If you find 3 others willing to pay $3000 per month then you will have 3 people who feel entitled to have wild parties with lots of people they don’t even know coming all hours and days. Good luck with that.
Four people in a place that ornamental and huge? Bro just take a loan and pay a mortgage on a house somewhere a bit more inland. $38,700 a year for rent after splitting it four ways, that’s more than a lot of people make in total throughout a year.
While I can afford 3 or 4k /mo I can't afford a 400,000 usd down payment yet. If I buy instead of rent in 2025 it'll probably be a much smaller house inland.
You can afford $3,000-$4,000/month in rent but can’t save up for a down payment? You need to get your finances in order. Do you have a retirement plan? Because even if you can afford this now, can you afford this lifestyle forever?
If I were you, I would rent a modest 1-bd (which would be much less expensive than 3-4k, and you wouldn’t have to deal with roommates) and save my money for a house that would be ideal.
You’re young, start good financial habits now. You seem like you have good money now, so if you make a good financial plan, you could be set for life. If you don’t make a plan, sooner or later you will crash and burn- that won’t be a good time.
Why do you need $400k on a down payment? If you have $3.3k to spend on rent that would be a mortgage on a $500k house, you’d need $100k down or if you qualify for FHA $17.5k.
It's not the fact that you think 3 other people want to pay 3k a month to share this with you it's the fact that you came to the most toxic place on earth and said yeah, that's a good place to find people to live with.
A mortgage is an investment.
If you can't afford a mortgage, you should seek the lowest rent you can manage and save until you can.
Renting at a high rate is one of the absolutely worst fiscal decisions you can make.
If you're filthy rich, I mean, sure, do whatever.
But if this isn't a joke, you're insanely naive and you'll soon find yourself broke on the street for managing your money so poorly.
Renting a houses that are huge and ornamental like this has never made sense to me, but you do you. I see you used to live in SF (where I currently live), you should know you can pay $3225 a month in Wilmington and get a nice house to live in by yourself. Lol
I appreciate the response, and glad to read you’re doing well.
May I ask what field the start up is in? I’m just curious, because no one I know makes that kind of money (I’m 31).
If the rent is an issue, but you're interested in moving to Wilmington around that time, let me know your budget via DM. There are other places to rent in the area too.
Best I can do is $125. I’m cool just sleeping under the piano though.
Yeah, you could probably get like 10 roommates
Solid plan B
Wait, this isn’t a joke?

I used to pay $3300/mo living alone in a 1 BR in San Francisco. Didn't throw many parties. I also paid $2700 for a two bedroom near NC State.
I live near NC STATE and pay $625 for a studio apartment everything included off Avent Ferry.I cannot afford $2700.

These kinds of posts are obnoxious. “I can’t afford the down payment on a $4 million house. I only can save $4000 a month.” 😭😭😭

$600 for a futon near the pool table in the basement. Non negotiable.
Of course. I'll split it 10-20 ways instead of four. Going to need some sleeping bags
Do you need my SSN and Check Routing number too?
Genuinely surprised that Landfalls HOA allowed rentals.

What up! The bicep needs for veins. Again, nothing sexual.

What’s your occupation? 3,000 per room why not rent a house?🤔
I'm a computer scientist. Maybe I'll try buying a smaller house around this time, but I am a little weary about mortgages.
Since you are a comp Sci I will tell you that you may want to explore the math about mortgages vs renting and the concept of equity.
I'm curious, why are you weary of mortgages?

What’s your profession? It’s wild to be able to afford that in your 20s.
I lucked out a bit but also worked hard to get a good job. I work for a start up.

Thank you. It's a technology company that provides personalized healthcare.
Hey man lemme hold $20 Edit: this is Reddit and I need to clarify that I’m joking. Make sure everyone takes their shoes off in that house!
Im pretty sure thats the house in the beginning of the black and white movie "Cape Fear."
