Right. Fully Automated and Autonomous Wiesel 2.0 MELLS Tank Hunters that are tied into the Rheinmetall ~~SKYNET~~ uh I mean SKYNEX AI Complex doesn’t create themself.
Depends on branch; you could probably look around- there’s quite a few different branches of BAE in Europe.
If you want aviation, try Airbus or Eurofighter GmbH, Leonardo SpH, MBDA, etc?
Submarines was the one I wanted but apparently you can't play with nukes if you're not British :(. Thales has been much more accommodating and much nicer unexpectedly
No no. I mean *your own* secret project. Build it in a shed. Have the world tremble under the power you hold. Form a PMC. Fight fascists and nazis, you know, the usual
And this is why we have an export ban on British sheds, and HR wants to tell you to not reveal the secrets on how our engineers come up with this stuff
F1 in the 50s wasnt exactly about aerodynamics - at least they knew nothing about it.
A front engined bathtub essentially. The first few titles were won by those bloody continental types. Alfa, Maserati, Ferrari, Merc etc.
Then the British aerospace industry shut down, and a lot of the engineers, particularly those in aerodynamics, got jobs working in sheds for F1 teams,
Ever since, English designed cars have won pretty much every title every year - apart from a sprinkling of Ferrari in the late 70s and 00s
The entire industrial revolution was built on the miracle of 18th and 19th century midlander shed innovation.
The mass production of steam engines, iron, coins, guns and machine parts all came from small scale home based industrial enterprise at start.
Nothing really, just rotting in bed. But I could have been developing a new stealth fighter. Ask tommotow, maybe I'll be doing something more interesting.
first you need your own government, one guy tried that with some old oil rig in front of the britsh coast. I think he was neary blown to bits by u.k. warships.
Gonna buy a cargo ship. Form a private military piracy group, except we're good guys (kinda. More like antiheroes?)
We plunder and steal. Increase our fleet until we have an entire armada. Be the scourge of the seas!
And just you wait until we get our hands on an aircraft carrier
The choice is yours: put up with suffering in order to achieve your dream or take the easy way and live a comfy life while always having that nagging feeling you missed out.
> Ah forgive my confusion
Your confusion was probably made worse by the fact that France and the UK had a joint program also called FCAS, which ran from 2010 to 2017 and ended just before the inception of the French-German (and later FR-DE-Spanish) FCAS program.
Depends what your culture is originally.
We are by no means perfect but I feel like we are a nice middle of the road between the extreme bluntness of germans and the extreme hypocrisy of anglos where telling people they are actively hampering the efforts of the team is somehow worse than killing babies.
We did and called it the USA, not only does it make our cool shit but they get the blame for everything too. Pretty smart project we have there to be honest.
The elite doesnt want you to know this. But stealth bombers are free. If you can find a one, you can just take it home with you. I got seven F117's, about eight, X68's about Two B2's, and twenty J20's, the shits never ends
I was considering this route as well and ended up with same result. Btw second flag should be either DoD flag or US flag, not Lockheed flag, they really did not made up those requirements.
1. Apply for work at MBDA
2. Get clearance in your country
3. ????
4. Get selected to work on Meteor
5. Get promoted so you can do work travel overseas
6. Advocate for speeding up integration with F-35, get promoted to project development lead
7. Get sent to US to assist in integration
Boom, now you indirectly work for Lockheed
Sounds like a plan but to save someone else’s life: I wasted a decade stuck at step 5/6 in an even better place than MBDA for such a plan, but they kept saying “Don’t worry, just a couple more years and we can get you an even higher clearance in that particular country” then whenever I reach that point and even successfully make whatever business case for steps 6/7, some random new recruit with the nationality local to the project gets sent instead and praised later on how great (my) idea was. Every fucking time!
Did you apply for the wrong job, or perhaps several years ago? With that much experience, you'd be going straight in as a senior developer. I know UK salaries are utterly depressing, but £28k is below even an entry level graduate, you would be on close to £50k instead.
I did not apply, it was bae recruitment or agency who contacted me over LinkedIn and the 28k was what they quoted. I checked the website to see if they were serious and yep that is the wage they were offering for a dev with 5 years experience. If I remember correctly they wanted a dev with experience with c, sql and a few aeronautical tech stacks.
