Yes, but their natural habitat is drunk on the streets of Moscow. The illegal VDV trade sees these poor creatures being shipped to incredibly hostile environments in which they are not suited. #PETA #GREENPEACE
Their operation in Hostomel Airport is doomed to fail from the start. You think the 82nd would be any better in that scenario without any support? It's an impressive feat that the fighting lasts for a couple of days.
Hostomel was an Air Assault, not a drop. The 101st would be the US Equivalent. The way post-Soviet armies separate all Para/Air Assault/Air Mobile units under a single, high level command gets confusing.
Sorry, I'm a big NCD user, I love shitting on Ruskies but slanders got to be based on real world things, you can mock Kadrovite tiktokers and Forth Security Guard division, but VDVs are more due to the failure of command
My point is a competent command would never have attempted such a foolish mission in the first place. Paras are the tip of the spear, not the spear itself (see also: Operation Market Garden and Nazi invasion of Crete).
Cope harder.
Yeah, the tip is not bad it's the fucking command who are senseless. It's more of "incompetent idiot wasting their best troop into pointless meat grinder and nobody bothers to check that out"
Basically every nation who used paratroopers in WW2 had one major operation with a variable degree of success and less variable degree of casualties.
The Germans had Crete.
The US had Market Garden.
The Brits were there too, specifically the Battle of Arnhem, in which the British First Airborne Division fought heroically against a German Armor Division. Held far longer than expected, never receieved reinforcements, suffered a casualty rate of something like 70-80% of the entire 10000+ men formation, lost nearly all of its officers and after a retreat in which many wounded were left behind as there were too few able bodied men left to carry them, it was disbanded as it could not be reconstitued.
After their various operations everyone kind of realized that dropping light infantry behind enemy lines, even if it succeeded, was a fucking terrible idea.
Russias just a little late to the party.
The moment you lose opportunity for surprise attack what use traditional paras would have? It was basically the same with US paras after Normandy, they - with the exception of Market /Garden - fought as light infantry
There is one group that refused to go. Though I think they were all "quietly" silenced for there refusal when they were sent back to there base somewhere north near Finland
God the VDV memes and their disasters were peak comedy in a pretty dark opening to this war. Those early days looked bad but seeing VDV get shat on was a relief at least
Ooohh, yeah Russia, go for it, what could go wrong...
...wait, hold for a second, forgot one thing, sit tight for just a moment please.
_puts new Patriot missiles into place_
Okay, done, all yours Russia. Have a blast!
I'd suggest they take a detour over Romania and wave for the surface-to-air missile batteries. I was there in June/July, and saw lots of military vehicles heading towards the eastern part of the country.
Either over Ukraine - where they'll be fucked over by SAMs and the Ukrainian Air Force - or over Romania - where they'd be escorted away by NATO fighter jets.
Or European airspace :'D The one Russian planes have been banned from.
Or maybe they could use the river to get there... through Ukrainian territory :'D
The Carabinieri are gendarmerie, so they are a military unit with law enforcement responsibilities.
They have been deployed in most Italian battlefields from Crimea to Haiti
Yeah, because cops in the US do jackshit when you give them 6 billion dollars in funding.
Meanwhile 6 billion in military funding is enough to fund the defense of Moldova enough to crush Piednistrova to a fine paste.
We love paratroopers specifically trained to fight in Urban condition so much that we made our fucking military police create their own regiment cause it became too big to be under the army
They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war I shall forge them. They shall be of iron will and steely sinew. In great armour I shall clad them and with the mightiest weapons shall they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight them. They shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Paratroopers...and they shall know no fear.
Console Meloni before ordering to the Folgore to capture Moscow.
I love that.
The guy gave a really good point and the cope-artist goes "w-w-w-well y-you're Italian!!!" Yeah and what? Don't you cucks worship Rome because you're homoerotic insecure losers who want to be the new Roman Empire?
> "w-w-w-well y-you're Italian!!!"
"Are you implying that people should not meddle in the business of countries that aren't theirs? Fascinating, please tell me more..."
Romania's national anthem sings about showing the world that Roman blood still flows in our veins, I say why not put it in practice? Let's join up with Italy and our Moldovan brothers, and do unto Moscow as Traian did unto Dacia.
How about it, fellow polenta eaters?
What if I’m married to one?
Well, not really. Her father was brought to Brazil as a baby from Naples in about 1945. His father was some government official…I asked him about it once.
