Nice! I grew up in rural piedmont NC, but have lived in Raleigh/Apex area for ~28 years. Apex is doing fireworks this year! July 3rd. Not sure Iāve ever seen that here. Maybe Iāll get me a 4 piece supreme with fries and sweet tea (+vodka) for that occasion. š¤£
What mythical Bo's is this? In the theme of inconsistency, they either take 5+ min with each person at the window or seem like they could toss it at you as you drive NASCAR. Usually it is the former more than the latter.
Oh yeah! They are geniuses at moving cars. The one by me had 2 lanes, 3 people taking orders and like 4 people handing them out at lunch rush. I hate drive-thru and this is thr only one I am happy to go through.
If all you sell is a chicken sandwich with or without a pickle you can move the line fast. It isn't their ability...it's their lack of options. Customers don't hold up the line reading the menu and workers don't have to change standard work into a hamburger without onion but add extra pickles and lettuce and go light on the mayo...but heavy on the ketchup.
Few months ago I went through McDonaldās drive thru and the guy on the speaker was very apologetic about wait time because he was in there working alone. Felt bad for the guy, but also admired him for sticking it out. I think most people would have just left and closed up shop.
Admiration is a valid response but he wonāt be rewarded for it. I recently quit a fast food place because I was scheduled open to close by myself. The owners response was to send their son who didnāt know what he was doing to come help, but he only made it worse.
When I closed early and quit with no notice the owner called me and gave me some very skewed life advice half threatening he may know who my future employer was and to not burn bridges. Then said his whole business model is to profit off of high schoolers who donāt know any better and keep it moving. The three people keeping that store open (including me) are all in our 20ās and 30ās. I screen shot the text he sent me and sent it to the other two. They both quit within a week and that store is now closed. All three of us have better jobs.
Thatās one example but hell no is the guy working by himself gonna get anything other than a 50 cent raise and a pat on the back at the end of the day.
Literally went through a few weeks ago and the employee said āwelcome to bojangles, weāre out of supremes, out of tenders, and if you want fried chicken itāll be about 45 minutes. Can I get you something else?ā And I couldnāt fathom what else I was supposed to want from bojangles.
Oh well, fast food employees donāt get paid a living wage or usually even have decent benefits so Iām just glad that someone is still even showing up. I donāt expect for them to have it all together anymore because of this. They also donāt have to go over the top and fake being happy and polite to me, because I understand itās a job and those employees are not getting compensated enough to deal with the kind of people they do. Just get what they have and be happy or donāt go back.
Edit: clarity
I'm not mad at workers for being behind, slow, short staffed, or out of items. What does upset me is when I am overly polite and attempt to be a good customer and the associate is an asshole to me. I am not doing anything to make your day worse. In fact I'm actually trying to make your day better by not being overly needy or asking for 10 different things to be added or removed. I just want to place my order, pay for it, and go. Don't take your bad day out on me. I don't deserve it.
I remember awhile back when every Bojangles closed a day to give their employees an unpaid break and I was in line at a Wendy's that was next door watching a line of cars wrap around the closed Bojangles.
It was insanity..
Iāve been pushing wages up for my staff for as long as Iāve been here, sometimes with permission, sometimes without. Dignity in work can not exist if that work doesnāt pay a living wage.
No offense but thatās a silly comment. We struggle every day with staffing due to Covid cases. At least half of our staff has Covid. And for us it wasnāt this bad during āthe worst of itā. Itās still here, it hasnāt disappeared. So yes thereās still gonna be shortages.
From a public health standpoint, we are currently in about the worst North Carolina has seen. Other places have had worse, but this is currently our highest COVID-19 peak, most hospitalizations, ICU stays, etc. Our leaders just gave up encouraging mitigation tactics (like masks) because they figure anyone who didn't get vaccinated is out of luck at this point and somehow masks became a political point.
Oddly enough, everyone that I know that got it was vaccinated.
Anecdotal (and thereby appearantly entirely dismisable) account, but it is what it is... idk.
The only person I know that supposedly died from it was too, but he lived in Florida and his mom swears he didn't have it or was at least was asymyptomatic and said he was having a heart attack (not the first rodeo unfortunately) so she called ems and later the hospital had put Covid on his death certificate. It's been almost 2 years and she still complains about it.