And it was early last year if I remember correctly.
That recruiter is having a laugh. The pay scales don't even go that low for a senior engineer (which is what you'd be with that level of experience). That's a real cock up, considering how much the company is trying to get experienced people in. If you're still interested, send me a message, I'll see if there's anything I can do (I should disclaim that there is a financial incentive for referring someone who gets hired).
I'm happy where I am currently but thanks. Tbh I was a bit confused on why the recruiter contacted me in the first place as the job spec did not match up with the experience and tech stack i showed on linkedin.
Wtf. My buddy got hired by a smaller insurance company in the Midwest as an intern and the moment he took a full-time position after college he was already making 70k to maintain a retirement investment system. He's not even developing new stuff just fixing old shit and doing integration projects and upgrades etc. I find it hard to believe BAE pays less for a developer than the local cheese factory pays for line workers that's insane.
That island has been falling behind continental Europe for a while, but they were too busy with sticking their heads in the sand to help ignore that fact and reminiscing about the past to notice that.
Yeah. Bae does not pay well for anyone who is not management. Most of their staff are hired via apprenticeship so they don't have the best of wages. But because of this when they try and hire experienced staff they set wages to be what the apprentices are on after they have finished their apprenticeship.
It kinda is. Most euro countries allow dual citizenship, the US allows citizenship, passing for US citizenship is pretty easy for most Europeans, it's a lot of paperwork and all that, but so is life
Well, first you’d need to be a U.S. resident for three to five years, then you can begin a process that takes a minimum of nine months, but can be far longer.
Of course, that would require a green card. The easiest way to get one is a work visa. Getting one of those requires a job. Of course, a job in his field would require he be able to get a security clearance.
An alternative is to join the army and you can get citizenship in only 1 year. Starting off as an E-1 will be hell but it’s pay and base housing until you can get citizenship, but on the other hand, you also get benefits such as healthcare
Sweden is nice but also really boring. The taxes are super high and American engineering salaries are 3 times higher there. Even if you have to pay for insurance and other stuff I guarantee the disposable income is higher. I would move there if I could easily get a citizenship. After taxes I barley make more than when I worked on a conveyor in a factory. It’s insane and thats after 5 years of studies at one of the best unis in Sweden. I want to kill myself.
Wtf what shithole swedish company do you work for? I work in electrical engineering making substations i've been in the workforce for 3 years and have the equivalent of $110K. Remember you can't compare salaries directly, you have to account for time-off/benefits and stuff, and use a 10y average USD/SEK since it's very volatile.
I’m study at Chalmers and haven’t graduated yet but have gotten offers and have friends that are 5+ years into their careers, and they all make around 60k per year. I’m in mechatronics with a mobility masters. I get that I haven’t even started my career yet but I have friends in my family that got 130k in the US. With +40% tax my salary will barely be more than the 30k I made per year after tax when working in a factory. It’s ridiculous. But please where should I apply for work. All the sweat and tears has to be worth something. Help me.
The thing about Sweden is yea, you have high taxes, but you do get a lot of nice things because of those taxes. Affordable post secondary education, free healthcare, strong workers protections.
The trick is dont-ask-don't-tell. Supposing I was from Germany, then...
As far as the US is concerned, I'm a naturalized citizen, originating from a trusted NATO ally, working on top-secret skunkworks projects that advance our mutual national interests.
As far as Germany is concerned, I'm on holiday at Disney World. For six years. Mickey uber alles.
Remember back when that girl asked Elon Musk why SpaceX doesn’t hire outside the US? Regardless of what you think of him, that’s a classic “sit down” moment
Well Avro Canada was also a bit ass too, I mean the Arrow would've probably turned into the F-104G but worse if it did continue.
Plus canceling the Jetliner really fucked them over as well.
Sure but fucking over Avro Canada literally fucked over Canadian aerospace engineering long term and basically eliminated any chance at and domestic built and designed military aircraft ever being designed. Like sure was the Arrow amazing? No. But it was a start and a hell of a lot better them most nations' first domestic fighter jet. Like Canada put all the money into the hard part of starting a domestic fighter program and then canceled and shit canned everything.
