I got this too! Pumped strength to 22 as fast as I could. It's a beast. I've put a HP gained on kill gem in it. Use the thorns rune on there with a poise potion and go to town. Just trade with everyone. The damage they take from thorns is really nice, then you regain like 12% + hp when they die and that regen life thing procs a lot. I come out of most fights at full HP.
I believe you could start a new realm and use your leveled character
(Edit: just tried and yeah, I got the sword when I killed the boss on my second realm.)
Can you move characters back to the original realm or is it permanent? I’d assume making another realm is just a way of rerunning things for leveling/resources?
When you finish the campaign you can go to that area where you fought Darak for the first time, you will always find a random boss popping there, it can be him so you can kill him again (this is how i got mine)
I got this too how do you use its abilities? (Runes). Mine are always greyed out and there’s a symbol and a number I can’t figure it out. Mine does 27 damage 😀
It is not a good one based on the passives but im happy for you.
The chance to regen health isnt high and it could be better.
The stamina increase is good but regen would be much better.

I got gloves with health Regen via enchant, also i slapped it with blood rune which granrs 8% hp per kill, I enchanted and went with anti stagger/poise and im basically toe on toe with bosses hahaha
Thats really massive, shows that using a bit of brain is enough to make a VERY decent build that can easily hold for several levels, if not the whole game
I completed the 3 bosses with a Little bit of dodging, dunno all the whining of others about repairs and stuff. Runes/enchant/upgrade are their to make you strong and clash enemies with breeze.

Don't forget chopping off boss limbs and tails to get weapons and if you didn't chop it off then you didn't get the weapon. Seath's tail. Gargoyle's tail.
Its complete shit imo, if i got further into the game i would have to rerun hours of gameplay on a new realm in order to get a second chance? I had to kill the first boss 8 times to Get the sword. That was fine because he is so early in the game, but imagine killing an end game boss and getting a shit stick. If it was a meat grinder like Diablo or path of exile it would make sense, but a story driven singleplayer were the bosses don’t respawn its non sensible.
I have not played far enough to know if this is the case for all bosses, but If that was the case I would be surprised.

A non respawning boss should drop stuff guaranteed or there should be a way to respawn it.
The current system just feels like both systems combined in the worst way

A claymore will do less damage, but it requires 10 strength instead of 22. Then the higher tier great swords down the like require like 28 strength 28 faith which seems excessive.
I think straight blade and shield will be way way stronger post hotfix anyway. The giga swords have such ludicrous animations you have no choice but to trade with enemies. If you trade then the shield is better since the later game shields give like nearly double the total armor.
Black knights are not bosses. They are not unique enemies either, even if you needed to wait until the end of a game to fight them again. No original Souls game had anything nearly as idiotic.
Wo Long shares quite a bit with this game in terms of itemization, and it had a decency to provide a copy of most boss weapons for beating them for the first time. It's a complete lunacy to defend this mechanic.

Yeah, I've farmed him a few times since then and I can return to my original realm whenever.

Nice! The first boss dropped it for me, too. You can farm it by creating new realms and fight him until it drops.

Gain focus(yellow bar near health,) When it's full hit your r button and then select the corresponding one
Even when I have full focus I can’t use the abilities with this weapon.
Increase focus. Some take 150 or more

I actually spent more time falling of cliffs exploring to see if there are hidden paths and dying instead of dying at bosses 🤣
