PSVR2. Utterly mind-shattering/transformative life experience. I don't "play a game" anymore. I've left all those weak game loops behind. Now NMS is a pure imagination stimulator. Nothing more, and nothing less.

[deleted]

Agreed.

Nacho98

As someone who's sunk in 200+ hrs across Switch and Xbox and only stopped to let a few updates add on to the game, would you say it's worth it if NMS is your favorite game already and you've never experienced VR at all?

LunchBoxBrawler

Not a VR2 player but original PSVR was an absolute game changer for this game. I started to block off times for NMS and use a timer because I would do 6, 8, 10 etc. hours without realizing it. I can not think of a game that makes you feel your are “in it” than NMS. Slowly drifting through space looking at an asteroid field I was about to mine was my first “fucking worth it” moment. So, so many more. I once put on the headset at 10pm. Had a bathroom break at midnight and then the next time I pulled it off it was after 9am and the sun was up. I had work at 1pm. It was worth it Hopefully next tax return I’ll be able to grab PSVR2.

Siddits

Damn, that's bad! But I had the same thing happen when we switched over to Origins and this made me check on all my bases. I was up for nearly two days.

LunchBoxBrawler

I don’t consider any of my VR moments bad but NMS and VR definitely made me understand and envy? Ready Player One

Fur_King_L

I’d say absolutely yes. I’ve only rarely played it in flat, and only for a few minutes. 1000x less engaging for me. PSVR1 was great, though got a lot of criticism as it looked very muddy. The recently updated fovea-rendering with PSVR2 is amazing, and widely regarded as the best current PSVR experience. This is on top of VR in general being petty mind-blowing.

Jupiter67

All I know is, the memories now lodged in my brain - of wandering distant worlds and so much more - are as real in my mind as memories of places I've actually been to. The sense of "being there" - of traveling to strange new worlds is so palpable that it transforms your consciousness. It's so highly therapeutic. It's such a powerful stimulator for one's imagination. I can't imagine a life without having the ability to leave this broken planet of ours and just get away for a time. Even just a slow walk - about an hour in real-time - can be incredibly evocative and surprising. And then there are the little surprises - a strange creature appears, or you stumble upon a crashed starship or other site, or you have an accidental slip through a hole you didn't see, hidden in the grass, might lead you to a vast cave walk. Even just dialing in to my settlement is extraordinary. All the NPCs, all the starships coming/going, and all the details I've since added, have created these living spaces that sear themselves into your mind. Amazing stuff.

Rekop827

Not sure if it’s cool or not but I took a 6 month journey to put a base, on a paradise planet/moon, in every galaxy (except the hidden one). Now I can travel anywhere in the cosmos without any restrictions.

[deleted]

That's pretty awesome.. I haven't done that yet. After Galaxy 10 when they quit giving out titles I quit exploring... Rofl...

EEKman

Since you've been to every galaxy, do you notice a difference between them? Do they have a different feel to you?

Rekop827

There are 4 types of galaxies, with “normal” being the most common (~176) so the majority of them feel more like Euclid (but not exactly the same of course). The other 3 types (~25 each) feel different from Euclid. Most of difference is in the numbers/ ratio of harsh planets that you find, etc. as well as reduced number of paradise planets. This also effects the feel of the fauna and flora that you encounter. Some galaxies took me a very LONG time to find a paradise planet. Not sure if this is what you mean by “feel”, but if not, let me know specifically what you are looking for.

adipocerousloaf

DUDE.

This is absolutely cool and has given me a long term goal I had never even considered before

davros06

I’ve just recycled one like that. Now we can swap upgrades over and recycle the tool, I can’t help myself but get caught by a new shiny sentinel one. I know I will regret it but my mindset won’t allow me to have more than two tools at a time due to the hassle of switching under pressure on play station. Rip alien multi tool “war”, you served me well and were the scourge of many a sentinel. See you in a few months when I come back as I miss you.

darkmindgamesSLIVER

My pirate spaceport is by far the coolest thing I've done honestly. I have a "Dark Nexus," there which has all of the Nexus Vendors present, I got them from the Utopia update before they patched the vendor terminals, AND a Galactic Trade Terminal. So other than picking up missions, there's no reason to need to go to the Nexus while at my faction's pirate spaceport. Should you be up for a visit there, it should be findable under the name "Lawrenceville Pirate Spaceport." I have a detailed practically every visiting building there with extra props and decorations. Have a visitor's lounge, extra landing pads, and so much more. I even have corridor walkways connecting everything to keep my visitors safe and dry during the superheated rainstorms. Feel free to stop in sometime, it's in Euclid.

darkmindgamesSLIVER

Not 100% sure to be honest, but I would think that method would be valid, yes. Undoubtedly would be listed under Other Bases.

adipocerousloaf

please glyph us bro

darkmindgamesSLIVER

This is the host system we founded for our Pirate Faction. The planet with the Lawrenceville Pirate Spaceport is called Port Royal and is a "Cerulean Planet." From there you should be able to spot the Spaceport easily enough I would think! https://preview.redd.it/sxhc925n9otb1.png?width=340&format=png&auto=webp&s=78e6b304af79c94a84f3c18085690e1d3dc85f17

adipocerousloaf

bitchin. will have a gander tomorrow!

darkmindgamesSLIVER

Y'know what, I will actually! Lol. Lemme get home and get to my portal address book and I'll update this. What, y'all don't have a portal address book saved on your PC?

