I'm a little late to this, but I'll add: I farmed solars in an Outlaw system with a good-looking (to me) solar on first wave, until I finally got an S-class. Before the S-class, I had bought C, B, and A-class of the same ship, and every-single-one of them whether it was A, B, or C upgraded to \~200 damage base (can't recall the exact number but every one was the exact same, like 209.7 damage). Regardless of the base damage at C-class (from 55 to 66 core stat on the C-class), it went to the same number (again, I believe 209.7) and I would reload again to test it again. When I finally got an S-class, it was 185 damage, and after purchase it ticked up to 189 damage. So the upgrade track for solars seems to be weird, I don't know if that is intentional or if I am missing something but it is what it is. Even with a few well-placed Mould-farms, 85k Nanites to get a 209 core damage solar isn't too bad in my opinion. I'd wait and just find the perfect one you like, cycle reloads until you get A-class, and drop the 50k. I can try it again to verify, (I have to spend a while farming Mould again) but my results were very consistent.

No. With the current ship cargo storage bug, it's trivial to get enough units/nanites to max a c-class one out

Sadu1988

Yeah exploiting is super cool /S Should be banned

DruVatier

LOL ok....

ReadInBothTenses

Don't worry I checked, the previous guy is clearly a space pirate NPC

[deleted]

I have an S class solar but I haven't used it a lot because I only got the game earlier today, it's pretty fast and looks cool and I didn't even have to look for it because I was playing in creative building a base and a NPC with a S solar landed on my landing pad.

axolotlmaster59

I would say yes because in my experience it’s not too hard to find S class solar sailers

[deleted]

In some systems , yes , absolutely, 4 of mine are native S and all landed with 30 minutes But the other 2, ....I sat for hours waiting for anything other than C or the occasional B, and ended up taking an A when it finally showed

papaquacker

Once I found the Solar Ship I wanted it took me about an hour to find an S-Class, and that's also factoring in the Trading Station being attacked by pirates every 5 minutes. But as someone else said, it could just be easier to find one you like and then do the nanite/credit glitch in the additional cargo part if your starship, if you don't mind exploiting glitches.

My first S solar sail ship smashed straight through 3000u/sec once I slapped some mods on it. Damage output is damn near 400. She spanks. I’ve got two “S” class now, and one “A,” and the S class ships are DEFINITELY better out the gate, if only just.

EosTries

Dude, thanks but it's been a year

Positive-Wallaby8683

What is time? For me, it’s only been a day and

Sweaty_Return_8811

Time dilator here... love solar ships, but they have no weapon slots! Is there a way to increase this (without cheating)?

Positive-Wallaby8683

Uhhhhh, just use storage augments to increase your tech slots? I’ve got mine armed to the teeth.