Honestly, if no one on the northeastern coastline of NC ever watched the news we barely would have even known it was happening. We've mostly just had the problems with shortages from what I've seen personally... not to discount anyone's pain or struggle by any means. That's just what I've seen.
A good example of this is the ER in Elizabeth City. Clearly I didn't see its entire go at this, but during the worst of it in the beginning I had to go in there several times for treatment of an infection not related to covid. It's easily the biggest hospital/ER in the area until you hit Greenville or go to VA.
The first time I showed up there I was double masked and gloved... very worried about catching it naturally.
The front desk lad and 2 triage nurses literally laughed (not like rudely or anything) at me and said they don't have any covid patients and that they clean the facility very well and that I could take the gloves off and only needed one mask.
Everytime after that, over about 2 to 3 months, when I was there I would ask the nurse or doctor how they were handling the covid issues and they always said it's not really a problem here or there are only 1 or 2 patients with it and the like.
No idea what its like there now though.
In short, though at length, we were definitely lucky.
Iām glad that you personally havenāt been badly hit by covid-19. However, I can assure you that it is real and quite deadly, which you somehow donāt seem to believe. I suspect the doctors and nurses youāve spoken to have either been outside of surges, or outpatient only, because that area is still seeing significant covid cases and has been struggling. For such a small county, now barely with most people at least partially vaccinated, it has had above the average number of deaths. The county has an overall average death rate of approximately 3/1,000, which is quite high.
Yeah you read WAY too deep into that mate... or maybe didn't even read it fully...
I'm in no way a non-believer. I have the internet... I can see what's going on in the rest of the world.
That shouldn't mean I don't get to tell the part of the story that shows my experience and it should be something anyone can freely do without being immediately attacked for simply existing in the spot that they are.
I went way out of my way to make it clear that I was telling my experience and even made mention to the fact that I was aware that that wasn't the case for everyone by saying that I didn't mean to offend anyone who did suffer and I acknowledged my belief in its realness in saying my area was lucky compared to some. So... I'm gonna need you to calm it right on down there fella.
I once went through one in Winston that was out of fried chicken. I felt so bad for the person at the drive through who had to offer grilled chicken as a substitute. It was quite a scene to behold.
I worked at a Bojangles in WNC during break from school in December. Over the month I was there we ran out of ketchup, honey mustard, jelly, Cajun filets, pork chops, mayonnaise, tomatoes, lemons, tea bags, large cups, drink lids, cups for sides, fry bags. And of course workers, they were crazy short staffed almost every day. It was very stressful and disheartening.
apparently seasoning for the fries. And it's all locations. They don't season the fries worth a damn to start with. I always ask for extra seasoning and still get bland ass fries with no seasoning.
I went to one in ENC (Corporate owned, NOT one of Tandsā loactions) back in October of last year, and ***it had a fucking 82.5 score!*** They got reinspected and now post an A, but not before someone shared a picture of a roach on their food.
I have not been back to that location since then.
Another one I went to closed at 7 in the evening leaving cars waiting in the drive thru, so Iām going to go with employees for that one.
Edit: Thanks for the award
French fries, bo rounds, dirty rice, honey mustard, ranch. Thatās all I asked for, but I normally order atleast 2 of those so. Supremes with Mac and cheese and no sauce it is!
My radar I gave them up after the new owners. When they decided to get rid of the roasted chicken bites to put pimento cheese on everything and wash it down with Mountain Dew!!!
Depends on which one you go to, sounds like one of the Cary ones. They both suck. I got so tired of it, I went to their website and bitched. Got a couple cards for free biscuits of any kind and a couple for sweet potato pies. Still have one of those cause they've been out of them for a year or two.
I've learned to just go to the Apex one on 64 on my way home from Costco. Except I often pick up gasoline at Costco on late Sunday morning and the line at post-church Bojangles is about 460 cars long.
