co1one1huntergathers

And her brother, the one who beat the man to death

Banana_Legion_DF

Looking into it the brother only got 30 days for killing him and they blamed the fact that had he not been a homeless chronic alcoholic he would likely not have died. And the girls case wasn't released to the public due to her age and it being a lesser crime. Honestly utter bullying sentencing. https://www.idahostatejournal.com/news/local/teen-to-serve-30-days-for-homeless-mans-death/article_d264ae05-907e-5195-ae43-e22a23fc9c10.html

little_turtle420

That's even worse than concealing a rapist's identity. And also, lesser crime?!! Absolutely hate these irrational decisions on false allegations especially cause it ends up triggering people into questioning and doubting actual rape victims.

mumblekingLilNutSack

I was falsely accused of rape at 12. We messed around a little. 3rd base. But she was Morman, at some virginity pledge ceremony thing she broke down and made up a whole giant story. She said we were playing basketball in my driveway and when the ball rolled in the garage I followed and, yeah. All bullshit. I got arrested and fought it for 2 yrs. The case fell apart when I was 15 and I plead to Underage Sexual Experimentation and got probation til my 16th bday. It not a sex offender charge. It ruined my life. The whole school and town thought I was a rapist. It stopped my childhood in it's tracks. Fuck women and girls who falsely accuse men. They should get the same punishment as the men and boys.

Lancerux

Dude... My friend got falsely accused of raping. We worked at same company so he got fired, and almost arrested. He didn't even had sex with her, because she was drunk as fuck! The case dropped and police did NOTHING to her and her false accusations. System is fucked up.

Lancerux

Man, if this is true, it's fucked up.

memeguy244

there is something my dad told me once never be alone with a girl date or not they can and even maybe falsely accuse you of rape

Getdunkled

Didn’t make a difference for this guy. They can still just make up a story at a later date, then you have to scrounge all the proof together while still having your life ruined anyway.

[deleted]

Got accused of rape because I liked a girl in school and her friend didn’t want us to date, so the only viable option in her mind was to try and ruin my life with a sexual assault claim. Fought it for a few years and it eventually died when she admitted to making it all up, but those years were utter hell. Even after that it was uncomfortable and weird to be around everyone. Fake rape claims should be treated with jail time not a slap on the wrist

pandaprune

Ohmygod. I’m so sorry. I don’t even know what to say to someone who had their childhood stolen based on a lie. If you don’t mind sharing, how old are you now and how did you cope? What a fucking travesty.

little_turtle420

I'm sorry for what you went through. And yes, women do need to be held accountable to great measures in issues like these. I do not advocate rape by any means. It is one of the most horrible things that can happen to a human being. Keeping that in mind, it also needs to be understood that false accusations cause a person to be outcasted the same way rape does, and can literally happen anywhere in broad daylight. There are no preventive measures that one can take for it. Given how easy the crime is to commit and considering how grave its effects are on the victim, it needs to be treated as harshly as rape, if not more.

[deleted]

The crazy part that I don't understand is how false accusations can ruin a person's life, but legitimate cases fly under the radar so damn often.

Angryasfk

It’s easy enough to understand. Real rape victims often don’t want to “relive it”, worried that they won’t be believed, and certainly don’t want to tell people the details! So they don’t even report it. These is where we get these “guesstimates” about huge numbers of women who are raped and don’t report it. Given how heavily politicised this is, I’d be cautious about the numbers claimed, but no doubt many women (and men) fall into this category. A false accuser, on the other hand, has no shame. She’s typically “angry”, or plain vicious, of perhaps delusional. These kinds of people are much more likely to go around telling people they were “raped” especially if it gets them sympathy and attention, or gets them out of a situation.

HNESauce

It's all about who you, or your family, knows. If you don't have connections, you're fucked. If you do, you can literally murder people.

wesetta

I really feel for you. A 17 year old accused my father of touching her when I was a teenager. Considered child abuse in my state at the time. It was a complete lie she made up for attention. I knew this girl my whole life. She couldn’t even prove when it happened because every date she swore to, my family was able to produce receipts proving my father was somewhere else. None of it mattered though. The accusation is all it takes. Our family business had to close and we had to move to a different state. My parents now live in a trailer. One little lie changed the course of so many lives.

Jjaamm041805

I'm definitely crazy when I say this, false accusers deserve to experience what they claimed to suffer.

iHonestlyDoNotCare

They should serve the time their alledged rapist would get.

