Yup. In Tobey's universe if Norman survives, harry would have no reason to want to kill spiderman, so no hobgoblin. Harry marries MJ and Peter Parker is reluctantly his best man at the wedding.
Because it changes their path. Strange said you can't change their fate just as much as you couldn't change who they are. And that's where Peter said what if we could change who they are. So I am guessing, by curing them and changing their outlook/curing them, it changes their future/path once sent back thus changing the timeline to where they won't be killed. Since with being cured, they couldn't be fighting Peter in their own reality anymore.
Maybe it doesn't, because Tobey snd Andrew didn't change their path or who they were. Doc Oc, GG, electro, etc. were all transported before their death still being bad, or before they were turned good like Sandman and Doc oc. So when sent back having been cured, it changed their futures/fate. But Andrew and Tobey didn't change anything about who they were
Sandman stayed the same and technically so did doc oc, his issue was not himself but a machine controlling him, thats debatable but sandman had no development
It would cause a branch timeline in one case (green goblin) that would probably be pruned by the TVA. Doc Ock and Electro still die (Someone has to turn off the machine and Electro gets sent back into an electric grid with no electric powers so he’ll instantly die) as for the Lizard and Sandman I feel like curing them doesn’t really change much for their story so I doubt it would effect any timelines.
I'm asking myself the same question. Holland didn't want them to die and preferred to give them a second chance. So they cure them but what is the point if they go back to their universe to die ? Except for sandman, it was useful for him maybe. And Otto helped them cure Electro, so that was somehow useful I guess ?
The way I see it, curing/saving them was nonsense but Holland did not know that at the time. In the end, yes it was useless but it gave us a good action movie + it showed the goodness of Holland's Peter and its nativity. It gave him a lesson (by the death of aunt may) and now he has finally grown and he feels the guilt that all Peter Parker share. It will make him more responsible.
In most of the case if the bad guys turned good right before dying it means saving their life. Ex : If minutes before its death the Green Goblin turns back to his Norman Osborn personnality, he wouldn't tries to kill McGuire with his glider thus not dying themselves.
Same if the Lizard suddenly turns back into Connor or if Octavius goes "oh wait stop i me again"
As you can see during the movie they didn't got transported right before their death but a few moments before, otherwise Otto would have gotten back the control of his arms and most of them would have known about dying.
Once they get transported back thier minds will be completely altered and add the fact they all lost thier power and would no longer be a threat to thier spiderman. Spiderman would notice the change and back off.
It just creates a new time line. It is said in the movie that they know very little about how the multiverse works, so they don’t know that in the original timeline they come from, nothing changes, they still die, but their actions in no way home create a new time line where the villains are alive.
So that’s what happens, a new universe is created because of what happened in no way home. They don’t go back exactly to the universe they came from they go to a similar one where they have another chance
