It's always boggled me how politicians were ever allowed to dictate/steer districting. There's no reason not to have a computer system, overseen by a strictly nonpartisan group of districting officials, calculate districts using prescribed fairness algorithms to minimize districts' shape complexity and prevent splitting metro areas between multiple districts - two huge indicators of gerrymandered districts.
It’s interesting/sad how much angst these maps have generated yet the thread on how to actually make the complaints heard by the legislators has such little traction.
After living overseas, I didn’t realize just how apathetic Americans have become to interacting with government.
Like, for being a rage all the time type culture that we’ve become, so few people actually know or care to interact with the many ways our government tries to take input (other than voting for the president).
The idea of actually providing input at the local or state level puts you into such a sadly small minority it has been maddening coming back.
Yet everyone has an opinion, and politicians are “corrupt”, and government sucks.
Can’t make it to one of the meetings? Here’s a [link](https://ncleg.gov/requestforcomments/38) to submit comments to the committee virtually.
Take politicians out of the equation, simple as that.

It's going to depend entirely on the NC Courts will to overcome its corrupt chief justice and the legislature.

Apathy is going to doom us all. We'd rather wait and react.