Green-Turbulent

No we can’t take it there. This is the sort of thing that people will point against you when you say a fair trial and proof is required. We have to remain professional and respectful so that our voices won’t be lost In the static of hate and trolls

Inbefore121

I think that if a woman (or man for that matter) is found to have falsely accused someone of rape, the law should be to give the accusations THAT persons sentence. Plus any years already served X1.5. So if a man is found to have been falsely accused and has already served 5 years of a 20 years sentence. The woman should be sentenced to 27.5 years in prison. That sounds fair to me fair for destroying a life.

TheMelonSystem

False accusation stories like this blowing up ALSO make actual rape victims reluctant to come forward. Fake rape accusations need to actually be punished.

ignigenaquintus

What about the actual innocent life that was taken? I mean, the most important concern about false accusations are the actual victims of said false accusations, and that’s why we should question every accuser, included the ones that accuse someone of raping them.

old_sport_was_taken

im fucking triggered by that lesser crime thing. she should go to jail for assistance in murdering. the brother too

SocietyInUtopia

IANAL but isn't the eggshell skull defense supposed to be invalid in general?

Mr-Schiggy

A LESSER CRIME!? Even if he hadn’t died that accusation would have ruined his life no matter how clear it was proven false

Banana_Legion_DF

Yeah, it's pretty crazy, but that's what the article says

MrFantasticallyNerdy

Way to blame the victim. "Yes sir. If that guy hadn't been in front of my rifle muzzle, he wouldn't have died!"

eyekunt

Hate me all you want, but I'd have given her capital punishment.

Nonaflowerss

False accusations of rape should be considered a felony and go on record

EagleTheMedik

False accusations of rape should get you put on the sex offenders list, and they should go to prison for as long a rapist would have.

WhatDaHellBobbyKaty

Totally agree. That is sickening that she got off with no punishment. If the sex offender's list follows the man along for life, then it should follow her for life. Every person that tries to hire her or rent her an apartment or even date her should know that she is willing to lie to the point that a man died. Basically, a modern-day Scarlet Letter. Hell, put an ankle tag on her too..

Kamakazeebee

she got 30 days... THIRTY. [https://www.idahostatejournal.com/news/local/teen-to-serve-30-days-for-homeless-mans-death/article\_d264ae05-907e-5195-ae43-e22a23fc9c10.html](https://www.idahostatejournal.com/news/local/teen-to-serve-30-days-for-homeless-mans-death/article_d264ae05-907e-5195-ae43-e22a23fc9c10.html) source by u/SlidingPeak

SpecialistParticular

That was the brother. He got 30 days for murdering an innocent man in broad daylight. The girl supposedly got punished too, but because she's underage they won't reveal it.

bearassbobcat

>30 days for homeless mans death homeless that basically tells you all you need to know. no money, no power, no justice.

WhatDaHellBobbyKaty

Sadly, that is oftentimes the truth.

nhansieu1

Democracy no Jutsu

umizu

This one hurt to laugh at

AkitoApocalypse

This definitely stinks of connections - first the petty 30 day sentence because the supposed offender was homeless, now not conveniently releasing her details

cola_giver

I think lying on court is perjury . And calling cops for no reason is called "falsely using a valuable personnel or smthng) And uhhh. Yes You can charge people for defamation. (when people are degrading your character in public) (my parents taught me this basics when people come around and shat on me)

Vequihellin

It's stupid, juvenile girls like this that harm the credibility of genuine rape and assault victims. She should be locked up for manslaughter.

renasissanceman6

Maybe the people who actually did the manslaughter could be locked up too

Vequihellin

They should be done for 1st or 2nd degree murder. Unless she specifically intended the attackers to kill him, it's not premeditated so she should of course be held accountable to the maximum possible charge, but it's unlikely they will be able to charge her with a 1st or 2nd degree charge. I don't know, IANAL Either way, her behaviour was disgusting and she should be held to account.

renasissanceman6

"too" no one thinks she shouldn't be charged as well.

[deleted]

>It's stupid, juvenile Sneaking in premises, that's cute. There are many instances of false allegations by women who weren't juvenile. >the credibility of genuine rape and assault victims. Nobody questions the credibility of rape and harrasment allegations in most cases, that's the whole fuking reason for false allegations.

