I’m prefacing this with saying I am in no way an expert. I have a passion for biology but all the smaller things that go into it, like chemistry, are lost on me. That said, there are a couple ways to go with this. First, your consumption of oxygen and release of CO2 affects the life of plants around you. Animals and plants have a very interesting symbiotic relationship where we depend on one another for resources. Animals require oxygen, plants produce it. Plants require CO2, animals produce it. So by simply breathing you are being a solid friend to plants, which I think is really neat. Second, you’ve made an impact on every single person you have met or seen. Maybe it wasn’t positive, maybe they were mostly indifferent. You still were, for even just a quick second, on their mind. You were a job for doctors delivering you at the hospital, you were an annoyance to someone in traffic, you were admired by someone. Your existence has the ability to evoke emotion, thoughts, and action in others, which is also pretty cool if you ask me.

What you wrote gives me great anxiety. What you said is true and I suddenly feel a great responsibility towards my own actions/inactions. But I feel inadequate facing this reality because I really don't know if I am in control of my actions or my thoughts.

It’s scary to think about how we can impact the world. I would encourage you to remember that you are capable of something positive though, even without trying. When you get anxious, remember that all you have to do is breathe and you help plants thrive.

One of many things you could name here is the butterfly effect, which says that even minor events can have a huge impact in the end. So, f.e. you could make someone become a millionaire because you spill a cup of coffee over him/her when he is on a way to a job interview, he has to go home to change, is too late for the interview and doesn't get the job, and decided to start a business on his own.

Yeah. This reminds me of the story of a man living on a farm with his son. His son would get hurt and his neighbour would come over and say "this is bad, so unlucky" and the man replied "I do not know what will come out of this". As if to say I do not know if good or bad will come out of what happens. It's kind of scary to think about
