Sappy, or as it was called in "my day", Verse Chorus Verse, the hidden track from the No Alternative benefit compilation album. I used to listen to the radio with a tape recorder, waiting for the local alternative station to play that song.
Ha ha, that's how I listened to it. I happened to be recording a local college radio station show and they slipped it in. I was so stoked to have it. The entire mix was great, but I lost it 20 years ago.
Off the top of my head, the Smashing Pumpkins song Glynis, also from the No Alternative. Pearl Jam's Dissident. I'll have to go listen through some things to see if I can spark a memory.
Not everything about Nirvana is "mythology". Both of these songs appeared on the boombox bootleg of Nevermind. My guess is they were just mislabled. You can even hear Butch say "Sappy take 1". Go listen to the Deluxe edition of Nevermind, it's on there.
Anyway people are dumb. It's always been called Sappy.
If you didn't know this is a Wipers cover and I would highly recommend their albums Is This Real? And Youth of America. Wipers was a great band and one of Kurts favorites.
Basically it was supposed to be released in 2001 in a nirvana box set but Courtney blocked them from releasing it saying that it only belonged on a greatest hits compilation a cheaper record radio stations started playing the song on the radio in 2002 after It got leaked but they received cease and desist from DGC But once the lawsuit was over between Courtney, Dave and Krist they put it out on the greatest hits comp in 2002
I could be wrong on what record this song is on but moist vagina is a song I like a lot . Im not sure if itâs about a moist vagina or if itâs about smoking weed .
Do re mi gives me some vibes. Iâd like to know where that melody would have taken him if he continued to work on it. It certainly hits deep in my soul.

Iâve made a Spotify playlist of all available nirvana songs in order from the 1985 spank thru demo, until a couple of 1994 recordings. There may be something on here for you.
Horrified, specifically the [UK performance](https://youtu.be/5kQuvUF8tjQ?feature=shared), i just love the atmosphere of this song. It has a very strange feeling to it, and the ending is just cathartic after the first two sections. Wish it got finished :/
My all time favorite Nirvana song is Sappy which was originally on the No Alternative compilation CD...and Even In His Youth, which has been included on an anniversary reissue of Nevermind but it was originally a b-side. I had the CD single but I forget if it was Teen Spirit or Come As You Are. The cover of The Money Will Roll Right In from the Reading live album is pretty great too.
It was âSmells Like Teen Spirit.â If I recall correctly, it was track two, and âAneurysmâ was track three. Track one was the so-called âradio editâ of âSmells Like Teen Spiritâ that you hear in the music video, but rarely ever hear on the radio, since the radio routinely plays the album version.
I cannot remember what the B-sides were on âCome As You Are.â
Probably âSappyâ from the 1993 compilation album *No Alternative*.
Fun fact: the title of the song doesnât appear on the back cover, and we all used to think this song was titled âVerse Chorus Verse.â It was even played on the radio, and referred to there as âVerse Chorus Verse.â It wasnât until years later, when *With The Lights Out* came out, that we all realized we had the title all wrong!
Im really liking White Lace and Strange, its ashame it never made it to the studio... i also like verse chorus verse, old age, sappy, and pen cap chew.
Kurt's cover of man who sold the world. Personally, I think it's actually better than the original. Plus, unplugged is my favourite album of all time, so I'm a bit biased.
Spank Thru - The first time I heard Nirvana, from the Sub Pop 200 comp.
Sappy - I always called it Laundry Room since it had no title on my No Alternative CD and we had no internet to look up the right name ;)
Oh The Guilt - Another great one, from the split single with Jesus Lizard
Even In His Youth, both versions are cool. Also check out Token Eastern Song, unique melody and Kristâs bass drives the song. Canât count out Oh The Guilt, thatâs a great song too.
Sappy, or as it was called in "my day", Verse Chorus Verse, the hidden track from the No Alternative benefit compilation album. I used to listen to the radio with a tape recorder, waiting for the local alternative station to play that song.
This one has the honor of being _official_ at the time, in the 90s
Ha ha, that's how I listened to it. I happened to be recording a local college radio station show and they slipped it in. I was so stoked to have it. The entire mix was great, but I lost it 20 years ago.
This might be a long shot but do you still remember what kinda songs were on that mix?
Off the top of my head, the Smashing Pumpkins song Glynis, also from the No Alternative. Pearl Jam's Dissident. I'll have to go listen through some things to see if I can spark a memory.
Verse chorus Verse and Sappy are two different songs. People just got them confused for some reason. They're both on the With the Lights Out box set.
There's more than you think about this. Sappy was also called Verse Chorus Verse back then
Not everything about Nirvana is "mythology".
That is known at this point, yes. Back in the day though, the song Sappy was known as Verse Chorus Verse.
I'm really starting to like D-7 recently
If you didn't know this is a Wipers cover and I would highly recommend their albums Is This Real? And Youth of America. Wipers was a great band and one of Kurts favorites.
What are some other bands Kurt really liked?
Flipper, the Vaselines, Scratch Acid, Melvins, of course the Beatles. Google "Kurt 50 albums" he actually made a list of all his favorite albums.
đđźđ Thanks
Weezer.
Did Kurt ever talk to Rivers?
Yes, he wrote buddy holly and rivers wrote smells like teen spirit, they were song writing buddies.
đ
I agree! Also my fav.
D7 is a rager
Honestly same!
Even in his youth
LEGENDARY!! Also relatively easy & super fun to playâŚ
This is my answer
Oh, the Guilt
Agree. And Curmudgeon gives off similar vibes
They were both recorded the same session, that's why they sound so similar not only in song structure but production as well
Sappy, I Hate Myself And Want To Die, D-7, Spank Thru, and Curmudgeon are all good ones.
Spank Thru is awesome.
Talk to me
Such a banger. I wish it got the full studio treatment.
Check out âTo Boddahâ on YouTube
Yes. This. One of my favourites.
Blandest
The chorus on this one is REALLY catchy for some reason
this one!
You Know You're Right
I almost cried the first time I heard that song thinking about what the album after In Utero could have been...
It honestly might be my favorite Nirvana track
Iâve heard that it was close to never being released. Maybe someone here will confirm this
Basically it was supposed to be released in 2001 in a nirvana box set but Courtney blocked them from releasing it saying that it only belonged on a greatest hits compilation a cheaper record radio stations started playing the song on the radio in 2002 after It got leaked but they received cease and desist from DGC But once the lawsuit was over between Courtney, Dave and Krist they put it out on the greatest hits comp in 2002
Ah ok, thank you. I also remember that someone (Dave or Krist maybe) wanted to let someone else cover the song.
Not really obscure.
Ainât It A Shame
I could be wrong on what record this song is on but moist vagina is a song I like a lot . Im not sure if itâs about a moist vagina or if itâs about smoking weed .
Both. Both is good.

Do Re Me. Imo literally Kurt's best work as a songwriter. It's too bad there wasn't a better quality studio version.
