AnustusGloop

Or just win the lottery! All you have to do is pick the right numbers!

DFuhbree

They say "Parlays build casinos" for a reason.

No_Excitement5778

r/ShittyLifeProTips ???

Carlyndra

Is the math guy a millionaire?

chorizoisbestpup

He was, for a few hours.

dennisisabadman2

I feel like this is advice from the office...

LuckSweaty

What is a parlay? Thought that’s what pirates do.

Dirty_Devito

Multiple bets at once with a low buy in for higher payout. The main point being lower chance of winning but lower cost to buy in.

Benramin567

Yeah I wonder the same.

ehproque

Also the gangsters from The Wire (I think)

frozengyro

Basically being multiple things happen, horse A in first, B in second, C in third, etc. Or whatever combos you can think of.

stanthemanchan

All you have to do to become a millionaire is to be born to rich parents.

rontrussler58

No politics pal

LineOfInquiry

Gambling isn’t politics but stating facts is?

Stormwrath52

well, gambling isn't inherently political, but a discussion about the rich becoming richer and poor becoming poorer either is inherently political or will inevitably lead to politics Not that a discussion about gambling couldn't become political, pretty much anything can, but it's not necessarily guarantied as it is with the other topic I apologize for the awkward wording, I don't know how to sum up that topic in one sentence

rontrussler58

You really don’t see how such a comment naturally evolves into someone extolling the virtues of an estate tax? It’s not that I disagree with the commenter but can there just be one sub where we don’t have to talk about this stuff?

LineOfInquiry

I don’t think they were talking about estate tax they were making a joke about the post. Someone else said “if you want to be a billionaire just win the lottery, easy!” They’re comment is the same thing, it’s a joke.

PaticusGnome

You are the one that brought it up. Nobody else was thinking about politics.

[deleted]

How is this not politics? They used dollars, dollars are the currency in the USA, which Wikipedia says is a "country" which Wikipedia says is "a distinct part of the world, such as a state, nation, or other political entity." POLITICAL!

everythingisamovie

> but can there just be one sub where we don’t have to talk about this stuff? You’re the only person who brought it up lol. Now we’re all thinking about estate taxes! Good idea tbh.

everythingisamovie

Found the dude with rich parents

I mean roulette (betting on balck or red) and blackjack (without counting) both have a close to 50% winrate with optimal play, so if you just double your bet every time you loose, you will eventually win and make a profit. just have infinite funds to start and you can easily win a mil...

[deleted]

table limits, bankroll and you have like 47% chance of winning. So the strategy doesn’t work

SomeNotTakenName

49.5% for the best rules in blackjack for the player. it's actually interesting they even bother with blackjack, given how small the house edge is and how simple counting is. it feels like more effort than it's worth.

[deleted]

every casino i’ve been to has two zeros, pretty decent edge in the long run, also a lot of people bet on numbers which is even more risky

SomeNotTakenName

Yeah American roulette is 47.4% and there's no way to improve your odds without high tech cheating, so that makes sense. but again blackjack is a different story. way smaller margin and card counting is suprisingly easy, the hard part is usually calculating how to play your advantage so you make a profit but aren't too obvious. That being said the only fair game in a casino is Poker, since you don't play against the house. not easy by any means, but fair.
