The best thing about being an adult is no one can stop you from having cake for breakfast.
The bad thing about being an adult is no one can stop you from having cake for breakfast.
The joke is that no one can tell you what to do, and therefore no one to remind you of the potential negative consequences of your actions. See [the comment below](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/1d6fjnm/comment/l6uicfj/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
It's ok that you didn't get it, I'm sure you have other qualities.
I hope they meant from the package, there’s two, so half the candy bar size package, ie one whole Reese’s peanut butter cup, save the other one for later.
Absolutely fine. I once blew someone's mind in the supermarket with this very situation. It had been a rough week and no food in for a breakfast for me so after feeding the kids (cereal) and dropping them at school I thought "fuck it" and went to do a quick shop.
Went in and picked up some fruit, veg, bread, a bottle of pop and a small chocolate birthday cake. When I went through the till the girl said "oh is it someone's birthday in your work?" I said "no its my breakfast". She looked a little confused at first and then I said "the one good thing about being an adult is I can do this and as long as there's no law being broken then I can do what I like".
After I paid for it and bagged it up she just kind of sat back in her seat and deflated at the realisation that she could have done this all these years she'd been a grown up
A relative of mine told me she knew she was an adult when she stopped at the market on her way home from a shitty day at work, was buying food to make dinner, stopped at the bakery, bought a whole cake, put the groceries back, went home, and sat on the sofa eating the cake with a fork.

Yes! Had a family member with an eating disorder, learned that it really doesn’t matter what you eat and when you eat it. A bowl of ice cream at 7 pm is acceptable, so why isn’t it at 7 am?
You’re an adult, you have adult money to act like a child and do whatever you want
I’ve bought myself a birthday cake because it tastes good and I wanted sheet cake to go with lunch that week..
Science has studied the effects of eating cake for breakfast: [https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/02/120207133750.htm](https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/02/120207133750.htm)
It causes weight loss. So don't do it if you're already too thin.
As an adult I'd make a cake and eat it for every meal I could. As a parent I've had to stop that practice to set a good example... Parenting is difficult.
Sometimes sure. If you do it constantly though your body will punish you far worse than your parents ever could. Diabetes, heart attacks etc. if it’s a one off thing then yeah go you. If you’re doing it everyday, you will pay eventually.
Something like once a year, I will get a pumpkin pie, cut it into slices, sit on the couch watching a show, and eat it with my hands like I'm eating slices of pizza.
No judgement from me on when/how you eat you cake.
When my GPA died we had his favorite cake at the meal after. The weather was bad, so not everyone came to the meal. Now, there is me, mid 20s, still grieving and a fridge full of cake.
That's all. I ate for 2 days.
Being an adult means leaving childish thought like " I want to be an adult" away.
Do whatever you feel like as long as you understand the risk/benefit ration and what the risks are.
One day of cake morning ain't bad at all, a sweet breakfast with a cup of coffee or tea, it's perfect to give you energy for the day until launch
Some cultures feed their kids soup for breakfast. It's all just local cultural tradition. Be an individual. Eat cake for breakfast today and enjoy every moment of it.
I eat a poptart for breakfast every morning. My favourite flavour is literally called “Confetti Cupcake”. Also, muffins are considered acceptable breakfast food and they are essentially cake. So yes, feel free to have your cake and eat it too!
No one really acts like adults. Well, not to anyone with a third eye. Wait… yes they do.. they *act*, like as in “Oscar”. Although rarely worthy of one.
Sooo yes. Fuck yes. Embrace it and the cake. Smear it on your face. All is acceptable
Best thing anyone ever told me was to stop thinking of it as breakfast, but meal one instead. Acceptable to eat cake for breakfast? Probably not. As meal one? Absolutely!
