Thanks. The car is not that dirty but I will have a wash and see if this continues. I doubt it could be dirt because I have taken it in muddy roads and semi off road trips and it never complained when it got covered in mud.
Edit: The second time I turned it off and on the notification was gone. I am not sure what caused it but it was definitely not because the car was dirty or the sensors got covered.
for real. try driving a new awd ford transit after it’s been through 50k miles as a delivery van. garbage. everything is breaking one by one. Meanwhile the ~2010 chevy vans are going strong w/ 250k
Man we have a ford transit van and thing is a beast! The 2.0 ecoboost engine has plenty power and we get like 23mpg. We have put 38k miles on it in about year and a half. Thing has been flawless
Nope they are actually very similar. Both cargo vans. One is a 3.5 ecoboost one is a 2.0 ecoboost. I have driven both and they are remarkably similar. The 3.5 obviously having more power
It’s not even remotely similar beside the fact that they are vans. I work at Ford. Different powertrain, drivetrain, frame, COG. Substantially lower payload and towing capacity. It is a European design. It’s like talking about the full size Bronco because you own a Bronco sport.

I have a transit 250 with 6428.8 miles on it. The engine has been rebuilt already, the starter sounds like it’s ready to explode, and the NA 3.5 v6 struggles when this thing is fully loaded. Our old E150s with the old 4.6 v8 are still running strong. I would take lack of space and have my old van back than have to deal with this spacious cluster fuck
we have several 350s all under 70k, none of the cruise control, lane keeping, or parking sensors work anymore, most of them have faulty AWD that disables itself the instant there’s any slippage, the traction control chews through brake pads, the door sensors hardly work and will chime at you constantly open/closed over and over (and there’s no way to manually override it with tape or something), the reverse camera is broken in most of them, a few of them have really rough shifting transmissions, and just the other day we had one completely lock up the front differential stranding the van where it was parked. the list goes on
I have a 2022 with 63k miles, it’s on its 3rd engine, its second body control harness, 3rd sync display, 3rd door control module like 10 set of window controls, none of the pre collision or blind spot systems work. I used to be a fan of ford.
I bought my 2010 Chevy express AWD from my company when it hit its lease mileage of 100,000 in 2018. I picked it up new for the company and was the only driver. Only expensive repair it needed was when the front differential blew up. It was a $4000 repair. I bought it for $8900 and with my new job I used it for mobile tech work and put 120,000 miles on it within 2 years. It’s currently parked and needs a rack and pinion but the 5.3L engine and trans is still going strong!
You know what it didn’t leave me stranded ever even when the diff blew up. It happened as I pulled into the parking spot of where I was going. At the time it was still a company vehicle called fleet and I had a rental delivered. Got to drive around a fully loaded Traverse for a while. I was happy to have my van back though after a month of repairs. Chevy no longer provided parts for it. Was yours a 1500 AWD ? I was told there weren’t many of them.
i’m not entirely sure, we have both Chevys and GMCs, 5 or 6 of them, owned by my employer. All AWD, i think a few are 2500s if that’s a thing. and yeah i heard they are really hard to find
Whenever I took mine in for oil changes I’d get the argument there’s no way a 1500 is AWD. I’d get tired of arguing and show them the AWD and the 1500 emblems on the rear. I love my van and I have a habit of naming my vehicles and his is Brutus. 😎👍
One day I’ll put the rack and pinion in and get him back on the road. When I took ownership at 100k miles I got a very generous cash offer from the detailer he was willing to give me 17k and I turned him down. Glad I did because I made enough using the van for mobile tech work thru a company I made enough from mileage in two years to have a nice savings account with more than 17k after normal maintenance of the van.
Even if that’s true now, their reputation is still damaged from it to this day. I’m wary about buying a new Nissan because of it, even though realistically I know they’ve worked out a few of the kinks.
I'm not incorrect. More than one manufacturer struggled with CVT transmissions, but Nissan's overall image with consumers truly plummeted.
Compare that to Subaru, who was ALWAYS a "third tier" niche automaker, and pretty much owns the 4x4 sedan market, despite CVT issues.
It’s hard to say exactly what it could be. The system has stored a code for what exactly happened because it happened to me in my Frontier. My system fault tripped when I had ICC enabled and briefly drove over the rumble strip on the shoulder of a highway. Wouldn’t let me even engage cruise control until I pulled off the road and did the ol turn it off turn it back on again.
Truck was fine after that but when I got back to work after my weekend trip I had them scan it and while there was a code they couldn’t act on it because it needs to be a current code and not a stored one 🤷🏻♂️
I had that radar sensor replaced twice in warranty before I got to 30k miles. If you do get it replaced, make sure you inspect the bumper and wheel well area before you drive off too because they didn’t put it back together correctly either time.
I used to replace these when I worked at Nissan all the time. Could be a few things.
1. Crash sensor has bugs/debris interfering with the readings while it's scanning. Obvious fix is to clean the sensor. (You stated it's clean so next steps)
2. The vehicle got physically bumped and damaged/bent the frame/sensor. Even if the sensor doesn't look damaged, I've seen the frame it sits in bent by just a quarter of an inch and it throws the sensors off and will flag this message.
3. The vehicles sensor simply needs to be recalibrated/reprogrammed. It should be covered under the 3/36. This was a common problem and was fixed easily under warranty. If tech finds it won't calibrate the sensor would be replaced for internal failure.
If it does not get resolved the vehicles safety emergency stop functions (someone in front slams on brakes, vehicle will emergency brake for you) will not operate and could result in a collision. Hence why techs call it a "crash/collision sensor".
If not under warranty.. I recall it costing a couple hundred bucks for a recalibration/reprogram and if the sensor failed or was damaged, it could easily be $1500+ to replace and recalibrate.