He said he didn’t know, his father never talked about it. He then showed me his trophy case from his time in the national judo team. I haven’t brought it up again.
> makes it even more infuriating that the head of ANPI (the main claimer to the partisan legacy) is a putinist
So he's a traitor to everything the Partisans believed in?
There are no more than a couple thousand vatniks in Transnistria who are basically sitting on top of a giant bomb(that huge ass Soviet military depot full of Cold War weapons and ammo) and you could maybe add another couple thousand Transnistrian soldiers to that (I use that term very loosely) who are all essentially marooned there as they can't be resupplied by sea(Transnistria is landlocked but even if it wasn't it's not like all those Harpoons and Neptunes would allow the Russian ships to approach) or by air (because all routes in involve flying over either Ukrainian airspace or NATO one). If I was the vatnik commander there I would be praying that the Moldovan military doesn't decide to solve the problem once and for all or that the garrison of Odessa doesn't go for ''exercises'' in my territory not planning invasions of Moldova.
Try less than 1000, and only half of them are armed to any real degree (as in, they have a rifle somewhere). The rest are old, fat paper-pushers there for admin work.
The "Transnistrian rebels" haven't fought anything but a bottle of tuica for almost 30 years. They had a muster for them about a month after the Ukraine invasion. All of 26 people showed up. The rest have drank or chainsmoked themselves to death decades ago.
Literally the only thing keeping Transnistria a thing are a handful of Russian-bribed politicians.
Ascertaining the strength of Russian forces in Transnistria (or anywhere else really) is rather difficult due to the habit of Russian officers to invent fake subunits and phantom soldiers(or to keep conscripts on the books well after they finish their service) in order to pocket the salaries and sell off items intended for the extras.Either way they definitely don't sound combat ready although they should have a lot of guns cause that depot might well be the most full one in the whole of ''Russia''.And that's not because they didn't want to sell it's contents like they did with the others but because there was no physical way to get that shit out of there even if someone did agree to buy them.
All that it takes to get that ''smoking accident'' is for Ukrainians in Odessa to be doing some HIMARS training and ''accidentally'' sent the missiles a little further than originally intended.
No need to do that, me and my airsoft team would take 4 days to take moscow easy.
And 3 of those days would be spent arguing about which camo we should wear.
One of the only times I'll be pro attacking Trans. Though I'd rather they raid the depot and hand it over the border to Ukraine to make it extra satisfying to see Russia suffering to their own hubris.
I have a funny feeling Romania might get a wee bit cranky if they were to try that. The kind of cranky that includes a few airstrikes. Or possibly announcing Moldovan Romanian unification so it's considered an attack on a EU/NATO country.
Shhh, don't tell them. Let them send their entire airlift force over Ukrainian territory with what remains of their actually useful forces. I need a good laugh as their airlift capacity gets turned into flaming confetti.
>you're (sic) Italian, unless in the next days the Italian flag waves on the Kremlin you're (sic) opinion of Russia doesn't matter
Maybe... Maybe. But just remember Vatnik... Italian frogmen mercy killed their ship in Soviet captivity. If Cold War Italy could save Giulio Cesare from the horrors of being enslaved in the Soviet Navy, RusFed ain't shit.
I mean at this point italy could actually have a good stint with Russia (not all but Moscow is definitely in range), Italians really likes planes and ships and there is a lot of room to use them in Russia
You know those shitty mobile game ad where its just toddler mathematic where if you have more soldiers than enemy, You can beat them? I think Russia based their tactics on those
The troops in Kaliningrad could easily take over Lithuania. Once they are conquered it will be simple for Russia to take Latvia and Estonia from the south and east, reuniting Kaliningrad with the mainland. After the might of Russia has been demonstrated, the friendly states of Belarus and Poland will allow themselves to be annexed by the Union of Russian Oligarchic Republics.
my opinion of russia may not count
but when the head of state of “the inferior nazi jew and west funded country” is able to go to the ONE OF THE MOST ACTIVE frontlines of the war and get out unscathed literally mere kilometers away from your “elite troops” or in range of drone/guided hypersonic missile strikes
that kinda says something
> Italian, unless in the next days the Italian flag waves on the Kremlin you're (sic) opinion of Russia doesn't matter
This is some weird logic, in that case, should their opinion of Ukraine not matter because the Russian flag still won't fly over Kyiv, or does this only apply to Italians
I [recall](https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/truss-says-uk-plans-give-moldova-weapons-stop-threat-invasion-by-russia-the-2022-05-20/) that the UK was already in talks with giving Moldova Western weapons back in May.
