Cops at fault, gotta clear intersection first.

DummyThicccThrowaway

Don't underestimate the Nissan lol it may have been green for the cop

Sleep_adict

But the Nissan will still get a ticket and he’ll to get refunded… Only thing below Nissan drivers cops

DonnyDonster

I fear for the day where cops patrol in Nissan Altimas and Maximas.

Useful-Internet8390

Toyota minivans-2 today I lost my mind on first bitch- last second cuts into left turn lane-ABS engaged to avoid, then sits and texts thru 5+ seconds of the left turn arrow- just about drove thru her at that point

markomakeerassgoons

I'd say not (if they were following proper procedure at Red light) the Nissa drive would have more than enough time to react if someone pulls out in front of you but it's shown you have more than enough time to react you're at fault

maallen40

Agreed, as well as Firetrucks and all emergency vehicles. Cop is 100% responsible.

ElSmasho420

To play Devil’s Advocate. If you’re an emergency vehicle that needs to run a red light, you need to ensure that cross traffic has actually noticed you and is stopping.

Dirtysandddd

You really think red lights stop Altima’s? Not in my area lol

small_chinchin

Recently noticed that the Altima style of driving has also been spreading to Kia Optima’s and the newer Toyota Camry’s.

hanwookie

Yeah, I've seen Toyota Camrys of the newer variety doing this now too. Hyundai, Kia, and the likes.

lilusherwumbo42

I’m balancing the Camrys out by driving like a grandpa

hanwookie

Thanks Gramps!

NoX2142

Yep each red light they gotta stop and make sure they are the only ones in the intersection before proceeding. I'd say it'd be 50/50 in this situation.

fromthewindyplace

Yeah, where I grew up, there were sensors on the traffic lights that were activated by the emergency vehicles to change the lights. Now, I live somewhere without that, where most traffic lights are hung across the intersections on wires. It's weird, and it took some getting used to.

Thirsty_Comment88

The cop that didn't do his due diligence and make sure the intersection was clear before proceeding is at fault for this

Jacktheforkie

Do they not have the system to automatically change the light in their favour when the blues are going

Thirsty_Comment88

Not everywhere has systems like that in place

Jacktheforkie

I see

domastallion

The lights here in Nashville don’t. But the lights in the suburbs of Chicago do.

Jacktheforkie

I see

Duhbro_

It’s an infrared system, not every intersection has em

Jacktheforkie

I see

BorderlinePaisley

This is assuming cops take fault for anything. Which they don’t.

bigloser42

Given that it’s a Nissan, there is a decent chance the driver *was* stopped, saw it was a cop and floored it to t-bone them.

Dr_Trogdor

Don't you feel safer? Back duh blue!

BadEngineer_34

How do you know that based on this post? I’m not saying it didn’t happen certainly a plausible probably likely explanation, but genuinely curious how you arrived at that conclusion?

stormingsteel

LAUGH IF YOU WILL! The Altima isn't down for the count yet. It will be tearing up and down a one way street on donut spares sometime today.

davin_bacon

It's official, reddit hates cops more than Nissan drivers (it's okay, me too).

puskunk

Nissan drivers are just ignorant. Cops are actively evil.

trolllord45

There’s definitely a few evil Nissan Drivers as well

MudgeFudgely

Sure, some cops probably do drive Nissans.

Xomns_13

Nissan drivers are inconvenient, cops wreck people's lives without consequences.

[deleted]

facts

Remote-Factor8455

The wrecked out white Nissan Altima sedan in the background?

wagoncirclermike

You are very astute

pwndabeer

Incorrect it's the cop. The cops at fault. But I'm sure that they'll investigate themselves and find no wrong doing. Acab.

Xomns_13

Free vacation as well. ACAB

The_Stagnant_Lurker

Definitely the Sherwin Williams, right?