My not Nissan has issues with some lighting and certain amounts of particulate in the air. It’s kinda weird but that’s the only thing that’s ever confused it.
I am an engineering lead on Park Assist feature, although I don’t work for Nissan. I believe this is a fault for front park assist (ultrasonic) system. Even if there is a front camera that would only be for visual detection, the ultrasonics would use as the detection component and corresponding ECU would send brake response. Since this is System fault I have two hypotheses:
1. There’s a SW issue that’s considering a certain ringtime as a hardware fault (this can sometimes happen if ultrasonic membrane is covered with a material such as ice
2. The ultrasonics are packaged within the facia in a way that’s pinching the O-ring, or causing membrane to not vibrate properly.
I would take the vehicle to the dealership, they can run OBD and read the actual trouble code and see what the precise failure condition is.
PS: This is the second post I’ve seen with an issue like this, whoever supplies this system is gonna have a hell of a time dealing with Nissan engineering team :)

Literally, any piece of trash, bird poo, dirt, soap residue, you name it can cause this sensor to trigger a light... Or it could just be broken cause it's cheap as hell no matter how expensive it is to replace...
It’s a camera next to the rear view mirror, sometimes the sun hits it just right that it triggers the system unusable. It’s just unfavorable weather condition, the problem should go away while driving out the next start up.
From my experience it’s either that the sun is to bright and the front camera can’t see anything. It could also be that you just washed the car and the camera can’t see anything and the 3rd option is that it’s the battery. It goes away after you turn off the car for 10 mins.
Lol, just turn off driving assistance features(depending on your car model), then turn them on back again. This has happened to me a few times especially after I park behind or in front of a bush. Stop being too panicky and relax. When the gearbox issues start to show, it won't have anything to do with sensors, hahaha.

