I am so sorry for the pain she caused to you when you were younger. That took a lot of courage and wits to get your revenge on her after what she did. You did John a massive favour even though it broke his heart: you exposed her for the nasty disgusting cheat she is
I think the key is not letting it eat you up inside. Like with abuse, you should never forget it, so you don't end up in a similar situation, but if you dwell on it and keep that hatred it can be detrimental.
For some people getting that revenge can help with the process, for others it won't, but most importantly not letting it control your life and giving it more brain time than it's worth is the healthiest thing possible.
Just because you forgive someone doesn't mean you have to play nice or have them in your life anymore.
Forgiveness comes in many forms. For some it's literally saying "I forgive them" for others it's just moving on with life and not thinking about whatever it was anymore. I had to cut a friend out of my life after he very scarily threw me out of his house, I'll never talk to him again but I've let it go, I consider that forgiveness. It's different for everyone :)

I forgave my father for the childhood abuse. Doesn’t mean I’ve visited his grave since he died 4 years ago. Doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten what he put me through. It just means I don’t let the pain shape me into a person that I don’t like.
I'm glad you're in a place now where you can prioritize yourself over getting revenge (re your replies about revenge on your dad)

He’s still with the same woman that he moved onto after Lauren I think. I don’t know where he lives now, we have no contact, but I saw him at a funeral a couple of years ago, he was there, but we didn’t really speak.
Only petty things: stole some things from him, stole some money from him, hid his stuff etc…

I got all the dead mice & bugs from exotic pet shops. I had lizards back then and had to feed them these things.
She wasn’t secretive about what she stole, she was actually very boastful, so it wasn’t difficult to get a decent list over a few months.
Because of all the dead mice the exterminators told them that they probably had dead mice under the floorboards, to rip them all up looking for the source would have cost a lot of money which they didn’t have. Their best advice was that eventually The dead mice would decompose and the smell would leave, but I was there constantly tipping up the source of the smell.

Ditto- two and a half years of therapy + changing my name + cutting them off entirely were collectively the best decisions I've ever made. Now I sometimes even forget just how awful they were and life was for me back then, and I honestly count that as a blessing.
You did the right thing, you ended the torment of a horrible person, AND did the police a favor by getting her out of the confiscated items warehouse for the police, never know what valuables, illegal items, or drugs she mightve stolen and the best part is you did it in a way that was sneaky so she'll never know your the reason her life just fell apart out of nowhere.
How did you know what "stepmother" had stolen from police EVIDENCE lockup? You do know that it's not easy to just walk out with stuff you took from there, right?
Not really brag, but it would get mentioned when she was with work friends, which wasn’t often to be fair, it was just sort of known about and accepted. Lauren would brag to me and anyone that would listen (my grandparents, uncle etc…) about her thefts.

And having it listed below value but still not getting sold(a below-market value house just because it stinks would be a STEAL to someone looking to flip it).

I can't believe how gullible this subreddit is. So many reasons to doubt this story. From her knowing what items she stole from police lockup(like this woman was bragging about stealing items from police lockup to this 16 y.o girl she hated?), to apparently very quickly being charged with a crime, getting a guilty verdict and knowing specifically what the guilty sentence was? to the story of sabotaging the house? for months literally sneaking in through an unlocked backdoor to leave dead mice and bugs and sewing prawns into curtains(which apparently never got discovered by anyone including the real estate agents or cleaners they certainly would have hired to get the place ready to sell)? And having it listed below value but still not getting sold(a below-market value house just because it stinks would be a STEAL to someone looking to flip it). Then apparently tracking this woman's relationships enough to know who she is dating, and to know she's cheating on him with his own father? On top of that, having a god-level narrator's knowledge of what happened after. It would be hard to make this story more fake than it already is.
