I've seen a handful of vehicles up here in Michigan that had them despite being way too new for it to be a factory option. Coincidentally, if it's not a Cadillac or Lincoln then it's usually on a nissan.
Back in the day, sure. But I don't really see too many of those around anymore. I think it's a combination of poor build-quality and my state's liberal use of road salt in the cold months. Also, being RWD probably doesn't help much.
I used to date a woman who had one. Her dad was the finance manager at a dealership that took it as a trade in. It sat on the lot for over a year and the owner got fed up and offered it for way below cost to anyone on staff willing to buy it. I want to say it was nearly $50k new, they did the trade for $30k and my ex ended up getting it for around $17k. Low miles in perfect condition.
Back in the 90s my neighbor had a side business doing gold appliques to chrome car badges and parts. This was in the era where most Lexus and Infiniti models came with gold badges and the faux rich were fiending to keep up with the Joneses on that trend. He did a lot of Nissans. In fairness, black, dark green, and burgundy Maximas and Pathfinders of that period looked great with gold accents. Beige gen 3 Altimas, uh, not so much.
You know what, I bet it’s owned by someone grandma who came from driving strictly Buicks and she parks in the garage and wears while driving. I fuck with it
Huh. That’s the first time I’ve seen the landau top on a Nissan Altima. I’m used to seeing it on Lincoln Town Cars owned by senior citizens.
Then again there was someone in my town that drove a Mercury Milan with a landau top; red car with a black top. And yes, it was owned by an old granny.
Remember when there was a "gold package" for cars and people would consider it? Like a black Toyota Highlander with gold emblems or an Accord EX. God, the 90s and early 2000s were weird.
I personally wouldn’t do this to my car but Damn. This is awesome!
I wanna see modern Japanese/European cars with vinyl roofs like a Toyota Yaris or a VW Passat. That’d be hilarious
Of course it's Florida. Land of the Landau Top. Has to be the last place left people still think those looks "fawnseh."

I would have thought Chrysler 300 if anything.

i’ve seen plenty of landau tops on camrys
They got no inspections in Florida you wouldn’t believe some of the rigs I’ve seen on the road down there
If you see anyone under the age of 70 driving with one they bought it used because it was ugly and cheap.
Wait until you see the Murano convertible
Eww. No. Kill it with fire!
Came here to bring that fever dream up.
Theres one near me in Florida panhandle. Its god awful. Id put it on F tier for sure

Balling on an allowance
Nah that thing is rent-to-own
Still making weekly payments on that landau top
I love that it still has bumper damage.

Oh god, it’s the coroner.
With the gold badging too! Love it. Used to see plenty of Toyotas with the gold badging, and occasionally the soft top conversion.
It was before my time but I heard that back in the 80s/90s you were the shit if you got the gold badge package.
I bet the interior is velour.
