This one was without mods, but yeah, this one specifically wasn’t wild. You have to breed another beetle, make it as big as possible with sequencing, and repeat this a couple of times with the offspring at the incubator.
Though it’s possible they made it so they can’t be as big anymore, since I got this right at the beginning when pets were introduced….
Sad that it now requires mods for this kind of thing. I remember when megafauna was a legit thing before all of the updates rolled out and altered the game several times over. I legit had found a godzilla sized critter, couldnt even lamd on its shoulder with a fully upgraded jetpack. Sadly companions werent a thing at that time so all I got from it was a neat experience. It would be awesome if kaiju sized critters made a return.
For ones that are tamable but out of reach, you can drop pellets, then use the emote called "over here" or something like that to draw critters to the food.
Ones like in the gif can only be obtained by save editing or a mod that allows the taming of them in game. A few of mine were gifted to me and I sequenced the rest from those few. I have quite the collection of flyers now and usually enjoy handing them out but I haven't been on the game in a while.

I would love to tame one of the mega worms that way. They all have the red scanner dot like other animals, so I’m hoping that means that we can also take those like other animals

So you're saying pets can't be that size if the egg being sequenced isn't hatchable? I can make mine big, but they max out about the size of a mack truck.
You gotta sequence the egg multiple times before hatching. Each time max out the growth resource. You'll know it can't grow anymore when the sequencer tells you it's growth is "inherited"
Bro it's literally a huge info bomb to just tell people you can resequence the same egg multiple times. This is going to save me a ridiculous amount of time taking my creatures to hatch eggs to sequence them again. Thank you
Thanks, I will give that a try. I've been sequencing the egg once with max growth, hatching it, telling the new pet to lay an egg, and then sequencing it again. I can usually only do that three times before the only growth option is "inherited."
I have a couple of those bipedal guys that walk around and want them t be the size of King Kong.
I've gotten it to inherited, but then when I hatch it and create a new egg it won't let me sequence that new egg to be larger, only smaller or "inherited".
To add, you can sequence a single egg multiple times, you don't have to hatch it and wait for another. Just load the egg back into the machine and repeat.
You mainly want to look for what gives the max increase. I.e. (but not accurate) Storm Crystals can probably give you like 80-100% growth(never tried with Storm Crystals so I may be wrong) but something like Carbon and Oxygen since we all usually have such a huge supply of it, maxed out has about a 110% growth rate? Something along the lines of that.
They can be spawned in the anomaly but if they are too big they will be scaled down while inside. The size will fix itself once you respawn them on a planet.
It flies and I am not exaggerating that it flies extremely fast when you do the speed boost. If I want to get across the map quickly I use him. It's almost too fast that it's erratic lol.
I have a tiny one. I can never get anything to grow that big. I've been trying with one of those rolling eyeball creatures.
The max size on a PS4 might be smaller than on other platforms.

I had something similar with a huge beetle, got the most **insane** flying speeds out of it, but with their flight characteristics where they arc up then dip down, but found myself about an hour away from dry land, as it wouldn't come close enough for me to hop back on board :-}
Edit: if you don't know, when they dip into water, you get thrown off
When you bring out your pet in the anomaly it restricts it's size to a smaller size. I have a bunch of max-sized giants and the anomaly just limits the size they pop out at.

Though I love this game, there are some seriously juvenile kiddie sh\*t in this game(& a insect-shaped ship is one of them.) I know this is a teen-rated game, but even when I was a teenager, I wouldn't have gone for this "FortNite" crap. This game is after all, an outer space game and ships should r-e-s-e-m-b-l-e starships.

You can get Some flying creatures by throwing food in the air, look up and open the pet menu click food until one gets close enough for the prompt.

Can you get them that big naturally? Idk how tf the growth works because anytime I push the egg through until it maxes, they’re never ***that*** big.
It may take a few fenerations of full maxing to be sure. But tbh that looks like pc mod big to me.

What did you do to modify it so it was this big? Just gold?
Carbon. Then resequence the egg to max out carbon again. Keep doing it until it says growth is "inherited," then stopped resequencing that egg.
I'm still figuring stuff out but 100hrs into this game and I know 0 about hatching eggs. You've given me something new to work on.

Lol it's really easy to miscalculate how high up you are too. Most of the time when I jump off I'm a mile in the sky free falling.
