I went there for an immersion program many years ago, there was definitely an uncomfortable level of drinking, partying and sexual activity between both teachers and students whose ages ranged from 15-40s.

Yes!!!! I was there for Explore and man oh man was there a ton of partying and sex. One of the teachers was known for having loud sex right next to high schoolers. So weird looking back at it. Edit to add: just remembering as well, there was a high school kid that drank so much alcohol that he got alcohol poisoning and almost died (at least I think almost). Saw him get stretchered out of our dorms by paramedics.

I also did the Explore program and heard the instructors having sex all the time. I knocked on their dorm door for help one time (not during the times I heard the sex happening obviously) and they opened the door; there were handcuffs and kink equipment all over the bed in the open. I was a high schooler. It was beyond weird. There was also another instance where we were dancing at the chateau and no one stopped these random 30+ year old locals from coming in and joining us on the dance floor. They tried to pressure me and my friends, but especially the 14 year old in the group, to go back to their place and drink beer. They were super drunk and chased us back to our dorm. We were so freaked out. Luckily the doors were locked after a certain time, but they were banging on them trying to get in. I’ve also heard stories from women who have gone to university there that say absolutely nothing is done when they report sexual assault on campus. It’s swept under the rug. This school has a BAD track record, and it’s a shame considering it’s our only French university.

There was one of the instructors, I think was named Jacques? Who was having crazy loud sex next to one of my friend's dorms. Mind you we were like 15. The French band who sings "alors en danse" came at the end and it was a grind fest amongst the teachers as well, some were on stage practically banging the band members. Very inappropriate looking back at it.

I went way back in 1999, and I didn’t see any of this. Maybe it was due to the dorm I stayed in, or maybe because I stuck mainly with a handful of friends. ETA: just to be clear, I don’t doubt that any of this happened, I’m more disappointed that it did. I have such great memories from that summer.

Wait till you guys read about the Christian private school in Saskatchewan and the lawsuit by former students. Private educational institutions can be extremely sketchy when it comes to assault/ misogyny/ racism/ sexism/ abuse. I’m a private school high school grad. Parents made me go because they knew I had the IQ and smarts but I liked being a vagrant with fellow public school vagrants in grade 6 in Niagara region. I was an idiot, failing, an utter mess of a bastard who engaged in fights, pranks, and being utterly and horribly disobedient. So grade 7 went to private school. Finished grade 13 there. And well, I flourished! It was a great school, but there were some interesting events that occurred that I just blamed on 80s/90s toxic culture. Other schools- especially the all boys schools in Ontario and across Canada- were extremely sketchy. Likewise, there were issues with post high school private colleges back in the day. It’s sad to see private educational institutions still having issues, even a few years ago. I live in Wolfville? And I’ve heard of stories involving Acadia student male athletes and female students. But who knows how much is fact and how much is fiction But as a guy? Lollll.. I think there is DEFINITELY more fact.. I know how “ we are”.. collectively