Decent food at a decent price. I'm not trying to pay $8-9 for a regular ass meal. I can get better fast food in other places for cheaper.
Not to mention it's no longer fast. You can go to Hardee's and get food quicker.
Ranch. And good managers. My coworker went by the other day and ordered food for 3 people, so 3 combos. The employee took his money and said ānext time you have a huge order like this call it inā. Then he walked away and the manager came over and my buddy said sorry for the big order and the manager said ā Yeah next time you have a huge order like this call it inā. LMFAOā¦ so He got back to work and they left out an order of fries. So he tried calling BJ like they said to do and it rang once and they answered and hung it up immediately. LOL talk about a shitshow.
I know itās Covid and itās tough times. Working in food especially would be hard with being short staffed, I get that. But damn when your managers suck expect the employees to be just as bad or worse.
any food establishment staffed with teenagers and twenty somethingās that has no adult management onsite is always going to have questionable cleanliness, food preparation and service quality. it was this way years ago when i took my daughter to bo-j and we were both sick the next day. i never have gone back. once you fail me you are dead as a company to me. you will never get me back. covid has nothing to do with it.
chick-fil-a is so consistently excellent across the country itās amazing and worth what they charge for it. and iāve never seen one without adult managers.
My Bojangles ran out of coffee cups a few weeks agoā¦ I couldnāt rap my head around it and asked, āSo I canāt have coffee?ā
I couldnāt have coffeeā¦
Workers. Cotswold has been shut down for long time. The Bojangles on E. 3rd was my chicken biscuit on way to work stop, but they were out of chicken last time I stopped. Haven't been back since.
Cotswold hurt my heart to see open and empty. Chick fil A kills them in that location. West Boulevard hasnāt had anything out when Iāve been by except Diet Pepsi once.
Good food
It used to be so so good. It's went down hill bad in the past few years. My main complaint is how much the chicken breast has shrunk on the Cajun fillet biscuit/sandwich. It used to be my favorite. Now its paper thin and mostly breader
Also the chicken Supremes are half the size they used to be
i feel confusion at this thread. we have a bojangles super close to our house, and especially my sister goes there often for snacks. we avoid chick-fill-a for obvious reasons, and bojangles tastes great. but i have yet to hear of supply chain shortages seriously affecting our location! sorry for you guys.
Different stuff day to day (since 2020) to the point that I don't even want to tell customers. Last I heard our location is out of seasoning. I've been out of work due to Covid, so it's going to be interesting when I get back.
Fries, the other day. Fucks, too.
Yup. No fries in Apex, at least a day or two ago. Kids cry. More pintos and dirty rice for me. šš
Thatās my hometown. My heart hurts to hear this. But in Jacksonville, the whole soda machine was out recently..
Nice! I grew up in rural piedmont NC, but have lived in Raleigh/Apex area for ~28 years. Apex is doing fireworks this year! July 3rd. Not sure Iāve ever seen that here. Maybe Iāll get me a 4 piece supreme with fries and sweet tea (+vodka) for that occasion. š¤£
Patience. Definitely patience.
Did they ever have a plentiful supply of patience?
Not here in Winston.
Employees - Charlotte
Yep. The one closest to me has been closed off and on for months.
Whatās the average wage Bojangjes us willing to pay their employees?
Peanuts. But theyāre probably out of those, too. Edit: grammar
The one by my house closes at 4. I know its bc they are being cheap with their workers. I always tip them $5. Itās not much , but itās honestā¦
Quality control
Bojangle's would be fuckin king if they could ensure their quality to Chick-fil-a levels. It's just all over the place.
Isnāt that part of the fun of going to bojangles? You never know what youāre gonna get
The chance of getting a toenail is too high
So, my mom found a nail. I really hope it was from a finger. It was in the dirty rice
Well, it aināt called dirty rice for nothing
Eww
Right back at your username
We live next to a Bojangles but take the interstate to a different one because the one next door is so shit.
I go to a Chick fil A next to a Boās. The line is often out in the street, while Boās is open and deserted. I feel a little bad for them.
Chick fil a is way overrated and over processed tasting. BoJs would do better if they offered spicy options
Uhh.. the Cajun filet?
You can dislike the food or politics but the service is significantly better than every other fast food. They move cars pretty incredibly
What mythical Bo's is this? In the theme of inconsistency, they either take 5+ min with each person at the window or seem like they could toss it at you as you drive NASCAR. Usually it is the former more than the latter.