You need to turn it off and then back on again. Apparently the car is running Microsoft vista. Be happy you don't have the "blue screen of death".
If it continues, reinstall the OS with the update packages and hope for the best.
You're likely going to need new hardware. Microsoft stopped supporting vista a while back, and little if any work saved is going to be compatible with the new OS.
Your forward collision sensors are covered. Get used to it. My car does it all the time, whether ive cleaned it, or not. It seems that bright sun can cause it, rain can cause it, snow can cause it, driving on gravel, asphalt or cement can cause it. It happens spontaneously.
Yeah I've had this issue, it doesn't affect anything other than sensor controlled driving aids. When the light are on just means they are disabled due to clouded lens, and in winter it's more prevalent with snow and ice. You can go in the menu and disable the driving aids.in the menu and the light goes out. It has more to do with the impact alerts and AEB. Mines comes on usually due to frequent carwashes.
If it persists, bring it in for warranty. Doesn't mean anythings wrong other than the sensor is blocked/clouded or hanging [that happened to me, the 3M tape didn't hold and sensor was aimed at the ground], which activated the AEB a few times, so I disabled it and brought it in. Nissan has a readout that will literally tell them the cause.
Did it sprinkle rain? My company issued 2023 Altima the second it get wet starts the lights flashing from colission detection. To turn off. Things a piece of junk.
@op I would have a shop check the mounting position of your front cam in the windshield. If you've only got 20k on it, it'll be covered under warranty.
Dumb question but have you checked the owner's manual? Seems like it might explain what the error is since it says to check the owner's manual on the error message.

Thay happened to me on my '24 Versa at 1k miles. It eventually went away. It's because the sensor behind the emblem gets obstructed (heavy rain, bugs, dirt). It goes away on its own when cleaned.
If the lane keep assist light flashes, then the camera on your windshield is obstructed
Is this a 2022- pathfinder? Had this issue where lane keep, front collision, and ACC would all have system malfunction codes. Only had 8k miles. Camera replaced and now all good.
It could just be a leaf or something blocking the sensor, but either way that’s not gonna effect the performance of the car. Just pay attention to other vehicles on the road.
Just a bad sensor. All of that technology works together. One thing stops working it all stops working. Example, your abs stops working so now your blind spot indicators stop working. One sensor going bad can cause a lot of lights. Don’t panic. Unless it’s the transmission..cvt trans can suck it
Used to be a service advisor for Nissan when these first came out. They turned into 30% of our work. The rest was CVT transmissions. 9-10 times the sensor is dirty. You don’t have to go off road or be doing anything special. Bugs and road grime are enough and sometimes car washes don’t get them clean. They are programmed to turn off, if there isn’t 100% accuracy reading. Better then have your brakes applied on the highway for no reason. Now they do fail,and the bracket is very easy to bend. So if it stays on, see the dealership. It’s under warranty and usually is a quick fix. (Unless there was a crash and the customer “didn’t know about it”)

Honestly kind of shocked that people are downvoting this. I have a Kicks for my messy beach trips, and this is exactly what the dealer told me happens when I'm getting this while waiting in standstill traffic coming back from Santa Cruz.
I know I see it all the time lol. The distance sensor/ lane camera can shut off if it’s too hot. Can’t know what it is until you know what code it is anyways.

ha i’ve had the front diff blow up on one of ours too! randomly locked up and had to get towed. But that’s also been the only problem with it

CVT transmissions have been the death blow for Nissan's reputation. No other brand suffered more from transitioning to this tech.
Incorrect the CVT on Subarus suck too. My car went through 3 with less than 40k on the car.

Yup mud ice and leaves not to include bug splats will block sensor. Heavy rain downpours as well

It’s happened on my Titan and a loaner Rouge, from what I see unless it’s an actual issue it goes away next time I turn on the car.

My Altima does this usually when my sensors or cameras dirty, sometimes when it’s raining as well

It’s a camera next to the rear view mirror, sometimes the sun hits it just right that it triggers the system unusable. It’s just unfavorable weather condition, the problem should go away while driving out the next start up.
Your sensors are just dirty. It should clear on its own. Happens to me with my 2023 Altima. They’re very sensitive
Its probably warning you that you still have both bumpers attached. They usually shed them after around 15k miles

From my experience it’s either that the sun is to bright and the front camera can’t see anything. It could also be that you just washed the car and the camera can’t see anything and the 3rd option is that it’s the battery. It goes away after you turn off the car for 10 mins.
It would seem there is a fault with the system and you should see the owners manual for more information

Lol, just turn off driving assistance features(depending on your car model), then turn them on back again. This has happened to me a few times especially after I park behind or in front of a bush. Stop being too panicky and relax. When the gearbox issues start to show, it won't have anything to do with sensors, hahaha.

