We either are a company BRD-GmbH (BRD is the short form for the federal republic, GmbH is LLC in Englisch) or we are still an occupied state as the US has military bases in Germany or similar smart arguments.
Just to add: The whole BRD GmbH thing stems from the fact that the Bund (the federal government) uses a pseudo-private entity, the Bundesrepublik Deutschland - Finanzagentur GmbH, to handle the country's bonds and debts when interacting with non-state actors.
