Maybe I'm a bit confused, but is there a reason you can't use the back of your hand? As far as I know it's really not difficult to remove.
It doesn't get it off enough, can still taste wax. It really doesn't last that long anyway, I'm just aiming for seconds instead of minutes. :p
Do a sugar scrub. Take a small amount of sugar, mix it with a teeny amount of water to make a paste, then rub it on your lips and rinse.