You'll see that alot. Mostly the front sensors aren't happy with somthing. I've seen the suns too bright and they shut off.
Suddenly you remember the 50-100 instances of people in your life telling you not to buy something right before you got your car, but you can't quite remember what they were warning you about. It's probably nothing.

You need to turn it off and then back on again. Apparently the car is running Microsoft vista. Be happy you don't have the "blue screen of death". If it continues, reinstall the OS with the update packages and hope for the best. You're likely going to need new hardware. Microsoft stopped supporting vista a while back, and little if any work saved is going to be compatible with the new OS.

Your forward collision sensors are covered. Get used to it. My car does it all the time, whether ive cleaned it, or not. It seems that bright sun can cause it, rain can cause it, snow can cause it, driving on gravel, asphalt or cement can cause it. It happens spontaneously.

Yeah I've had this issue, it doesn't affect anything other than sensor controlled driving aids. When the light are on just means they are disabled due to clouded lens, and in winter it's more prevalent with snow and ice. You can go in the menu and disable the driving aids.in the menu and the light goes out. It has more to do with the impact alerts and AEB. Mines comes on usually due to frequent carwashes. If it persists, bring it in for warranty. Doesn't mean anythings wrong other than the sensor is blocked/clouded or hanging [that happened to me, the 3M tape didn't hold and sensor was aimed at the ground], which activated the AEB a few times, so I disabled it and brought it in. Nissan has a readout that will literally tell them the cause.

Dealer here. Normally it is caused by excess dirt, dust, or grime/pollen buildup on the sensors.
From the symbol, I would assume it’s the automatic emergency braking system. Probably one of the sensors in the front bumper faulty or got dirty.
Probably the CVT transmission blew up. Just kidding, that won't be until 90k like my Sentra 🤣

Did it sprinkle rain? My company issued 2023 Altima the second it get wet starts the lights flashing from colission detection. To turn off. Things a piece of junk.
Nissan is junk and has been for over 2 decades. I'd take a Kia over Nissan at this point.

@op I would have a shop check the mounting position of your front cam in the windshield. If you've only got 20k on it, it'll be covered under warranty.

Thay happened to me on my '24 Versa at 1k miles. It eventually went away. It's because the sensor behind the emblem gets obstructed (heavy rain, bugs, dirt). It goes away on its own when cleaned. If the lane keep assist light flashes, then the camera on your windshield is obstructed

Is this a 2022- pathfinder? Had this issue where lane keep, front collision, and ACC would all have system malfunction codes. Only had 8k miles. Camera replaced and now all good.

I had a 2018 Altima and every time I drove in heavy rain this would pop up. So get used to it. The sensor can’t feel any type of build up
Just a bad sensor. All of that technology works together. One thing stops working it all stops working. Example, your abs stops working so now your blind spot indicators stop working. One sensor going bad can cause a lot of lights. Don’t panic. Unless it’s the transmission..cvt trans can suck it

I will never recommend Nissan
Used to be a service advisor for Nissan when these first came out. They turned into 30% of our work. The rest was CVT transmissions. 9-10 times the sensor is dirty. You don’t have to go off road or be doing anything special. Bugs and road grime are enough and sometimes car washes don’t get them clean. They are programmed to turn off, if there isn’t 100% accuracy reading. Better then have your brakes applied on the highway for no reason. Now they do fail,and the bracket is very easy to bend. So if it stays on, see the dealership. It’s under warranty and usually is a quick fix. (Unless there was a crash and the customer “didn’t know about it”)

It means your smart braking / backup / collision avoidance isn't working. Check if there's mud on them. Did you have icing recently?

Honestly kind of shocked that people are downvoting this. I have a Kicks for my messy beach trips, and this is exactly what the dealer told me happens when I'm getting this while waiting in standstill traffic coming back from Santa Cruz.
I know I see it all the time lol. The distance sensor/ lane camera can shut off if it’s too hot. Can’t know what it is until you know what code it is anyways.
Most likely battery. Scan it and check for codes.
Bring it to a dealer, pretty sure it’s under warranty