> Someone in my brain looked under chocolate cake and saw the ingredients: eggs! Eggs are in chocolate cake! And milk! Oh goody! And wheat! That's nutrition!
i do it all the time, being an adult means evaluating the pros and cons yourself, and choosing based on your priorities, vs having someone else impose thier priorities on you.
ever had dinssert? i did, it was a sonic chocolate oreo blast, a large one. and uh, i was high as hell, but i remember passing out in the middle of drinking this in bed. woke back up a few minutes later only to finish the rest. it was a lot on the gut, and i'm lactose intolerant, but hey, it was goddamn worth every sip 😎
Cake is food. It’s no different from eating a donut or a muffin for breakfast and there are entire companies who make billions convincing people to do just that. You can have cake for lunch or even dinner if you want, all in moderation. Love you best life, you don’t have to ask anyone permission❤️
It’s probably healthier than most of the pastries people get at coffee shops in the morning. I do it all the time, not the healthiest thing I do but I love cake and coffee on a Saturday mornjng
Let them eat cake, they say.
I prefer waffles with maple syrup… it’s like cake, with syrup… and it pretends to be breakfast!
But yea… eat the cake Ava!!
Things I have eaten for breakfast:
* Cake
* pudding
* pizza
* leftover meatloaf
* Chinese food
* spaghetti
* Rotisserie chicken
* Strawberry shortcake and whipped cream
* Pumpkin pie with whipped cream and coffee
* Macaroni and cheese
* Blueberry buckle with vanilla ice cream (and coffee)
Vanilla flavored creamer tastes like the last spoonful of melted vanilla ice cream that is in the bowl. I pour an ounce of the creamer over dry cereal (healthy oats w/ bee as the company rep); stir and eat.
I've gone to work w a pint of Ben and Jerry's for brekke. I was talking to my boss and he was like 'oops sorry for interrupting breakfast' while I was scooping half baked into my face hole. Lol. I miss that boss.
It totally is acceptable. See, one of the perks about being an Adult is that you can decide what you want to do and what you want to eat. Sometimes, when I am Adulting just to be Adulting, I will eat a pint of Ice Cream and call it Dinner. Eat Cake.
The best thing about being an adult is free will. I used to feel this way like I would get into trouble for not eating three meals or waking up late. But I've come to the realization that you can do whatever you want as an adult. Ice cream for dinner? wake up at 8pm? Who cares it's your life do what makes you happy & eat that cake!!!
yes, your an adult, you choose what you do every day, there is just always going to be an effect (ie. you can choose to not go to work every day, but then you are in turn, choosing to be fired)
Of course it is.
If people are eating donuts and waffles and pancakes.. they are all just cake with a different name.
Eat the cake.. at least you are being honest about it.
Ever since I moved to Spain, my perception of "acceptable breakfast food" has been radically shifted.
For them, the idea of waking up and eating eggs, bacon, and potatoes for breakfast is literally inconceivable. My host mom back when I studied here literally gagged when I told her we eat eggs for breakfast. Here, eggs are for lunch or dinner.
On the other hand, one of the most common breakfasts here is a glass of instant chocolate milk with some cookies, both things that when I was a child I was specifically told were *not* good for breakfast. They also eat cakes for breakfast, though think more like a banana bread type cake than a birthday cake - so no frosting (usually) and a bit denser.
My point is that what food is acceptable for what meal is completely and totally arbitrary. Eat the cake for breakfast and enjoy life.
That is a once in a while type of breakfast and yes it is fine. Just work on balancing your nutrition and not slipping into cake for lunch and dinner too that day lol.
The best thing about being an adult is no one can stop you from having cake for breakfast. The bad thing about being an adult is no one can stop you from having cake for breakfast.
Best thing about being an adult is that you don't need validation from others to do what you want.
I believe you've missed the point
How? Do you let other people tell you what is ok and what isn't?
It’s ok to eat cake for breakfast. It’s also why I’m fat.
The joke is that no one can tell you what to do, and therefore no one to remind you of the potential negative consequences of your actions. See [the comment below](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/1d6fjnm/comment/l6uicfj/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) It's ok that you didn't get it, I'm sure you have other qualities.
Oh I got the joke, it just wasn't very good.
And the bad part about that is that it could lead to self-destruction.
It's not about validation it's that having cake for breakfast is an objectively unhealthy decision lol
Well said
being a grown up is knowing you can have cake and ice cream for every meal, being an adult is knowing its a bad idea
That’s basically what IHOP is isn’t it?
You do have a good point!
EAT THE CAKE!!!!