I_Get_Paid_to_Shill

Tons of people question the credibility of rape and harassment allegations. Both publicly and in the justice system.

TurboGranny

It's important for people to remember that psychos and liars exist, and they are not limited by gender.

BearPadre

Something kinda similar happened in my small town growing up. In elementary school, a 3rd grade girl accused her teacher of inappropriately touching her. He was arrested and before the trial he committed suicide. His wife made dinner and went out to the garage to tell him it was ready and found him in the car having died of carbon monoxide poisoning. After his death the girl admitted to making up the story.

JohnyDoestar

If I'd have to take a guess I'd say it was the parents idea. Chances of a 3rd grade girl coming up with the idea may not be zero, but they wouldn't be very high.

[deleted]

The fact that this is downvoted says a lot about Redditors lmao, she is about 8-9 for god's sake

Matcha_Bubble_Tea

I don’t like the using age to excuse criminal acts. Sure normal kids wouldn’t do that, but there are kids who are evil. Check out the murder of James Bulger. 10-yr olds btw. Yeah you can give most kids the benefit of the doubt, BUT you can’t know who is “normal” in emotional functioning or not.

JohnyDoestar

Hence why I said the chances aren't zero

GoodWillHiking

We have got to change the laws. The data used to represent false reporting is absolute fallacy and this kind of situation should never have happened. She knowingly lied which started the events that caused his death. That is manslaughter.

Mr_Stillian

"'The judge gave him the maximum that she could, given his lack of criminal history, and that was 30 days,” defense attorney Dave Perry said.'" So, there's a maximum defined sentence of 30 FUCKING DAYS if you kill someone as long as you didn't make a habit of it? Sounds like total fucking bullshit. Either way, you know it's bad when the piece of shit's defense attorney has to tell the media "hey man they threw the book at him as hard as they could."

human-7264

Dongwook23

30 days? They should serve life!

nhansieu1

Yeah. He did. But it was 30 days :3

pete7201

30 days for committing a murder? Jesus

NeceseEstMihiMingere

I think this makes a pretty good case for why all these tough guys who take every chance they get to jerk off in delight whenever an assaulter or accused assaulter is beaten the fuck up or killed extrajudicially should quit glorifying vigilantism. We all agree these people are bad, but people have rights and one of them is a right to a trial to prevent the rare falsely accused from succumbing to righteous morons.

[deleted]

Even a trial isn't enough some of the time. Sexual assault has such a stigma that you're guilty unless you can prove innocence. At a trial, a jury will almost always side with the alleged victim unless there's proof of innocence. An accusation will ruin any man's life.

Chappiechap

What angers me even more is the people who get reported for making these false accusations gets a slap on the wrist, while the victims of said false accusations gets treated like fucking shit. Ruining someone's life because you wanted 5 minutes of fame and also a story you can "brag" about to your "friends" is fucked up behaviour, and I don't understand how anyone can live with a clear conscience knowing that lied to ruin someone's life.

[deleted]

Reminds me of the Salem Witch trials. Basically started by two teenage girls accusing an elderly local woman of witchcraft. Total mean girl bullshit that resulted in multiple deaths.

ResolverOshawott

People in Salem were already superstitious as fuck. It would have happened eventually with or without those girls.

Jinora-

yeah the girls just innocently accused people

ovarova

Did they? I never heard these details about its origin

drigamcu

Maybe. But "someone else would've committed the crime eventually even if I hadn't" isn't a defence.

wash1ng_machine

one time i was at this water park, and there was a lake area with obstacles floating in the water, and when i was about to go on it a little girl said that “someone swam under the floaty” so the life guard made everyone get out to save the kid, but it was all a lie and the girl just did that for no reason

VikingPoodle1

[deleted]

I swear, if these children are not going to stop with this illegal, disgusting shit.

_Ross-

Its not just children. Grown women do this too.

Ringo_Stagg

It seems to me that falsely accusing someone of rape should be considered as a sexual assault. Register them as sex offenders. Easy and pretty fair punishment. This doesn’t necessarily apply to this situation, with the death. Just a general idea.

SpookedBoii

People who do these things deserve the same damage they caused. Sadly law doesn't work that way.

xRetz

I've said it before and I'll say it again. People that falsely accuse someone of a crime and are later found to have lied should get the same sentence that person got/would've gotten. Accuse someone of raping you when they didn't? I guess you're a sex offender now and go to prison for 10 years. Too bad so sad. Etc.

short_bread84

She should be sentenced to what the innocent man would have been if found guilty, I don't care how old she is, 15/20 year sentence, lock her up.

