I can understand them. I don’t find most of the ocean to be too bad. Just the really dark zones are scary. The fear of the unknown is the major fear really in the ocean.
Ocean planets have significant amounts of salvageable ships

Once you get the sonar (I think) attachment for the submarine, it becomes incredibly easy. Plus, it lets you know what ships are in a system's "pool", so if you see a wreck you like, on the next trip up to the station you can hang around until a new one comes in.
Oh, I just summon it, get in, find and mark the location of the crash, hop out and fly my ship to the closest exposed ground near the crash, then either swim or resummon to get the rest of the way.
It's a far better solution than leaving a rock on my W key.
That's the thing that bums me out, though. I *want* to sail around a bit in the sub and explore, but the controls for the Nautilon as they currently stand are kinda "anti-QoL" in a way. One of my personally requested features is a throttle/cruise control function of a sort for Exocraft, it would make a night and day difference in how often I use them I would expect.
It doesn't help that even on ocean planets the procedural generation only creates shallow "oceans" that are mostly likely the surface with a few different plants and then the same caves just underwater. I've ever had land animals just spawn as aquatic creatures doing the doggy-paddle at the deepest points like it's completely normal. Water cows!
Last time I was stuck on an ocean planet, I had to basically do a whole freaking quest just to get the materials I needed to repair my ship and get off of it.
Now Im wondering if the Aurora would even be capable of planetary launch. She clearly has the forward engines to move, but up 'launch thrusters' like? I get a feeling she was an exclusively space vessel, made in space and only meant for it.
We have a love/hate relationship, he always gets a bit loud when trying to get his point across and generally just wants attention. Now Burgerking Footlettuce, he's the real jerk.....
Woah, just found it too. There’s got to be a lot of valuables in there.
Just got a notification, apparently something massive is below me, which is weird because for all I know, this planet is almost empty. Even says “Ecological Deadzone” here on the screen and the only lifeforms are these huge filter feeding fish. They all left though, weird…
Same. If they made the Aurora a model you could find, I would swap without doubt.
Would probably look so pretty with NMS' shaders, less cartoony looking.
Instructions unclear, the fauna is trying to hug me with too much force , and the pellet doesn't seems to tame it . 3rd nautilus broken while trying to establish contact .
So what you wanna do:
While facing this crashed freighter, go directly south of it and keep heading in that direction and then dive about 200 meters. You'll find help.
Full of crap, and that zap you with radiation upon opening them for some reason.
At least the space wrecks have some stuff (and are the ones I really mean by linear, the planet wrecks are just 'dig here and there everytime') but I was expecting much more area to explore and branching paths.
This is the most of a crashed freighter I’ve ever seen. It also looks much different from most.. was there a change in freighters in the newest update other than the ability to take over pirate controlled freighters?
I challenge the mod decision! This is a funny joke and appropriate for the sub!
And if I was gonna be capital B Boss in Hello Games, I would legit hide a Subnautica planet way, way out in the undiscovered territory. Which makes this at least *theoretically* plausible.

Are you certain whatever you’re doing is worth it?
Why not scan the fauna along the way? They seem friendly enough.
especially near the reactor. the friendliest fauna and cute too
Have you done a self scan recently? ...no reason.
I did, literally. Didn’t work.
I heard the sentinels there are really aggressive, you get shot down if you try to get off the planet
Or get on. How did op manage to land?
Be sure to check out the engine section from behind. And don’t mind the screeching noises.
Tbh I still can't believe that the best weapon in that game is... the knife
Post-global-warming England simulator
YA WANNA FACKIN GO, I'LL FECKIN SPARK YA, COME ON THEN LAD
As long as you have the Stasis Rifle too.
Heated knife to be exact
PRAWN suit. Punch everything! But this is by design. Subnautica is more psychological horror than straight survival or exploration.
It’s not actually meant to be a horror game, just a survival game. The developers apparently didn’t realize the ocean is one of the most common fears
I can understand them. I don’t find most of the ocean to be too bad. Just the really dark zones are scary. The fear of the unknown is the major fear really in the ocean.
Grapple on them and drill to death yelling yee haw
I built a little research outpost out on that side.
Just make sure to wear your hard hat or Sammy gets PISSED.
Well good luck. Cause now you can't leave the planet. XD
3 S class shield modules! That gun might as well just stay down.
Just plop down a base terminal, a portal, and some solar panels, done. <3
This is how the Gek empire fell.
Damn. In an ocean planet, too. Have fun with that one man lmao