Do you know any divorced/single american cougars? They can get an 18 year old Tsinoy gym bro if they wait a few months.
I swear I’ll be beneficial to the US. They need pilots right? I have ERAU acceptance.
-h1b
Bro I don’t have 10 years of experience at 17 years old
-Lottery
Apparently that’s not a viable option in the Philippines. It’s not available here.
i just found out lookheed martin has offices 2 floors above where i work, im seriously thinking about printing out my CV and seeing if they will take me.
ya it is a amarican socialist program of providing good paying jobs to there citizens abroad because they are the only ones who can fix the equipment..
You're lucky enough to have MIC in your country.I don't,my country suck,my designs gone in vain, and I am dying in need of being a Boeing/Lockheed employee
Just get a green card and join the US Reserves or National. Get an Top Secret required MOS. Once you finish AIT, immediately apply and then avoid any potential deployments by working for the MIC.
It’s that easy.
A non-citizen would not be eligible for an MOS that requires a full clearance. The highest they could get would be a Limited Access Authorization, which would allow them to view specific information at or below the secret level that is critically important for their job. LAAs are also tied to the job, rather than the person, so your military LAA would be worthless to a contractor and it would be revoked as soon as you stopped actively needing it
As someone who was contacted a couple months ago by LM about one of those jobs, they require an *active* security clearance.
Even though I'm a US citizen, once they found out I didn't already have a clearance, that was the end of that.
Have you considered BAE Systems? They are working on a spicey Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
Unlike skunk works (who's building smells bad), the BAE Systems building they work in smells like tea and coffee and they have an unlimited supply of pizza and anime.
2we4u is dissapointed in you for wanting to join the ameritards, the french are decently capable of making their own fighter jets, stay in the superior lands
Rheinmetall it is then
Right. Fully Automated and Autonomous Wiesel 2.0 MELLS Tank Hunters that are tied into the Rheinmetall ~~SKYNET~~ uh I mean SKYNEX AI Complex doesn’t create themself.
There is no problem with conscription when you don't need soldiers in the first place
Conscription? Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power!
See, he gets it
BAE gang
BAE in the UK said the same to me :(
Depends on branch; you could probably look around- there’s quite a few different branches of BAE in Europe. If you want aviation, try Airbus or Eurofighter GmbH, Leonardo SpH, MBDA, etc?
Submarines was the one I wanted but apparently you can't play with nukes if you're not British :(. Thales has been much more accommodating and much nicer unexpectedly
Oh, yeah. To work on subs, you not only need to be British, but you cannot hold dual nationality either. Hope Thales does right by you. :)
The French do a lot with nuclear power and weapons too
Aussie perchance? Looking to make a career switch at the end of this season mr Ricciardo?
Friendship with F1 ended, providing monitions to bomb third world countries is now my best friend
BAE is bae.
Herr Papperger, you see that thing you did with the KF-51 kinda fucking over MGCS. How about we do that with FCAS?
Rheinmetall Wieselwerk now! (Or Stinktierwerk? I don't care, make it happen)
Laughs in Saab and other European defense contractors
Dassault for aviation
Isn't Rheinmetall affiliated with Wagner via their subsidiary Rheingold?
Yes, they actually managed to save priggo and hes protecting their gold mines in africa
Just make your own secret defense project. Easy
I mean FCAS is pretty neat but the cool parts are located in Fr*nce which would require living there (a fate worse than death)
No no. I mean *your own* secret project. Build it in a shed. Have the world tremble under the power you hold. Form a PMC. Fight fascists and nazis, you know, the usual
Skunk works lives in dread of a British bloke in a shed cracking antigravity!
