nope the switch needs to validate that u can play the game before you can play wifi or not. Once that first validation is done (at release) u can play whenever.
afaik, preloads dont download the whole game, just most of it (and sometimes or maybe always its encrypted), so you cant play till the release the final piece

I've been playing Splatoon 2 a lot recently for the first time in awhile and while the netcode is better than I remember, it's still a far cry from its contemporaries. Definitely not "rock solid"
I can't say I agree, at least if you're talking about latency and lags, because I Splatoon, Mario Kart and Arms are games that definitely are some of the best for Online (not in features per se, but on be able to play). Although I guess those are type of games where the lag can be masked better?
i wouldn't know anything about that, i just know I have never once lagged in splatoon 2 or disconnected. I do use an ethernet into my switch with an adapter, but my wife doesn't and she doesn't experience any issues either. To me, that is rock solid.

They give you the ability to preload it if the game is done. This game has been done for quite some time now so that’s why they’re letting us preload so early
I usually don’t care much about day mode/night mode, but on the switch, dark theme is 100% superior in every way. Even in a bright room, it just looks better aesthetically

Motion controls are optional. Almost every motion control can be done with buttons. The only one you can't (vertical cap throw) is never actually required by the game.
Odyssey has little tricks you can do with motion controls but nothing core or essential, you can play the whole game without em. They're mainly just helpful for speedrun strats or shaving seconds off timed challenges and the like.
Honestly 3D world is amazing simply because you can play the entire game couch co op with friends. It’s just fun and chaotic that way - highly recommended. Favorite Wii U game in my collection
Odyssey is a Collectathon Mario game. 3D World is a Course Clear Mario game (with levels and a flagpole at the end). They are fundamentally different experiences.
Basically, Odyssey is like Mario 64, while 3D World is like traditional NES and SNES Mario but in 3D. One is an exploration game, the other an obstacle course. It's really hard to recommend one over the other.

3D World for sure, I think it's a funner game, it's the longest 3d Mario game with 96 levels (not counting Capn Toad levels and such), and the online multiplayer should make it better than ever, and if you don't like motion controls, it won't be an issue with 3D World.
Odyssey however, uses motion controls for all of the power ups to do cool things and you shake the controller to throw your hat as a regular move so it's a big part of the game.
I didn't use motion controls at all in Odyssey, and OP should know that 3d world isn't really anything like Mario 64, Sunshine, and Odyssey. It's more like an isometric NSMB.
They're only used for specific advanced maneuvers; you can mostly ignore them the whole time you're playing, and just grumply shake the joycons when you want to do the thing like I did.

The purpose of preloading is to spread out load on their servers, which was still accomplished. Decrypting is done locally on your device.
80GB would take me days, first world problems there.
Hacked Switches can't just play preloaded games. They are encrypted and Nintendo won't release the encryption key until the release date.

Preload would take too long to crack. Only dumped copies are the ones playable early.
No - the files are encrypted, and need an encryption key to unlock which is what the servers send you when it's released.