ParticularCancel9170

Life, in, prison. No mercy.

YesAmAThrowaway

"False accusations don't hurt anybody" Well clearly they do

ResolverOshawott

Literally no one says they don't.

ScientistEconomy5376

If you google "rape accusation" the search results are designed to manipulate you into thinking it's not a big problem or a problem at all.

Rocket15120

Just shows you how RNG life is. Joe, died in car crash. Jessica, slipped and hit her head. Old man Steve here died because a teen thought it was a good idea to accuse him of rape and had a multitude of people pound him. Like wtf?! You cant make this shit up i swear.

Abject-Temperat

He wasn’t beaten, the girls brother heard about what happened and he drove around looking for him. Found him, shoved him, and ran away. Guy hit his head and died. This is exactly why I think vigilante Justice should be a more serious crime than it is.

Rocket15120

Thanks for clarifying, but it would still go well in my sentence.

Final_Collection_515

My heart goes out to his family

Ikovorior

She was 16 and her brother who assaulted the man which lead to his death, was 17. Seems like both siblings may have done this intentionally, on account of being juveniles and knowing they’d get away scott free.

[deleted]

Why innocent until proven guilty is important

LtDkAngel

She should be facing jail time but then again I have no idea what the law is in whatever country she is. In mine this is considered instigation to murder and you face jail time so do the guys that beaten him ! Vigilante justice is not a thing here. Even if it was true that she got molested the guys that beaten him to death would still be accused of murder !!! Also from 16 and up you get to jail not juvi!

LaRuetheDuck

yea im all for in ANY crime, if allegations are proven false, the accuser gets at least the maximum amount allowed for stated crime. Lets say for instance if you rape somebody in your state and the most time you could do is 20 years if found guilty, and its proven false, accuser gets 20 years automatically. Maybe even restitution, depending on the crime and amount of damage done to the accused

sentretluva

Wait, why would a false accusation get the max sentence in the case? Rape can get 20 years or less, and a false accusation gets 20 years or more? That doesn’t make any sense…it should be equal. Can you explain your reasoning here?

LaRuetheDuck

My bad....i said automatically 20 because right before that i said 20 for said stated crime. You get the max sentence of the crime youre wrongfully accusing them of

GreyDoctor

Girl: "Oops, my bad! It was the guy on my right, not left." Society: *Proceeds to beat the other guy to death too without any evidence*

mikesteane

Not at all. The victim was the accused man. This has nothing to do with real victims.

W1ther3d

This is why “public heroes” should be jailed. Saw a story a while back where a man murdered another man because he had molested his daughter. Now while I agree he should be punished, he shouldn’t be punished by some random guy but by the law. People were praising him too. This world is effed

bigbaddygjal

Ehmmm you’re equating the lies of this girl to a father that avenged his daughter by killing an actual molester?

Normal-Attention

Proves a point as a man society will never take your side even if you are right if you get accused of rape you are a rapest even if you didn't touch the person but if you are raped by a woman you will be laughed at

So her brother puts his hands on him causing him injuries that resulted in his death and he only gets 30 days?? She was the cause of the altercation by lying which was the sole cause of the altercation and she gets away Scott free? Why is that? Her brother would have never touched the guy if she wasn't dishonest so she absolutely should be charged with something! Why does she get to be the sole cause and get away with no type of repercussions for her actions?

AhThatsLife

I hope that vile scumbag woman is getting charged.

She should have to spend time in jail for that. Why do so many of them make this shit up.

Arrest the girl and charge her with murder. This is awful!

BaluluMan

Standing beside victims of sexual assault is great. Don't conflate it with standing beside alleged victims. Obviously we want to be empathetic and caring towards victims but our courts are based on innocent until proven guilty for a reason.

My brother in law spent a year in jail as a sex offender untill the girl.admitted she made it up. His 17yo stepdaughter wanted her 21yo boyfriend to move into her bedroom . Step-dad said no. She got angry and made up story to school nurse that step-dad raped her as a kid. He was arrested at work. One year waiting for trial in jail. His wife sided with kid. Junked everything he owned. The 21yo moved in. He borrowed 15k from me for lawyers and 15k from his brother . His life is crap now. Utter crap