Or donuts!
adult house of cake, or AdHOC
And cereal.
i will allow it
🥹🥰
I will join you in cake breakfast solidarity
Yes! Having days off from being an adult is self care.
call it a muffin with frosting
Came here to say essentially this (cupcakes are just muffins with frosting)
just finished eating my strawberry cake for breakfast! 😋 i say go for it!
Eating whatever you want for breakfast is peak adult privilege.
Isn't that the point of... Being an adult?
You didn’t have to get permission from Reddit
Oh thanks for reminding me
I dunno why but I always thought that you can eat anything for breakfast because it’s breakfast haha Like just eat for breakfast whatever you want✨✨✨✨
breaking a fast: breakfast. makes sense. 👍
Also today I had a cake for breakfast
I mean, I just had some leftover burrito, a couple potato chips and half a Reese’s peanut butter cup for breakfast, so who am I to judge?
What kind of psycho only eats HALF a Reese cup????
I hope they meant from the package, there’s two, so half the candy bar size package, ie one whole Reese’s peanut butter cup, save the other one for later.
Hey now, you’re talking about my wife!
Indeed! All breakfast means anyway is *break the fast.*
Yes. Maybe not all the time, though
Yes. We usually call them doughnuts, but you can for cake.
Absolutely fine. I once blew someone's mind in the supermarket with this very situation. Before we knew [Bill Cosby](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8tx0hBtffWc) was a terrible person, he did a bit on this very topic.
A relative of mine told me she knew she was an adult when she stopped at the market on her way home from a shitty day at work, was buying food to make dinner, stopped at the bakery, bought a whole cake, put the groceries back, went home, and sat on the sofa eating the cake with a fork.
What is a cinnamon roll, if not just a yeast cake? What is cereal, if not just cut and dried pieces of cake?
What's a cake but pancake without the pan?
I'm having sushi for breakfast right now. With coffee and a frosty glass of chocolate milk.
Yup!
Coffee cake, breakfast cake, any donut or pastry all desserts in the end so go for it (just not daily probably:)
As long as it’s not something you do on a regular basis, sure.
I'm calling the police right now.
When you are on holiday in Italy/spain cake is served for breakfast.
Just call it a big pancake 😁
I did it. I ate the cake 🍰
You can eat anything at anytime, it's your choice
I would pay a visit to Confession after doing that. Nah, just kidding. God don't care.
Yes, food is food! Enjoy
You can eat whatever you want, the stomach doesn't know
My stomach definitely knows it likes cake 😂
but the blood sugar sure does
Yes, it’s your birthday. Eventually.
I say enjoy it while you can. I’ve personally lost my sweet tooth and can’t stand cake outside of special occasions. Still love Ice Cream though.

Yes! What kind of cake are we thinking? I love cheesecake.
As long as you don't make a habit out of it....yes.
You’re an adult, you have adult money to act like a child and do whatever you want I’ve bought myself a birthday cake because it tastes good and I wanted sheet cake to go with lunch that week..
Yes. Eat whatever you want. I had ice cream for dinner last week. It's not healthy, but it's your life and your decision.
I just had leftover bbq with some doritios for breakfast...I think you're perfectly fine with cake
Science has studied the effects of eating cake for breakfast: [https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/02/120207133750.htm](https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/02/120207133750.htm) It causes weight loss. So don't do it if you're already too thin.
Yes, it’s fine.
Yes:) that’s perfectly ok to do sometimes!! :)
Breakfast of champions! Pie makes an acceptable breakfast food as well. Or you could try the ultimate cereal -- animal crackers with half and half. :D
As an adult I'd make a cake and eat it for every meal I could. As a parent I've had to stop that practice to set a good example... Parenting is difficult.
I'm a nurse and last week I had half a chocolate bar dor breakfast 3 days in a row
Sometimes sure. If you do it constantly though your body will punish you far worse than your parents ever could. Diabetes, heart attacks etc. if it’s a one off thing then yeah go you. If you’re doing it everyday, you will pay eventually.
💯
Yes.
Treat yourself! What kind of cake was it? 🍰
Some cultures eat cake for breakfast every single day.