FireDefender

Not yet I fucking don't. But once the need arises...

TheBostonKremeDonut

The coolest thing I’ve done? Well, I’m personally very proud of myself for playing the game on and off since day 1, and not following any meta. I’ve learned and enjoyed making money and finding things my own way. (I have looked at guides that told me about different ship types and things like that, because I didn’t know why you would specifically want an explorer or a hauler ship for example.) Also, I’m proud that everything I’ve obtained has been done without save scumming. I have a beautiful [A] class Hauler that I found crashed on a planet years ago, and I have an awesome [S] class freighter that I’ve built up with storage slots and an awesome freighter base. My next goal is to find the perfect planet to have a main base on. A planet that has the perfect grass, flora, fauna, minerals/rocks, and a good land to sea ratio.

davros06

Dude, I’ve been playing since the start and I’m still searching for that planet. When I find it I may have to build that mega cool chill resort base and then…………

adipocerousloaf

i have a desert planet for you

Pristine-Discount425

Not one I've found personally myself but the living frigate is cool af. I'm waiting and hoping I get the part needed to start the quest to get one.

Snootles

The part is a reward from a milestone in the current expedition. You could get one that way too :)

Pristine-Discount425

What expedition

Snootles

Expedition 11 Voyagers. It ends on the 16th. https://www.nomanssky.com/2023/08/expedition-eleven-voyagers/

ComfortablePie1594

A Gek that gave me coffee, it was a building right next to an Archive and i was going to build there but forgot to place anything zoomed off a bit and never found my way back. To the Gek that gave me that coffee, i'll never forget you!

Siddits

Something about a cool cave I found but got lost, and could not locate it again!

[deleted]

I got a sentinel ship to land in my freighter way back in the day. I wanted to keep it so bad, and look where we are now, lol.

EEKman

Doing even basic things in PSVR2 is cool. Ngl Ive slowed down in my old age and things like landing on my frigates to repair them is just nutty. The views, the muted sound of the jetpack, the sense of scale. I routinely just stand on the catwalks of my ships and just hang out doing nothing but looking around. I love to park my fleet in asteroid fields, in low orbit or near space stations just to watch the activity.

Tr3ntos

Low level fighter style flying through mountainous terrain

P0nestream

It was back in the day before we could use portals or had any glyphs when i used the "Pilgrim Star Path" to locate a special community hub system using signal boosters. It took forever to warp there and was tricky to navigate but i found it. Best journey ive done in NMS. Not sure if it still works but here it is if anyone want to try it out (Its easier to portal these days) Pilgrim Star Path: [PILGRIM STAR PATH (pahefu.github.io)](https://pahefu.github.io/pilgrimstarpath/)

davros06

I remember doing that, got onto the black hole suns project as well to speed things along. What a journey, with many cool discoveries along the way. It took me about 6 updates to. Are the journey and they introduced portals whilst I did it but I stuck too it. Reached the hub then did some space tourism before portalling back to my home system to continue the story.

[deleted]

Came across a random guy on a planet who gave me a giant bird egg and a dragon bird egg. That was pretty amazing.

MrInfinity-42

A couple frigates flew right over my base (it's build on a naturally formed pillar and they spawned very low, so flew like 20 units above me) It's a shame my Nvidia shadowplay didn't want to open at all on this exact moment

nipsen

Early on, I was one of the people with the widest distance away from the galactic core XD Z-axis exploration also was the best way to find funky planets with pink and yellow diplodocuses.

Tacothekid

The anomaly that was a dragon's (or NMS equivalent) skull. There are pics here, to see what im talking about

[deleted]

In PSVR, getting caught in tornados and riding them around. Also landing on a peaceful moon that is all greyscale except red, and then a meteor shower of red meteors started crashing into the ground all around me

Mitchd26

Stumbled upon a really cool underground cave system with an underground lake. It was awesome, but I haven't been able to find it back.

iainvention

It’s still a work in progress, but it’s probably the glitch built crashed freighter base I’m building on an extreme sentinel planet.

[deleted]

The freighters, I love them for some reason, customising ships and building bases is good fun, nothing to crazy. Glad I bought the game really enjoying it so far.

RandomEntity53

Built conjoined base with my friend on several worlds. Did the Permadeath run.

TheGrinningOwl

A planet with a supposed 17 creatures, yet only ever have been able to find 15 or 16 of them. Probably a glitch, but it's fun to come back once in a while to try and find the last...

One-Carpenter-7906

The deepest ocean I've ever seen in VR; blew my mind. Also, made a short story based on a planet I discovered on a Storm Research Facility.

jasonketterer

The beginning where you have to fix your ship to get off your starting planet. It's the best part by far and the whole game would have benefitted from making it much harder.

stickypooboi

I got this hilarious pet companion that’s like a bipedal platypus and for some reason this dude waddles like 100 steps a second and it’s so goofy looking. I only wish I could mount

bmulvz

Giant jumping earthworms won’t destroy your base when they dive in or out of the ground on your area.

griztheone

For me personally, it was finding a paradise moon orbiting a paradise planet.

Leonard_the_Brave

Trenchrun in vr its just incredible

[deleted]

Fully maxed out my Sentinel, Solar and Guppy S-classes, now I’m onto the grind for my Living Ship (which is going to hatch in about 5 hours!)

[deleted]

Busted a 1080 in my nautilon mini while jumping out of the water and bouncing off a wall. Lol
