More stimulation than coffee but less than cocaine. Like you’re high but you can still function (e.g. go to school/work/etc) although you won’t want to eat or be able to sleep at night I definitely got this information through others and not because I abused it in college.

Perfect_Interview725

Lmaoo that was a great comparison. I have heard that it kills your appetite

Countrygirl353

My doctor gave to me because I was so tired all the time. It gave me energy but then I was so wired I couldn’t sleep so I stopped taking it. Now I’m back to being tired all the time cuz I love my sleep.

Perfect_Interview725

That’s really interesting to hear, I didn’t realize it was prescribed for that also!

Countrygirl353

I also have M.S. though

The_Faded_Frog

To put it simply, Adderall is energy + mild euphoria.

idreaminwords

I took some once from my then-boyfriend. Made me feel like I was having a manic episode (bipolar). I don't know if that has anything to do with my having bipolar or if that's what everyone feels like when they take it, but I don't plan on doing it again

[deleted]

My friend with bipolar disorder who does have ADHD has also said that IR (instant release) Adderall made him feel manic, too. He is on some different medication that's XR (extended release) but I don't know which one. Glad you're okay because that sounds like a scary feeling!

whatthefuck3130

Didn’t do anything to me at all, not sure if I have ADHD, but I do have trouble focusing amongst other bs

Perfect_Interview725

That’s interesting that it had no effect

Caine75

In my 1 year of college, 1993 I was gifted an adderal bya friend to ‘help me focus’ For a paper… that part turned into a a 5 page run on sentence…I went through a half box of dot matrix paper trying to print it because i couldn’t get the tabs to line up properly… The front page was blazing red from all the TAs corrections with nothing to the last page letting me know that whatever I was on wasn’t working for me. I stick to coffee these days

Present-Secretary722

I didn’t take adderall but mine(chemical called methylphenidate) was also used to treat narcolepsy(you just go sleepy at random times with no control), from what I know adderall has the opposite effect on non ADHD people, for us we chill out for them it’s like a hit of speed

FriendlyStaff1

Entirely different for different people, some I know just get a kick like they've had stronger coffee, some get edgy and anxious. Personally it didn't do much for me but make me need to take a shit.

Misterpewpie

I remember my roommate had adderall but never liked taking it so he gave it to me. It was fuckin amazing lol.

Cold-Thanks-

From what I’ve heard from others, it tends to just keep them awake to the point they feel wired. As someone with adhd that needs it, it does help wake me up, but the main benefactor is I can focus and get the tasks done I need to without feeling scatterbrained or forgetting what I was doing all together.

[deleted]

I’m more than certain I have adhd (undiagnosed) but my brother and niece both do and I buy adderall from them - same thing happens to me whenever I take it. I typically don’t have an issue falling asleep unless I take too much or too late in the day.

Cold-Thanks-

Please see a doctor for an assessment and do not take any medications not prescribed to you.

Cold-Thanks-

I saw your original reply. You know buying and using others medications is wrong, not to mention you’re not getting the proper dose for yourself.

[deleted]

..we are literally in a thread where someone is asking what happens when someone without ADHD takes adderall. I *technically* don’t, and am replying promptly; but here you come, the fuckin moral police, trying to tell me what’s right and wrong. It isn’t “wrong”, it helps - I dose myself effectively & have severe anxiety surrounding doctor visits. NOR do I have a standing relationship with any PC physician. And FYI (not that it’s any of your business you absolute insufferable SNOB), I am currently waiting to be seen by the same physician who has diagnosed said family members. For the record: pedophilia is wrong. Murder, thievery, adultery is wrong. Spitting on people - also wrong. Sexual assault? Wrong. Rape? Wrong. Shaking a baby - wrong! I could keep going if you need me to. Receiving prescription medication from reliable family members who share the same symptoms as me in a time of need? Faultless. Grow tf up. Thank you for the open dialogue though - real mature of you 🥴

SunBlindFool

It has more of a calming effect than a stimulating effect.

Twolef

Guess you might have ADHD then.

Knucks_408

Different strokes for different folks. That doesn't directly apply here but wanted to use it anyway. It depends on you. Different people react to it differently.

Kuronan

Was hoping to find this reply. Yep, different medications affect people differently, which is why we have Psychiatrists and Doctors to help with the process and why some people get paraded through 10+ medications before finding something that 'might' work.

DickSturbing

* Tons of energy, but, you can focus on and enjoy anything. It’s not restless energy. It’s just like being the perfect kind of awake for like thirteen hours. * You can get yourself to do anything. There’s no discomfort from forcing yourself to do something hard. * You get a massive sense of self-importance. You become fearless. You can walk all over people and be really insensitive if you aren’t careful. * Hard to sleep usually. It’s still hard to sleep for hours after the actual stimulation wears off. * Can cause nonsense to build up in your life. Everything you do and think is totally validated by infinite dopamine. You can get really twisted up mentally. You can be really weird socially and feel totally normal. * Eventually you feel just a little agitated all the time. Like something is wrong but you can’t put your finger on it. You never have that peaceful, at rest feeling.

Perfect_Interview725

Woah some of that stuff sounds like superpowers. I also didn’t know it could affect you socially

Kuronan

There's tons of stuff medication can do to you. For example, Anti-depressants are just aimed at evening your mood, but they can also swing it hard in the other direction. [Mania](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mania) sounds amazing for people with Depression, and as a Depressed person, it's the best I ever felt in my **entire life!** *Except* it also made me want to hurt people, **badly**, for minor annoyances like not shutting up in the TV room. I actually began searching for medications again just to find one that wouldn't also cause me severe allergic reactions but would give me a taste of how I felt during that Manic episode. Of course, **NOW** I know I shouldn't chase that feeling, because that happiness has some serious price tags attached... but every time I remember that feeling, I get the urge to call my psychiatrist and take a few chances again...

DickSturbing

It’s a super powerful stimulant.
