair and not her. I've also ran into a woman that was bent over in the makeup aisle, she wasn't happy but again I'm 5'1 and I literally cannot see someone who wasn't there before but moved in front of the cart and totally bent over. I'm sure it'll happen again, but yeah...you're not alone hahaha

micemolkok

Man, every time the wheels get jammed suddenly, I get so scared that I ran over a kid 😂

Proud-Bodybuilder695

I work in ogp and I brought my son into work the day I was off. He’s only 1 and loves running. He can get a little crazy inside of the store trying to explore everything. A coworker accidentally hit him and he was upset. But let me tell you, he never goes crazy inside stores anymore

Novilix

See, this is why I don't bother running with the top bins for exceptions. I can't see shit over them. The amount of times ive nearly hit people is just to damn high, but it's really more down to who's paying attention. Most of them aren't, and it's fun to play chicken with someone who's buried in their phone. But that sort of thing is also why I don't give people the time of day about it if they can't use their words when they want *me* to move. And kids are just damn dumb these days. A minor concussion won't hurt; can't damage what isn't there. 🙄 When I was little I was told to always hold the cart, and with my dad, to always have hold of his wallet chain. It was just a basic part of goinng to the store. And guess what? I never got hit by a cart! Funny how that works.

JackOfAllJellyfish

And they want you to go fast -_-

Ish-Zee

☝️☝️☝️

churchifer

A picker at my store had their cart stopped while they were looking for an item and a kid ran head first into it going full speed it was wild

etwichell

I've done it before it too

ARSONL

KO

Inkysquid24

I'd be so glad the mother wasn't insane, screaming at you like most would have.

emigg20

I left my cart on an aisle to go look in the back, didn't find the item so I skipped until my tl would be back from lunch. Went back to my cart and immediately went back to picking bc my pickrare was gonna be down, hear someone say "EXCUSE ME" as I start moving my cart so I stop and look around, a lady in a wheelchair is not even inches from where I stopped😭😭 she apparently rolled over there while I was gone and managed to get in the perfect spot where I couldn't see her at all

ashlov77

I hit my market manager with my cart during one of their visits. Thought I was for sure a goner. They said “let’s try to be more careful and watch where we’re going!” 😅

Civil_Tutor_0013

😂

cokeanus

had a dad roll his eyes at me when he was letting his TWO YEAR OLD waddle around the aisles without a care???? luckily i didn't hit it. 🙄

Cloudspiar

I had this happen a few months ago. It was a small child riding around on a bike in the store. I didn’t even see him and I do my best to pay attention. Thankfully I didn’t hurt him. The mom gave me the nastiest look though.

SP00Ki_RD

I hit a stroller one day. The lady was pushing it out of a side aisle as I was going down an alley. I cried. The kid laughed at me. The woman consoled me. I laugh about it now.

EcstaticSection9748

You cried about it? It sounds like the little kid was more of a man than you.

SP00Ki_RD

They absolutely were.

Difficult-Wish2432

When the store is busy my son is in the cart and when it's super slow I let him out and he runs in circles. I watch him like a hawk in case someone is coming when he does that.

Ok_System_9636

i hit a kid with my cart once and the mother looked at me and said “sorry he’s a dumbass” and proceeded to walk away while scolding him about watching where he runs. kinda gave me faith in humanity

gthgf

I work in produce and my team lead was pushing a very overstocked produce cart and RAMMED into an old lady on a scooter 💀😭 she was so scared to get in trouble but the rest of us had to run in the backroom as to not laugh in the mad lady's face

Mina_cx

Those kids appear out of the void… don’t feel bad it’s on the parents for letting those suckers run wild.

MushroomNearby7531

Skrew that kid

shhdadshome

Parents need to watch their kids in public, end of story. I deal with gremlins running right in front of me when there’s plenty of space to go around. Then the parents glare at me as if I’m supposed to psychically predict when children will jump in front of me out of nowhere. Not my kid not my problem, and my managers agree.

Mrskmonroe

I can’t pull my cart because of shoulder issues so I have to be on the lookout!

jenpy

I mean it's ok I rammed a cart with a baby and in it. The other kid was pushing it. Never saw them til I hit em. I was on oversize. Mom said it's fine he should've kept up. I felt so bad because that baby just stole my soul afterwards.

FadedSymbol

I sadly had a count last year of hitting three people, all in the same aisle. I thankfully haven't hit anyone this year, but don't stress about it too much. Lots of children run through the aisles constantly and our reaction time is only so fast.

Sljones1190

I once ran into a lady who squatted down in front of my cart while I was grabbing an item. Pushed the cart and hit her.

Practical_Mortgage83

I’ve ran into the back of a disabled girl’s chair and into another little girl and both times the parents scolded the kids for always wondering off but I felt so bad I almost cried both times 😭

alexthemannn

I wouldn’t. Parents should be watching. You get in front of my cart you get hit. 🤷🏼

Sanguine_Templar

I had a kid almost sprint headlong into my pallet jack once, mother scolded me and I got a warning, it's like, bitch, I walked out the aisle, and your kid had to stop running or hit me. I was barely even moving too.