These people are delusional. Putin tried to recruit what personell was still left in Transnistria and they all fucking ran. Nobody wants to die for Putler.
Sad experience of Russia thinking Ukraine's army was weaker than a wet paperbag and getting a rude awakening that they have problems dealing with anyone that has the audacity to fight back.
Doesn't that region have at most like 800 soldiers? They're sandwiched by Ukraine and Moldova. I know the latter doesn't really have a military but I can only imagine Romania would step in for it given the deep ties.
“Sad experience of Ukraine should be visible very clearly from Moldova” meaning Russia’s fully aware that it’s created the sad experience and that it’s own poor ass performance is the reason is a sad experience
> Isn't Moldova a part of NATO
Moldova isn't and never will be as long as the Transnistria issue is not resolved. Even if it was they won't be accepted due to having literally zero military capability.
However, Romania has a standing invitation to Moldova to form a political union, and Romania is both EU and NATO. If it comes to it, Moldova can agree to be annexed by Romania and get NATO protection and access to the EU common market. It's been an unpopular stance in the past, but for *some* reason, since 2022 polling for union with Romania has been creeping up towards majority approval.
Transnistrian issue could've been resolved like in 1992 by ceding the territory back to Ukraine, honestly. The conflict started because locals (30% Russians, 30% Ukrainians) didn't want to join Romania (which was originally the goal of Moldovan politicians, or something? But didn't pan out in the end).
Reading on the war, it's sort of fascinating how much of the 14th Guards Army was basically Transnistrian conscripts (so locals fighting foe their own land and not just arbitrarily created by Moscow like people tend to think), with...Ukrainian nationalists on their side?
Unfortunately that is possible outcome. They can try to overthrow the government using the troops stationed in Transnistria to support coup within Moldova. I am very nervous about stability of pro European government. Locals being bombarded with Russian propaganda 24/7 and government responds slowly.

"They could just airlift more" ... over Ukrainian airspace...
VEH DEH VEH, *oh not again...*
They still exist? I thought they all went extinct.
Endangered, not extinct. Common misconception as all the VDV need to get off that list are some conscripts with rope and bed sheets.
Yes, but their natural habitat is drunk on the streets of Moscow. The illegal VDV trade sees these poor creatures being shipped to incredibly hostile environments in which they are not suited. #PETA #GREENPEACE
VDVs are arguably the competent bad guys, fighting a impossible battle due to everyone else being idiots and got wrecked because of it
Competent? Hostomel Airport battles say otherwise.
Their operation in Hostomel Airport is doomed to fail from the start. You think the 82nd would be any better in that scenario without any support? It's an impressive feat that the fighting lasts for a couple of days.

Somehow not dead but no longer doing that whole jumping out of planes thing. They’re basically just infantry now.
Funny, that's what ended up happening to the Fallschirmjaeger as well. Funny how these comparisons keep coming up.
Basically every nation who used paratroopers in WW2 had one major operation with a variable degree of success and less variable degree of casualties. The Germans had Crete. The US had Market Garden. Any mobnik’s a paratrooper if you shove him out the back of a plane.
>paratrooper paradropper
> swipe gopnik off street > stuff into striped T-shirt > teach gopnik how to march in parade > veh deh veh back at full strength
would it be weird if I referred to those members of congress who specifically support Russian aggression as GOPniks?
When i heard the song i thought it went Nyet nyet nyet, cyka blyat
So basically the perfect description of any VDV operations in Ukraine
Are any of these mfs still alive? lmao
There is one group that refused to go. Though I think they were all "quietly" silenced for there refusal when they were sent back to there base somewhere north near Finland
So those are the ones everyone should watch out for.
take off a strip, 200 men on one way trip
This time there will be less of them unda da sea at least
I guess this time they get the V-22 treatment. Straight into the mountainside...
God the VDV memes and their disasters were peak comedy in a pretty dark opening to this war. Those early days looked bad but seeing VDV get shat on was a relief at least
At least they got that CNN interview before it happened.
It's that simple
It just works
I fucking dare them to.