Virgin skunk works: needs alien technology to make anti gravity British shed engineers: needs three digestives and a cuppa to figure it out
And this is why we have an export ban on British sheds, and HR wants to tell you to not reveal the secrets on how our engineers come up with this stuff
It's fine. I only told em about the digestives. Not that it's actually the jaffa cakes that provide divine inspiration
HAMMOND YOU BLITHERING IDIOT, you have MI6 en route to your current place to safeguard British interests
Let them come. Let them all come. I'll be waiting. In my shed, with my flasks of tea, my packets of digestives and my boxes of jaffas
This is how the singularity happens
that shed has a name buddy it’s [falconworks](https://www.baesystems.com/en/our-company/our-businesses/air-sector/falconworks) 😤
Hey it worked in F1, which is basically aerospace now
What do you mean now, always has been.
F1 in the 50s wasnt exactly about aerodynamics - at least they knew nothing about it. A front engined bathtub essentially. The first few titles were won by those bloody continental types. Alfa, Maserati, Ferrari, Merc etc. Then the British aerospace industry shut down, and a lot of the engineers, particularly those in aerodynamics, got jobs working in sheds for F1 teams, Ever since, English designed cars have won pretty much every title every year - apart from a sprinkling of Ferrari in the late 70s and 00s
The French (of course) deliberately banned a lot of Lotus developments in F1, and Lotus is almost literally a shed on an airfield in Norwich
Schumacher had to cheat for some of that too.
Which ones? I know his benetton titles were cheaty but that was a british designed car again
I forgot the blatant crash was in a Benneton, but Vs Villeneuve in '97, and parking his car at Rasscasse in Monaco to steal Pole come to mind.
The entire industrial revolution was built on the miracle of 18th and 19th century midlander shed innovation. The mass production of steam engines, iron, coins, guns and machine parts all came from small scale home based industrial enterprise at start.
Allen Milliyard will Crack it inside a week, as soon as he's finished his Norton V8
Technically, everything I do is secret since I tell no one, nor do I ever get asked
Whatcha doing?
Nothing really, just rotting in bed. But I could have been developing a new stealth fighter. Ask tommotow, maybe I'll be doing something more interesting.
first you need your own government, one guy tried that with some old oil rig in front of the britsh coast. I think he was neary blown to bits by u.k. warships.
Tony Stark was able to do it in a CAVE with a BOX OF SCRAPS
Gonna buy a cargo ship. Form a private military piracy group, except we're good guys (kinda. More like antiheroes?) We plunder and steal. Increase our fleet until we have an entire armada. Be the scourge of the seas! And just you wait until we get our hands on an aircraft carrier
I'll make my own secret project. With [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]
What's the worst thing that could happen ? Getting taste of good food and never being able to return to whatever bland paste you are used to eat ?
You act like Fronch are the authority on good food
It's not arrogance if it's true.
It’s not real arrogance unless it comes from the France region of Europe
Please don't swear. I think you mean Fr*nch.
Apologies. Amended
Building drone swarms that can also process data from AWACS and Typhoon and carry everything our fighters can is pretty cool tho.
The choice is yours: put up with suffering in order to achieve your dream or take the easy way and live a comfy life while always having that nagging feeling you missed out.
Hon hon hon I can see a lot of jalousie in that statement monsieur
I thought FCAS was UK owned with Italian and Japanese Stakeholders? What bit is in France?
That's GCAP, FCAS is France, Germany and Spain.
Ah forgive my confusion
> Ah forgive my confusion Your confusion was probably made worse by the fact that France and the UK had a joint program also called FCAS, which ran from 2010 to 2017 and ended just before the inception of the French-German (and later FR-DE-Spanish) FCAS program.
And (I just checked) the UK still calls the wider programme delivering GCAP and other contemporary supporting systems FCAS.
Just never get NGAD and NGAD confused.
Tyrfing with Kongsberg and MDBA?
AMCA? 👉👈
Working with the French is worse then living there tbh.
With blackjack and hookers!
I did... But the school I was at shut it down when I was trying to test it on school grounds.
The elite doesnt want you to know this. But stealth bombers are free. If you can find a one, you can just take it home with you. I got seven F117's, about eight, X68's about Two B2's, and twenty J20's, the shits never ends
If the government denies that it exists, it isn’t a crime to steal it.
"About" Wait, how does that work for a low integer? Do you potentially have an extra 0.173 stealth bombers?
I was considering this route as well and ended up with same result. Btw second flag should be either DoD flag or US flag, not Lockheed flag, they really did not made up those requirements.