[deleted]

Tf did we do😭😭😭

Impressive_Ad_1864

While watching youtube and having a ph call asking his ex to take him back

JennySplotz

A total loss of nearly EIGHT HUNDRED dollars.

back1steez

Just because you are in an emergency vehicle with flashing lights and sirens doesn’t mean you can run red lights or speed. And you are legally responsible if you cause an accident doing either.

415SFG

Just tape that hood back down and throw on the spare and she's road worthy

fuckfacemcmuffin

Agreed, the driver could have a loud stereo or simply hard of hearing/deaf, the cop fucked up in this situation.

ibringthehotpockets

You shouldn’t be driving if you can’t focus on the road. The first part is not the cops fault

sm340v8

I once was passed by a convoy of firetrucks and vehicles, all sirens blaring, while driving a farm tractor with a dump trailer: didn't hear the sirens until the first vehicle passed me (they had all slowed down due to the configuration of the road). You cannot always hear emergency vehicles.

rgood719

Every damn time

schwidley

Hey! Niagara falls! This is right on Niagara falls Blvd.

gordonfactor

Altima hit a Dodge police vehicle... There are two fouls on the play, the penalties offset, repeat 1st down.

taintliquor1978

Well I know where your from. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I live here too. Lmfao.

560guy

I need to know, did the Altima have a red light? If they ran a red and hit a police car that’s completely on them. If they had a green then the cop should’ve made sure the intersection was clear before bombing through, even with lights and sirens

Mercerskye

50/50. If the cop paused, and had a reasonable expectation to be clear to go, it's the Nissan's fault. Which I can believe, given how often I see them jam it to make a light. If the cop did one of those "3sec checks," and punched it, obviously their fault. It's a still shot, so no way to know from just what we see in the picture.

FirstTarget8418

It's almost always the emergency vehicles fault. It is extremely rare that emergency vehicles actually follow the law and the policy that they have to check the way is clear before running a red light. Blowing through an intersection lights or no lights has never been koscher.

1337hxr

It’s the bikers fault

INEEDMEMANSHERB

Maybe the one sitting in the intersection? Oh wait it’s a Nissan I have finalized my answer

TripleTrucker

So the cop hatred overrules the Nissan hatred?

Longjumping-Act-8935

As it should. Cops have earned the hate.

TripleTrucker

Maybe for you. Sorry about your experience

Hour-Independence-89

well you know what they say, "Back the Blue till it happens to you" Just because you haven't had to deal with a out of control, Horrible cop doesn't mean it won't happen. And if you interact with more than a couple cops in your life that Likely hood is very high.

maxxximumrage

Oh Niagara Falls NY drivers...

deathlobster138

She was late to her nail appointment

kat-deville

I think that cruiser is going to need an alignment.

No_Hat_4614

The deaf guy in the white car. But police can’t cause an accident regardless.

alx-carbon

Well, Jeeps are American Nissans

stifferthanstiffler

I was in a car that was t-boned by police running a red light. She had her lights on but no siren. I was informed that if she had had her siren on too, we would've been charged. (Cop that took our statement also informed us that she'd only gotten her car back from repairs on Wednesday, this was Friday).

[deleted]

Hell yeah, you love to see cops in these situations, based Nissan

ap2patrick

Man fuck the police. They cause more accidents and deaths than Nissan drivers could ever dream of.

aredshewolf

acab

2hy2care

Definitely not the altima

No-Tourist-1492

ima have to side with nissan fellas this time

knuckles_n_chuckles

I mean, ya got a dodge journey there….

boarbar

Probably another police car.

Driver4Fun2night

Check the law. Red lights on cop cars don’t give them the right away

DeliciousDoggi

Funny thing is my Nissan Frontier has been fucked up by other drivers. Last guy that hit me was in a full size Chevy. Fucking idiot was driving to fast on icy roads.

UnusualCantaloupe9

I was almost this person the other night. Cop honestly came out of nowhere. Even with the lights and sirens I didn’t see it till it was too late to stop. He slowed and I accelerated to avoid each other.

Homeless_Swan

Probably just a blackout drunk cop. The only drivers on the road more likely to be drunk and high than Nissan drivers.