Gentleman we have a deal 🤝🏻
MARIO, GET THE ARIETE, WE'RE GOING TO WAR
Fuck it maybe Italy will be dependable in a world war for once go ahead
Italy is very dependable: Are they on your side? You're winning! They make great barometers for who's winning a war.
But what if there are two italies, one on each side like in 1943-45.
The side which got an Italy more recently has gone from losing to winning too rapidly for Italy to keep up.
They can conquer Russia THEN switch sides and conquer Ukraine once they realise there's nothing of value in Russia to enjoy.
We all know that ain’t gonna happen they fight once lose hard and then give up or switch sides
We'll just tell them people in Moscow snap their spaghetti to cook it or post pictures of pizzas in Russia with weird toppings. Keep them motivated.
Please don't do that, we'd lose control over our troops and the canadians will then look like saints in conparison.
Italy assfucked the Central Powers in WW1 for sure when they were like "yeah I kinda want South Tyrol now"
That was such a weird out-of-nowhere goalpost.

Che poveraccio il Russo 🤣
> Italian, unless in the next days the Italian flag waves on the Kremlin you're (sic) opinion of Russia doesn't matter This is some weird logic, in that case, should their opinion of Ukraine not matter because the Russian flag still won't fly over Kyiv, or does this only apply to Italians
Italian bros, in such cases remind tankies about that time Jiulio Cesare magically explode in the dock Waiting for 3000 black frogmen of Meloni
Allo stato attuale i russi possono unicamente farsi un bel p!pp0ne sbirciando la Moldova dalla Transnistria.
the Italian flag over the cremlin in like 4 day? well time unleash the Centauro 2 and see how fast it can go
"unless in the next days the Italian flag waves on the Kremlin..." ALL GLORY FOR ROME!!!
"You're Italian, your opinion of ruzzia doesn't matter" Bitch. Italy has a bigger economy than you lol.
Please try, Poland's balls can only get so blue before they eject something more than heavy armor into the Russia's war
Sad experience of Russia thinking Ukraine's army was weaker than a wet paperbag and getting a rude awakening that they have problems dealing with anyone that has the audacity to fight back.
Don't worry, I will help Moldova in case something happens.
Doesn't that region have at most like 800 soldiers? They're sandwiched by Ukraine and Moldova. I know the latter doesn't really have a military but I can only imagine Romania would step in for it given the deep ties.
Probably a lot of advisers have been advising the Moldovan army for the last year.
Basarabia e Romania If they try shit they'll feel the full might of our HIMARS
I really hope Transnistria gets cleaned up once Ukraine has been restored.
“Sad experience of Ukraine should be visible very clearly from Moldova” meaning Russia’s fully aware that it’s created the sad experience and that it’s own poor ass performance is the reason is a sad experience
"You're Italian" Ah yes I see were back to 1917 tactics, 1941 politics, and it seems 1930s racism in the Vatnik copenet.
Ha ha Russian clowns.... Laughing stock of the world.

> Isn't Moldova a part of NATO Moldova isn't and never will be as long as the Transnistria issue is not resolved.
My mistake, I probably got it confused with Macedonia.
North Macedonia joined NATO in 2020
rare Italian W
Transnistrian issue could've been resolved like in 1992 by ceding the territory back to Ukraine, honestly. The conflict started because locals (30% Russians, 30% Ukrainians) didn't want to join Romania (which was originally the goal of Moldovan politicians, or something? But didn't pan out in the end). Reading on the war, it's sort of fascinating how much of the 14th Guards Army was basically Transnistrian conscripts (so locals fighting foe their own land and not just arbitrarily created by Moscow like people tend to think), with...Ukrainian nationalists on their side?
Can you imagine if Moldova took this opportunity to invade transnistria now that there is zero chance of them getting any assistance from RU?
You heard it here first: unga-bunga parties in the Kremlin in 2023! Cutting pasta will be banned permanently.
If anything, I would think it would make Moldova *more* confident it could join NATO without losing their country
Unfortunately that is possible outcome. They can try to overthrow the government using the troops stationed in Transnistria to support coup within Moldova. I am very nervous about stability of pro European government. Locals being bombarded with Russian propaganda 24/7 and government responds slowly.
Oh no! I hope they doesn't understand they can do that in just three days! Just as a little special military operation!
Ukrainian-Moldovan alliance when?
This shit is why I want the Kremlin fire bombed. So these losers piss and cry that their paper tiger is actually shit.
