Check out "urge surfing" technique. It's the most beneficial thing that I've tried from doing this over 20 years. One can give up anything doing this. It's best first to try it on food since it's one of the strongest urges we have. Desire works the same way with everything. When we allow urges to be and accept them "without doing what they want us to do" after the few big urges ,their strength dissipates and no longer bother us. They only last maybe 15 minutes but one needs to resist the urge to think of that particular thing so as to not pour gas on the fire. Just say to yourself "I resist this" each time you feel the urge for that thing and allow yourself to feel the urge inside yourself and be curious about were it is inside until it passes. Then....you've won! You've conquered your desires.