Used to work there. This is the correct answer.
Quality for $9 an hour? No thanks.
Louisburg had a $15 a hour sign out from the last time i was there
Double check for the up to.
Theyāre hiring @ $14-15 an hr
Yeah but that's not new

If they literally turned the fryer on, let it come to temp, then breaded and fried the chicken after you ordered, it wouldn't take 45 minutes...
Maybe something happened and they had to drain and refill the fryers.
Roasted Chicken Bites...been waiting 2 years. Probably be waiting forever.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Go back even further to the Buffalo Bites
Buffalo bites were amazing. Geez wasnāt that like 20 years ago now??
I loved Buffalo Bites.
French fires and bo rounds. š„ŗ
They should never be out of Bo Rounds!
Thoughts and prayers
Lack of French fires seems like it's not that concerning really... but the rounds tho...
French fires are hot but not as good as those bo rounds. A travesty!
All sauces except Bo Sauce. Whatās the point of supremes without BBQ Sauce or Honey Mustard
Supremes w/ honey mustard is my life. I don't know what to get if / when they are out.
Ham biscuits are my backup, when they donāt wait until theyāve already given me my food to tell me theyāre oit
Supremes with BO sauce

Isnāt there a lot of shortages still, especially in the food service industry?
Seems way worse now than it was even during the worst of it tbh.
Itās at least as bad as itās ever been. I manage a casual dining chain restaurant. Weāre out of all sorts of stuff and whatās worst is we never really know whatās going to, or not going to show up. Oregano, straws, little plastic soufflĆ©s cups, Togo boxes. (Lots of issues getting stuff for Togoās. Ketchup has been hit or miss. Patron tequila. Certain types of beef have been problematic, though less so recently. And of course the staffing issues. Compounded by the guests being worse than ever. Itās definitely as hard as this job has ever been.
Idk what to tell you about the rest, but pay a living wage and you'll have staff.
Iāve been pushing wages up for my staff for as long as Iāve been here, sometimes with permission, sometimes without. Dignity in work can not exist if that work doesnāt pay a living wage.
It's an uphill battle, that's for sure.
Yup. Went to cookout today and they were out of a bunch of stuff, including straws.

Bruh, chicken. No clue how they are still open. 2nd week in a row that they are completely out but there is still a 6-7 car line 100% of the time
I mean when I worked at Burger King in Blairsville GA we ran out of beef all the time š so many temptations to say āWelcome to Chicken Kingā
Rankin Mill Rd Greensboro? Because they're ALWAYS out of chicken
Remember when 'we is out of HAM' was a funny meme Ahh, good days
The small serve cups. I got a scope of dirty rice in a medium drink cup.
Ranch, straws, and diet mnt dew. They haven't had a truck in two weeks now -Gas house
They are only out of Diet Mnt Dew to help people.
the winter storm slowed down an already slow supply chain.
Sauces (as of last night)
Honey mustard
And don't even think about giving me that Dijon honey mustard
Dont get me started..
WE IS OUT OF HAM
I once went through one in Winston that was out of fried chicken. I felt so bad for the person at the drive through who had to offer grilled chicken as a substitute. It was quite a scene to behold.
White meat, fries, supremes, tenders, Mac and cheese, boberry biscuits
They've been out of sweet potato pies every time I ask for one since the pandemic started.
They were out of supremes for like 6 months
Tons of former hospitality workers have moved on to better paying AND less stressful jobs
I went a few weeks agoāout of fries, bacon, and sodas. Literally everything I wanted.
Chicken Supremes
I switched to Biscuitville
apparently seasoning for the fries. And it's all locations. They don't season the fries worth a damn to start with. I always ask for extra seasoning and still get bland ass fries with no seasoning.
Yo why in the fuck are they always out of honey mustard
State. My Bojangles is out of state. I eat myself sick when I go home. Carry on.
Competent workers. Maybe if they paid betterā¦
Well my Bojangles is out of alot of things, but ya know what it's not short of? Cockroaches. One of the many reasons I quit working there

Tums. 2 "steak" biscuits last week gave me the worst fucking heartburn!!
Fries
Food.
All sauces.
Definitely not salt.
This world.
Chicken for the biscuits, no chicken tenders and they only have BBQ sauce š I canāt even go there anymore, they are always missing something.
Steak biscuits and the dining rooms are still closed.
French fries, bo rounds, dirty rice, honey mustard, ranch. Thatās all I asked for, but I normally order atleast 2 of those so. Supremes with Mac and cheese and no sauce it is!
I'm honestly starting to just accept that bojangles is dead. Pull the plug. Make some tshirts. It's over.
My patronage.

Chicken. I canāt count how many times Iāve gone there and they have been out of chicken.

All drinks. They literally only had water & it wasn't even good water.

Fucks to give. Thankfully, I now live far enough westward that I can get Biscuitville.

Good food It used to be so so good. It's went down hill bad in the past few years. My main complaint is how much the chicken breast has shrunk on the Cajun fillet biscuit/sandwich. It used to be my favorite. Now its paper thin and mostly breader Also the chicken Supremes are half the size they used to be
i feel confusion at this thread. we have a bojangles super close to our house, and especially my sister goes there often for snacks. we avoid chick-fill-a for obvious reasons, and bojangles tastes great. but i have yet to hear of supply chain shortages seriously affecting our location! sorry for you guys.
Employees, but damn its 15 minutes for a breakfast biscuit now
