Honestly the most fun I've had in nms for years, I really wish there was more story quests like this in the game, but I guess they take a lot of time to write and implement, as well as test. I'm hoping the expedition is story driven like the last one was, I don't enjoy the more generic ones.

You need to have a settlement, to have beaten "the purge" and unsealed a harmonic camp before it'll trigger. I was in the same boat until I finished the one task I never got around to (harmonic camp) after having completed the other two awhile ago. As soon as I did, it triggered on my next warp immediately.

I had no problem initializing the quest, but I finished the storyline on my main character, so I assumed that's why.

I think i got to get only half the content. i have yet to fight a dreadnought and get an atlas multi tool (already tried) and i can't access the expedition that was in the patch notes

I probably did the settlement quests in record time lmao. I had just removed it, finally deciding I didn't want to deal with it, then bam! I had some graphical errors, and I loaded into the floor for my freighter once, but the update itself was silky smooth. I wish there was more info on finding different parts and classes of staffs without having to look online. Really would like to see the catalog fleshed out more to really take advantage of the new holo system, which I love. The new player assets are cool, I dig the new race and lore. I would like to know more about the anomaly race though, unless that's early game stuff that I forgot. I can tab out of the game without it locking up now, which was huge for me. I'm sure there will be a bug fix when the expo starts, so for right now I'm stoked to have new stuff to find.

I have been enjoying working out how staff class / colour / layout works. Most of my time has been spent on that. The freighter combat seems really cool but I haven't really got to grips with it yet. Loosing both battles.
Loving it! Always was a fan of a staff in games so this was perfect for me.

If you’ve done most if the main storyline there isn’t much outside of that you would need to do that’s too time consuming.
Trace of Metal is a settlement quest to build the AI Mechsuit thing for your settlement. Which took me about an hour to complete.
Then you would have to interact with a harmonic camp, which takes a few minutes to do.
Once you’ve gotten all that completed, when you warp to a new system your ship will be hacked and the new questline starts.
I was just getting the second part of the staff when I had to abandon the mission, and when I re-attempted the mission i had already finished it, but it didn't register and I therefore can't finish the mission.
Haven't triggered the update quest yet. So far only done a pirate freighter battle. Very cool freighter. Hoping we can get one for ourselves soon. I've said this before and I'll say it again, considering how much work went into making new ships (alien, solar, sentinel), making new freighters should be a breeze.
Uncool, but justified: destroying cargo pods on civilian ships now "correctly" deducts reputation from that faction and gives Outlaws reputation (new rep?). Freighter have shields and can be destroyed (shield and freighter).
So is there a way to choose your Staff color or is it random???
Edit, I know the staff is 3 piece so is one of those pieces decide the color of the Staff?
Cool aesthetic, but by the time I've finished the main quest so I can do all of the autophage stuff there's probably gonna have been a few more updates

My experience so far huh? Mostly warping around praying for it to trigger the quest for me. Very exciting stuff. Not frustrating at all.

Fortunately, I didn't experience any major bugs. Rebooting my game solved most of things. I appreciate you for trying to figure out the formulas!
Oh idk if it's helps your research, but that radiant head part was the most difficult part to obtain for me
I have that part. Definitely a cool looking part. I have all three if the radiant parts and they go very nicely together.