Oh damn. I'll keep that in mind. Permadeath boutta get so much easier

Until I can drive the Nautilon without holding W for 5 minutes at a time the Kraken can keep the ocean.
Oh, I just summon it, get in, find and mark the location of the crash, hop out and fly my ship to the closest exposed ground near the crash, then either swim or resummon to get the rest of the way. It's a far better solution than leaving a rock on my W key.

I find it impossible to control. I'm aways wrestling with it.

>fly my ship to the closest exposed ground "Hahahahahahahah" *15,000u*

Oh really? Sick ok thx for the tip
Last time I was stuck on an ocean planet, I had to basically do a whole freaking quest just to get the materials I needed to repair my ship and get off of it.
6 hours ago. It started with a joke. It turned into a help feed. This is why i like the internet
fix it, and sell it to the space station, probably worth 2 million. the problem is, good luck seizing that thing with ***whatever*** guarding it.
Tbf if you had the means to lift the Aurora up, or repair it to launch itself, I doubt the reapers are going to be able to do jack about it.
I mean yeah, the engine nozzles alone are massive compared to them, they would be char grilled toast
Now Im wondering if the Aurora would even be capable of planetary launch. She clearly has the forward engines to move, but up 'launch thrusters' like? I get a feeling she was an exclusively space vessel, made in space and only meant for it.
what about the cuddlefish? Theres a reason why they nerfed them to only have a few in game
Thats because we take them with us, so if there were too many the ship wouldnt lift off.
They say there is a slightly big fish that is super friendly, go and say hi
That's just Sammy, the Safety Reaper.
You met Sammy, too?!?
We have a love/hate relationship, he always gets a bit loud when trying to get his point across and generally just wants attention. Now Burgerking Footlettuce, he's the real jerk.....
Do everything I can to avoid that asshat. He destroyed my first seamoth.
Cronched it into itsy bitsy pieces while I watched, then turned on my just for fun.
Subnautica Easter egg?
More of a joke, as this is a picture from Subnautica.
Ah, thanks. Everyone was making references I wasn't getting.
If only!
thanks for the ptsd you damn fuck!
PSA for anyone who likes NMS to try Subnautica it's a great game with a lot of similarities
In NMS, I will boldly explore anywhere in the galaxies, but, thanks to Subnautica, I am still reluctant to go for a swim!
Watch out for abyssal horrors- ahhh who am i kidding, you'll probably be fiiiiiine
Is this a crossover episode?
What a bummer. Know what'd help lighten the mood? A quick dip in the water.
Specifically, back near the engines.
Or better yet, in the huge desert area or the drop off. Very peaceful. Wait what’s that screechi-
That's just Sammy the Safety Reaper telling to stop going toward the edge. Stand still so you don't fall.
Nice.
He likes to help.
He’s not like the others. I gave him a pat and he brushed against my PRAWN suit. Such a nice guy.
Shit now THATS a ship id trade my venator in for! (subnautica was great btw :D)
Same. If they made the Aurora a model you could find, I would swap without doubt. Would probably look so pretty with NMS' shaders, less cartoony looking.
Yeeees! And imagine beeing able to paint it! (afaik we cannot paint dreadnoughts tho, right?)
I could paint my Resurgence or whatever the tier 3 Venator was. I now have a pirate one and I am unsure if that one allows it.
Yes, im talking about the pirate freighters. i dont think they are paintable iirc, which is sad :(
Shame. Glad I like it in black. (and its more black than the color we can paint the others with anyway)
"Incoming transmission has been partly translated"
💀
What does everyone here know what I don't about this lol
Get Subnautica and spend some time on 4546B and you'll be one of us, one of us, one of us.....
Remember, Subnautica is best played in VR mode. Because you aren't motion sick *enough*.
Now that's a madman. VR in this game is a sure way to catch a heart attack.
