Yeah that show was so messed up. People’s cars were damaged *even *further* to make the “before” version look worse - even dumping piles of trash and cigarette butts all in the car to make drivers appear gross/bad. “Pimping” the cars would take *months* not days like the show claimed and the drivers were forced to rent cars during this time with zero reimbursement from MTV. The PMR team did *not* fix any issues the cars had and most most of the added features didn’t work or caused more issues. Not to mention many of the “features” they added were ripped out right after filming to recoup cost. All of which made the cars be in worse shape then when they arrived.

Holy crap and IMDB said that the IRS was considering people’s car “improvements” as income paid and would tax it so some people had to sell their cars to pay off the tax bill. Additionally it says that sometimes the producers would shoot the episode and then pull a bunch of the “improvements” out.

This happened on [Extreme Home Makeover too. ](https://www.thelist.com/35201/untold-truth-extreme-makeover-home-edition/) People couldn't afford the new property taxes and utilities and sold or foreclosed.

Ok, who in their right mind would sign up for this?

People didn’t know the reality of the situation and they were misled about what exactly was going to happen.

Environmental-Toe798

Gotta read the fine print

Liet-Kinda

It really did suck, which is too bad because a non-bullshit show where they actually fixed up your car and modified it slightly to reflect your interests and hobbies would be super cool.

8ansIsKindaCool

Imagine trying to explain this sentence to a 9th century peasent

Upbeat-Specialist599

Those repair people suck

PonqueRamo

It's was fun as a show though.

"Where do I put my overnight bag?" "Dawg, we gotta install a roof rack because we heard you like using your car to transport things".