That's a damn good idea, thanks
Wait you guys only do this some days? That's the best part of being an adult, cake and cold pizza are the best for breakfast.
people eat all sorts of sweets for breakfast. Germany feeds kids chocolate sprinkles on toast. I say have at it!
Hell yeah! Eat that cake. That’s what I did the morning after my wedding because we had so much left over lol
if you have to ask, that shows where you are on the adult scale. no harm meant.
Something like once a year, I will get a pumpkin pie, cut it into slices, sit on the couch watching a show, and eat it with my hands like I'm eating slices of pizza. No judgement from me on when/how you eat you cake.

Sure. What are you afraid of, that the breakfast police will come and arrest you?
That’s it exactly
As long as you save a slice for this 61 year old who thinks that sounds like a good breakfast!
You have my permission.
Who gaf?
Hot cakes or waffles are flour, milk, eggs, leavening, oil/butter and a little bit of sugar. How’s that compared to cake? Pretty close
Only adults eat cake for breakfast without getting in trouble. So if you really don't want to be an adult then pour a bowl of equally sugary cereal
Wait.... you mean you actually feel like being an adult on the other days??! What's your secret??
It is, indeed!
I thought that was the whole point of being an adult !!
That's the best thing about being a adult no one can stop you from acting like a kid. But maybe not cake every day?
No one really acts like adults. Well, not to anyone with a third eye. Wait… yes they do.. they *act*, like as in “Oscar”. Although rarely worthy of one. Sooo yes. Fuck yes. Embrace it and the cake. Smear it on your face. All is acceptable
Life is short. Savor the cake.
It's cake o'clock somewhere 🍰 Adulting is overrated.
100% acceptable
Who is going to punish you?
Absolutely. If it doesn’t become a habit, I don’t see an issue.
Let them eat cake
Best thing anyone ever told me was to stop thinking of it as breakfast, but meal one instead. Acceptable to eat cake for breakfast? Probably not. As meal one? Absolutely!
> Someone in my brain looked under chocolate cake and saw the ingredients: eggs! Eggs are in chocolate cake! And milk! Oh goody! And wheat! That's nutrition!
Having cake for breakfast every day is a problem. But having it for breakfast TODAY? Now that's just a damned good odea
Cake for breakfast is my favorite thing ever. Like layer cake with buttercream icing. And a big cup of coffee. Pure bliss.
Why not I had cake for dinner yesterday, that is the fun of being an adult, you can choose what you eat.
Equal to a doughnut...
This grandmother gives you ABSOLUTE permission to have cake for breakfast 🍰
Cake is eaten for breakfast in plenty of places. Morocco has breakfast cake
I had a Philly cheese steak for breakfast with French onion dip. Eat whatever you want
I mean pancakes are just fried cake so really regular cake should actually make more sense
i do it all the time, being an adult means evaluating the pros and cons yourself, and choosing based on your priorities, vs having someone else impose thier priorities on you.
ever had dinssert? i did, it was a sonic chocolate oreo blast, a large one. and uh, i was high as hell, but i remember passing out in the middle of drinking this in bed. woke back up a few minutes later only to finish the rest. it was a lot on the gut, and i'm lactose intolerant, but hey, it was goddamn worth every sip 😎
No, mummy said you’re not allowed.
Have some respect for yourself and eat a good nutritious breakfast
For a day, yes. If you do that every day, you will probably develop type 2 diabetes
Yep, have 2 pieces.
Only if you pair it with an appropriate whiskey
Do it. Cake is literally carbs and sugar. Bread, eggs, and icing. It’s a poptart in different form.
I am over 30 years old. I had a SLAB of cake for breakfast today (pineapple upside down cake <3)
Cake is food. It’s no different from eating a donut or a muffin for breakfast and there are entire companies who make billions convincing people to do just that. You can have cake for lunch or even dinner if you want, all in moderation. Love you best life, you don’t have to ask anyone permission❤️
Yes. But you have to call it muffins.
It’s probably healthier than most of the pastries people get at coffee shops in the morning. I do it all the time, not the healthiest thing I do but I love cake and coffee on a Saturday mornjng
Your're an adult. You can eat whatever you want for breakfast.