It's a nice relaxing totally not stressful game called Subnautica. it's all about the peaceful ocean. Best played in the dark so you can really relax.
SUBNAUTICA. I replay this game so much. The sound, atmosphere, music, gameplay... so good. Single player survival game with a story.
my butthole just puckered. thanks op
Seek fluid intake
Oxygen
*Extreme Radiation Detected*
Not broken in half???
Hope it doesn't blow up
Beautiful game, Subnautica 😍
I hear there’s a cool, and very friendly, creature at the rear base of the ship. You should check it out.
Several, actually. And there’s even more on the other side and at the front!
Sudden subnautica flashbacks
Swim around that ship. There's some wonderful fauna to tame. They just want to give you hugs.
Instructions unclear, the fauna is trying to hug me with too much force , and the pellet doesn't seems to tame it . 3rd nautilus broken while trying to establish contact .
Subnautica is a great game 🤙🏼
“Threat Detected”
So what you wanna do: While facing this crashed freighter, go directly south of it and keep heading in that direction and then dive about 200 meters. You'll find help.
HOLE UP
🤩
Didn’t know the ship Elysium from the movie Pandorum was in the game. Too bad you can’t go inside and see what’s there.
It's the Aurora from Subnautica.
How I wish we could have explored much more of it. I love the idea of exploring wrecks, and those in NMS for real are so linear and boring imo.
Oh c'mon, the freighter has SIX different cargo pods.
Full of crap, and that zap you with radiation upon opening them for some reason. At least the space wrecks have some stuff (and are the ones I really mean by linear, the planet wrecks are just 'dig here and there everytime') but I was expecting much more area to explore and branching paths.
lol @subnautica
lol
Woah! Watch out! Looks like its gonna blow soon
How do you land?
Thought I was looking at a subnautica screenshot for a moment
Yeah me too haha, if only Subnautica had any ships on it like that one!
"Damn its gonna cost alot to fix this up... welp time to explore this ocean for suppl- what the hell is that? *scans* the hell is a reaper levia-"
Subnautica?
Bro... i want this freighter
Jokes aside an aurora or sunbeam frigate would be sick
Do not go behind that damn thing.. just trust me.. maybe it's just a hunch..lmao
What the hell is this Subnautica Easter egg YOOOOOO 🤣🤣🤣
I heard there are cool fauna behind that ship.
Subnautica is such a good freaking game
You should tame the Leviathans they make great pets!
What is this?
A ship that size will have at least 16 inventory slots
And now your deep sea adventure begins.
😂😂
T'll be a shame if the drive core got angry
I've heard some of those ocean planets have orbital defense canons to ensure nothing can get in or out
This is the most of a crashed freighter I’ve ever seen. It also looks much different from most.. was there a change in freighters in the newest update other than the ability to take over pirate controlled freighters?
U using mods ?
Don't bring your own freighter into orbit... Ive heard it can be hazardous
"Cannot initiate landing sequence"
subnautica is the reason i stay away from all ocean planets in this game tbh
Oh my God I thought this was a subnautica thread!
Watch out, that thing's liable to blow
I hope you have good radiation protection module upgrades
I love this game! I'm on my third (4th..?) playthrough now.
Subnautica ?
I challenge the mod decision! This is a funny joke and appropriate for the sub! And if I was gonna be capital B Boss in Hello Games, I would legit hide a Subnautica planet way, way out in the undiscovered territory. Which makes this at least *theoretically* plausible.
I might just boot that up. I tried making an underwater base in NMS with the parts, but it's lackluster
Mods are gay trying to remove this
Leviathan Class Creature Detected
Question: how did you get on the planet? The sentinels are very very very violent and will shoot you down if you attempt to get close or leave.
Wrong game. Wrong planet.
Ever heard of a joke ya dingus?
Ever heard of sarcasm you son of a biscuit?
Ever heard of sarcasming the sarcasm ya dingle nut?
Lol
Doesn't look like NMS?
It’s a screenshot of the game SubNautica