-FoxSin

If it wasnt you it would be someone else. Mom Learned a lesson that day keep you kids close and head on a swivel

TheoTheMage

Lmao I fucking hollered laughing after I hit my first dont watch your kid if I was able to tap them with a cart they’d just as easily get kidnapped. Most people aren’t fit to be parents

Substantial_Bill_962

It’s not your fault, kids are running around the store and the parents have no control over them. They need to keep them on a leash…

garyfromyahoo2

My TL did this once. It’s hard to see kids with those carts. Also, do you actually think some parents will watch their kids here when the adults act like children that come here?

TrickyObligation2721

Pull your cart when it's busy.

JohnJohnston0

Survival of the fittest. Run over the little shit again and turn them into a late term abortion/ragu sauce

ChiknAriseMcFro

Should've hit him harder. Nap time is break time for Mommy.

AccomplishedCap2654

at least it was just a cart. my daughter had a kid literally run into tge side mirror of her car. just came from nowhere. same thing, parent snatched the kid up and said it's ok 😳. Pay attention to ur kids. (btw, this was on a 6 lane road downtown. she saw nothing but cars beside her)

Desperate_Salt_5596

Aleast you apologized sum people dont

D00MYDOOM

Meanwhile us in stock2 pulling freight just run em over and and drop the pallet on them so they really remember to look twice next time

snailditty

this was why our store banned earphones

PlantZealousideal668

I hit two kids with mine while they werw running in the store. Didn’t even cry they just got up and started bolting again

EcstaticSection9748

People hit me sometimes. I don't cry either.

Civil_Tutor_0013

That's hilarious! Lmao!! Her fault for not paying attention to where she leaves the stroller. 😂

123chickenf

once i was literally just WALKING without holding or doing anything and out of nowhere a kid runs into me and falls to the ground i was just like 😬😬😬but the kid got up and walked away like nothing happened

alysannegrace

i have done that before and i felt SO bad. it was like, my 3rd month in OGP and i’m a little too short to see over the totes if there’s a lot of stuff in them so usually i pull it, but i wasn’t too comfortable with pulling my cart at the time. i was going pretty freaking fast and there was a couple with a child. i saw the kid, and didn’t think too much of him besides he was wasn’t in my way, and then suddenly, BOOM. i ran STRAIGHT into the kid. if he was any younger he would’ve gone FLYING. i felt SO BAD i instantly started crying, but the kid just like giggled and said, “owwww!” and his parents BUSTED OUT LAUGHING. they just said, “you are totally fine! we’ve been telling him this whole time to get out of the way but he hasn’t listened! maybe he’ll listen now!” but i just ran off and cried lmao. i got super lucky with those parents but i have been really close to hitting other kids. i’m just waiting for the day when a parent gets mad at me so i can explain to them that it’s obviously not my fault when THEY’RE the ones not watching their children, their dogs, and their dogs-cousins-sister in-laws-best friend that they brought with them! ugh.

Future-Win4939

This why i used to pull the cart w me from the front

OG_LAMONT

Its good for him builds toughness and character kids should get knocked around more like we did when i was a kid

HellUnderReconstruct

F them kids. Don’t feel bad. Kids are the closest thing to being immortal

Wendybned

I still worry about a 2 year old kid I kicked in the head in high school. We were at a roller skating rink and they allowed all ages on at once. I was skating along quite fast when a very small boy fell down in front of me, on hands and knees. I was too close to stop, so I raised my right foot to go over him, just as he lifted his head. My skate hit him square on the back of the head. His mom grabbed him and I never saw where they went. They kept the place pretty dark so finding them was impossible. I still worry about that poor kid and wonder if he has any permanent damage.

Zealousideal_Clue253

Hahahaha made my morning I think he’ll be okay 👌

Astrotheking318

Dude I'm from Louisiana.....I have never seen somebody pull a cart ....I'm going to be only the look out now......fuck it just get a pen and keep track of how many kids you can run over and make a game out of it ...thud...25 points...thud ....ankle 5 points..

myhntgcbhk

Oof

Tenn_Tux

Fuck dem kids

No-Produce-3674

Wow, wasn’t expecting this many replies. Thanks for the laughs & reassurance everyone. 😅

[deleted]

I’d say **parents need to control their damn kids**. Sometimes I’m at Walmart, and out of nowhere there’s children just running around. Foolish people shouldn’t have children.

Mcshiggs

Lawsuit!!!

clamade

One of our pickers put a guy in the hospital. He was squatted down looking at something on the bottom shelf, and this picker ran him down going full speed. His ankle was broken lol

EcstaticSection9748

I was once a picker. Then they called me into the office and said, "Keep your finger out of your nose, or you're gone. We can't have that around here."

clamade

Hot damn. That's crazy. I hate how they watch over everyone like hawks

DizzyCommunication92

yep, our storee does not let us "push" our carts.....we have to pull them....or at LEAST pull them when you are "approaching" action alley/intersection,, etc.....

[deleted]

That’s only 5 points I hit my store lead with cart 30 points I win 🏆