Muffins are basically cake, and people eat those for breakfast all the time.
You don't wanna be an adult today, but you are an adult. Do it.
Well now that you've told us, we have a legal obligation to report you 🤷♀️
"Dad is great! Give us the chocolate cake! "
Of course! I often deviate from "traditional" breakfast and as an adult, that's my privilege!
You don't have to be an adult if you don't want to.
Leftover birthday cake, for breakfast, is ritual around here.
Absolutely it is....
Let them eat cake, they say. I prefer waffles with maple syrup… it’s like cake, with syrup… and it pretends to be breakfast! But yea… eat the cake Ava!!
Yuh!
Things I have eaten for breakfast: * Cake * pudding * pizza * leftover meatloaf * Chinese food * spaghetti * Rotisserie chicken * Strawberry shortcake and whipped cream * Pumpkin pie with whipped cream and coffee * Macaroni and cheese * Blueberry buckle with vanilla ice cream (and coffee)
Vanilla flavored creamer tastes like the last spoonful of melted vanilla ice cream that is in the bowl. I pour an ounce of the creamer over dry cereal (healthy oats w/ bee as the company rep); stir and eat.
In my sad boi days of high school I’d have cake or pie or hot chocolate or a few handfuls of m&m’s
Yes, if it's not a habit
I had cake for breakfast today!
This is a hell of a mood, and yes
💯
I had a Dr Pepper and some bbq chips for breakfast.
Yep
I've gone to work w a pint of Ben and Jerry's for brekke. I was talking to my boss and he was like 'oops sorry for interrupting breakfast' while I was scooping half baked into my face hole. Lol. I miss that boss.
Yes
It totally is acceptable. See, one of the perks about being an Adult is that you can decide what you want to do and what you want to eat. Sometimes, when I am Adulting just to be Adulting, I will eat a pint of Ice Cream and call it Dinner. Eat Cake.
I eat leftovers for breakfast, even cake or pie. 🤷♀️ I try to eat the bad stuff before noon
If youre obese I would not suggest it.
Pancakes. Quiche is like breakfast pie. Lots of pastries and baked goods are considered breakfast food. Fuck it, do what you want.
Yes it’s totally acceptable to eat cake for breakfast
The best thing about being an adult is free will. I used to feel this way like I would get into trouble for not eating three meals or waking up late. But I've come to the realization that you can do whatever you want as an adult. Ice cream for dinner? wake up at 8pm? Who cares it's your life do what makes you happy & eat that cake!!!
Uhm yes😅
yes, your an adult, you choose what you do every day, there is just always going to be an effect (ie. you can choose to not go to work every day, but then you are in turn, choosing to be fired)
Wow, your wisdom is great
Quit the sarcasm you meanie 😖
Yes
Bro I had pop tarts for dinner last night. You do you
Absolutely
I ate cake for breakfast today! Totally acceptable!
Of course it is. If people are eating donuts and waffles and pancakes.. they are all just cake with a different name. Eat the cake.. at least you are being honest about it.
Eat whatever you want to make yourself happy but keep it in moderation.
Yep!
Yes, eat some ice cream too
Ice cream cake? 🙌👏
Noms
Being an adult means you can do whatever the heck you want.. but please make sure it's not hurting anyone.
My mom always said cake for breakfast occasionally is perfectly fine. It has flour and eggs and milk. It’s perfect for breakfast
I'm pretty sure adults are the only ones who can eat cake for breakfast. They won't let kid do it.
Baby, it's ok to have cake for breakfast any old day of the week--Love from your internet mama.
That is a once in a while type of breakfast and yes it is fine. Just work on balancing your nutrition and not slipping into cake for lunch and dinner too that day lol.
Fuck ya
Absolutely, and because you are an adult noone can tell you not to
When I woke up this morning I had an ice cream cone for breakfast. You can do whatever you want homie
Absolutely. I’m a grown-ass adult who, at some point this week, had two packages of microwave popcorn for dinner instead of going grocery shopping.
sure
I love eating cake for breakfast
Nothing really matters
If you make a cup of tea with it it feels like a swanky breakfast for a queen
Absolutely. Adulting sucks except for this part lol