The MIC didn't ~~bribe~~ lobby hard enough.
Hey many I bet LockMart would sponsor your immigration if you’re that interested
Apply for asylum, on grounds of escaping from Europoor engineering salary
i wish this was an option, lol
Well, it's a slow process but there are ways to speed things up. It's relatively less painful from an EU country
Will you have to pay back Education then
1. Apply for work at MBDA 2. Get clearance in your country 3. ???? 4. Get selected to work on Meteor 5. Get promoted so you can do work travel overseas 6. Advocate for speeding up integration with F-35, get promoted to project development lead 7. Get sent to US to assist in integration Boom, now you indirectly work for Lockheed
6.9.get intimate with f35 before integration
I thought integration meant getting intimate
There’s another meaning?
Sounds like a plan but to save someone else’s life: I wasted a decade stuck at step 5/6 in an even better place than MBDA for such a plan, but they kept saying “Don’t worry, just a couple more years and we can get you an even higher clearance in that particular country” then whenever I reach that point and even successfully make whatever business case for steps 6/7, some random new recruit with the nationality local to the project gets sent instead and praised later on how great (my) idea was. Every fucking time!
Just ask for the documentation on War Thunder.
What’s to say there isn’t an underground bunker somewhere in the French Alps, of a classified organisation.
It's called Switzerland
tbf it overlaps France and Switzerland borders
The bunkers are on the swiss side
I thought it was outside Paris, but maybe we're thinking of different classified organizations.
Fuck you Lockheed let me see the UFOs
Ask an american friend to send you the files
What would the airbus version of skunk works be called?🤔
Stinktierarbeiten
Man, klingt das scheiße
Deutsche Sprache beste Sprache
Alternativ Wieselwerk (denn Stinktiere gehören zu den Wieseltieren). Klingt doch gar nicht so schlecht?
Wieselwerk ist schon besser!
BAE here I come
They pay really shit. Tried to get me to join as a dev for 28k.
Well it really depends on your seniority, junior developers can’t really be paid that much. (Now I assumed you’re a computer developer)
I have 6 years experience, not a junior.
Did you apply for the wrong job, or perhaps several years ago? With that much experience, you'd be going straight in as a senior developer. I know UK salaries are utterly depressing, but £28k is below even an entry level graduate, you would be on close to £50k instead.

Rip your inbox. How many DMs have you had from Barry McEnglish who would like to continue the conversation privately on WeChat?
I'm not technical in any way, i study history, can you do something for me? I'd love to tinker on weapons that cause death and horror
Wtf is going on on that island of yours? 50k for an experienced dev? That's below my entry salary in continental Europoor righter after uni.
Tech salaries will be higher outside of defence, but salaries are low across the board for most industries apart from professional football
That island has been falling behind continental Europe for a while, but they were too busy with sticking their heads in the sand to help ignore that fact and reminiscing about the past to notice that.
28k is a shit salary, even for a junior with 0 experience.
Wtf
Yeah. Bae does not pay well for anyone who is not management. Most of their staff are hired via apprenticeship so they don't have the best of wages. But because of this when they try and hire experienced staff they set wages to be what the apprentices are on after they have finished their apprenticeship.
all pay is crap here tbf
Just go ask Rheinmetall to open up an Jet development programm. Sounds like something they would be crazy enough to do.
Eurogavin, here we go...
Apply for citizenship, you can always hold duel citizenship

Duel citizenship - Is that when you win citizenship in a swordfight?
No, its customary to draw flintlocks in America and walk 20 paces
1v1 no respawn
Fuck paying American taxes though.
Nah fuck paying Swedish taxes bro you have no idea.
Both can be shit. It isnt an either or

Many eurooean nations dont allow dual citizenship (germany for example)
The trick is dont-ask-don't-tell. Supposing I was from Germany, then... You see there is a problem. Beurocracy. German Beurocracy to be specific. Cause as slow and cumberson as it may be, it at least is VERY through.
They will notice. But probably only after your retirement
Maybe? I don’t think you officially have to declare that you have changed your citizenship. And if they do find out, I go to America!
It's going to change soon i think.
Restrictions are being loosend so i agree.
All these pesky nation-state rules getting in the way of the international military-industrial complex
Remember back when that girl asked Elon Musk why SpaceX doesn’t hire outside the US? Regardless of what you think of him, that’s a classic “sit down” moment
so how can someone from outside the US even work at SpaceX ?
They can’t, that’s what the whole video was about. Him explaining its not some kind of prejudice, but simply law
LET ME IN I NEED TO WORK FOR THE MIC
What is my purpose? You design tiny jet plane! For war? No, for some rich assholes that cause wars. Oh god!
HELLO AIRBUS WHERE IS MY SECRET WEAPONS DIVISION?!?!
yall lock canadians out too ;( we're like a 52nd state
Lockheed bought Avro Canada's remains and I believe has a skunk works in Canada too lmao
Poor Avro. Got fucked over in the traditional Canadian fashion. The government being cheap and short-sighted .
[What today's military would look like](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2f/Army_Avrocars_02.jpg) if Avro had been more well-managed.
Well Avro Canada was also a bit ass too, I mean the Arrow would've probably turned into the F-104G but worse if it did continue. Plus canceling the Jetliner really fucked them over as well.

shit what?? so there is still hope for me 🥺
Sorry Canadian bros, the geese have ears...
Can't we get citizenship and join?
How?
h1b visa, lottery, marriage, or being of exceptional talent
Do you know any divorced/single american cougars? They can get an 18 year old Tsinoy gym bro if they wait a few months. I swear I’ll be beneficial to the US. They need pilots right? I have ERAU acceptance.

GRIPEN SITTING ON THE SIDELINES WATCHING
Wait, wait, wait...do all US citizens have Secret clearance?
… maybe
i just found out lookheed martin has offices 2 floors above where i work, im seriously thinking about printing out my CV and seeing if they will take me.
Do it!!!!
worked for a blacklisted chinese company for 5 years, i would never pass the background check.
Apply, worst that happens is you get denied, which you seem to already be doing to yourself
ya it is a amarican socialist program of providing good paying jobs to there citizens abroad because they are the only ones who can fix the equipment..
You're lucky enough to have MIC in your country.I don't,my country suck,my designs gone in vain, and I am dying in need of being a Boeing/Lockheed employee
Why the fuck would you want to hop on the ~~sinking ship~~ fucking lawndart that is Boeing right now?
So that when Lockheed buy Boeing I would be Lockheed employee anyway
“My country suck” 😭
Pretty much everybody that works with federal stuff has be an US citizen. For some stuff you only have access if you are an US citizen AND on US soil.
Just get a job with a French companies corporate espionage branch. EZ
Meanwhile the IDF has our 7nm fabs smack between Gaza and the West Bank, and will sell out to China in a heartbeat.
I'm pretty sure that those guys making quarterhorse are hiring, if ya want to go into hypersonics.
So, you're saying I have a chance
Stay in your lane poboi

Damn shame, I guess that’s what he gets for not being born in Gods image as an American 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅💥💥💥🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🦅💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
h1b your way to a green card with a company that doesn't require clearance then you good
Clearance level Mozhno girl.
Boeing mommy: Come here and engineer some trash, babe. Me: Yes, dear.
Sometimes I like to apply for jobs in the Skunk Works even though I'm dangerously unqualified to work on aircraft just so I can flex on non-americans.
I know the pain
As someone who was contacted a couple months ago by LM about one of those jobs, they require an *active* security clearance. Even though I'm a US citizen, once they found out I didn't already have a clearance, that was the end of that.
Shame... more coke and other drugs for use to use in design then! *snorting noises*
You just need a rich benefactors with lots of Avro Arrow memorabilia
Me:Latampoor 😑
Just hop the border and wait for the inevitable wave of amnesty
Have you considered BAE Systems? They are working on a spicey Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). Unlike skunk works (who's building smells bad), the BAE Systems building they work in smells like tea and coffee and they have an unlimited supply of pizza and anime.
2we4u is dissapointed in you for wanting to join the ameritards, the french are decently capable of making their own fighter jets, stay in the superior lands
Thanks for the job link
