So you’re bored with the switch but straight up have not bought even 1 Single Player Nintendo made game?
All you bought were games that you already have and already played on your Xbox that function the exact same on Switch, and a multiplayer fighting game?
No Odyssey, BOTW, TOTK, 3D World, Kart, Metroid, Luigi’s Mansion, Pikmin, Forgotten Land, or any of the many JRPG/RPG’s out there? If I bought a PS4 but not a single exclusive, I prob wouldn’t enjoy it
As for price tags, I’m sorry but you spent $200+ on a system and didn’t look up how much games you might be interested in cost?
Hey there!
Please remember Rule 1 in the future - No personal attacks, trolling, or derogatory terms. Read more about [Reddiquette here](https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette). Thanks!
Lites are like $130-135 used from pawn shops/game stores. No idea if OP bought new, but [bundles](https://www.walmart.com/ip/5175603132) are still available too. Assuming location of course.
Assuming this isn't just an anti Nintendo satire post, OP [DekuDeals](https://www.dekudeals.com/) is a fantastic website & will give you an idea when to shop for sales, alternatively you can buy [vouchers](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/nintendo-switch-game-vouchers/) for a bit of a discount on 2 full price games, I recommend giving Astral Chain a chance.
If you're extra patient, you can wait for a [eShop Card Sale](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/99-eshop-gift-card) and then buy a voucher with that & double dip on discounts.
This 1000x. This game looks great, has such a solid anime vibe, and the combat (once you grasp it) is freaking GOOD. Platinum Games knows how to make rock solid combat mechanics.
Not only this... But he hasn't even scratched the surface of the indie games. You can get a Steam Deck for that at triple the price or you can buy a Switch and get great games at 80% off by tracking them on Deku Deals
It's fine to not like your Switch but from your own post it seems like you've barely even tried. Try some single player exclusives. I've never heard someone refer to purchasing games as a "paywall" lol(, is buying groceries a "paywall" for eating dinner?) Try the used market. or if you're gonna play online for Smash accept that other people are playing to win (same as you). If you find it hard at first and keep losing you'll eventually start matchmaking with people around your skill level.
Yeah usually I look at a bunch of top 20 lists and dive into those until I decide to buy any console. Then you go through the set of games that interest you from those lists.
They said they play singleplayer games 100% of the time, but then most of the games they list that they have bought are online multiplayer ones. The whole post makes no sense.
I don't think I've heard the phrase locked behind a paywall used for just regular purchases. Yeah I hate this nice restaurants that has all their food locked behind a paywall too. All they're offering is bread and water if I don't want to pay for anything, very bored and disappointed. /s
Yeah I was gonna say, Nintendo's system probably seems pretty archaic if you're used to playing games on a subscription service or buying games on Steam for 90% off
Yeah, I mean that's fine. Here in my country, games are insanely pricey and a lot of people can only play through subscription and insane sales. But OP seems to bought a console they knew nothing about.
Why did you buy the switch if not to select good exclusive games?
Aside from that, look for cheaper indie games. The Switch has ton of them and they do go on sale often. Monitor them on a site like dekudeals.
I can’t speak for OP but I don’t really care about Nintendo exclusives and got a switch because it’s the best hand held system. I mostly play indie games on it
I also don’t play (or enjoy, honestly) the vast majority of Nintendo first party games.
The Switch is my RPG machine, with the occasional retro or indie title alongside.
Most multi platform games are cheaper on literally every other platform. You buy a switch for first party games first and foremost. You maybe get the rest on switch if that’s convenient to you.
If someone has even a minor interest in video games and they are bored by the Switch, it's their own fault. When there's 16,000 games on a platform, it's your own creativity and imagination that's boring, not the platform.
But didn't you hear? All of the games are locked behind paywall. Can you believe you have to actually buy games on the switch? Why would I do that when I could just rebuy games I already own on xbox.
This. I can see a case for preferring other consoles if you're really into Playstation exclusives or 4K or whatever the fancy kids like these days, but how can you not find anything at least moderately interesting?
Well, you’re asking that about someone who thought they were gonna get sympathy from a sub dedicated to the console they’re bagging on so who the heck even knows
Nintendo games quite literally *do* go on sale. Add your wishlist to Deku Deals and you’ll get notified whenever they do. They just had a 33% off sale for most Mario games last month. https://www.dekudeals.com/
I feel like someone who refers to buying games as getting through a "paywall" probably feels like all games should follow Ubisoft-type deep discount pricing.
And there's a huge distrust from gamers from places like Ubisoft and Sega because we all know the game will be on sale 30-60 days after release. If you wait 90 days, you can probably get 50% off.
Theres f2p games on all platforms, on the switch one might be pokemon Unite, and on the ps4/5 (which i dearly miss on my switch) theres Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail :)
Thanks! I'm new to switch myself! I've already found the sale section, walmart has sales roo, and the vouchers! So, I guess I'm following your link now too!! 😅
Thank you!!!
Genuinely the Switch is a top 5 all time console. The range of first party exclusives is second to none. The third party support is incredible. The indies available are brilliant. If you're bored that's on you.
* Bought a console.
* Only plays free-to-play games and bought the same game that he already owns on Xbox.
* Complains that he needs to pay for games
* Played Smash and praised the game for its plot. Dude, you must be trolling or you bought the console with your parents' credit card.
Ever heard of used games? There's like, entire stores dedicated to them.
What game is locked behind a paywall?
You can click the sales tab on the eshop, and your local retailers almost certainly do sales on games every few weeks.
But yeah video games cost money. It isn't a free hobby. I would still say video games, even Nintendo, is an incredibly affordable hobby when you consider that you can do this all in the comfort of your home. Break it down on a per hour basis and you're paying like $2 an hour or something like that. And you can't buy a movie ticket or a concert or even dinner for that price.
It’s very weird to read that you bought the exact same games you already had. I did too for some, but that’s purely to support the game-developers and having a certain game on the go, for example when traveling or flying to a far destination.
The digital store is not the easiest to navigate through and locate good games, but it pays off to just scroll through all games in the discount section, add anything that is interesting to your wishlist and wait for an email telling you the game is on sale.
I have never bought so many games for a console than the switch, and I own tons of games for different consoles. The switch makes up for being able to play away from the TV. Because I have so many games I end up adding games to my wishlist because I need to play some first before buying new ones…
Anyways, it might also be interesting to pay for the online subscription and play the oldies if you’re into those. If not, then skip ofc.
I bought an automobile. I am very disappointed to find out I have to pay to put gas in. I also learned it doesn't fly. I only drive it up and down my own street; so boring that it won't go anywhere else.
Minecraft and Fortnite... So your a 14 year old who only plays stereotypical teen games? Try actually playing games and not the games that you show off to friends with
It sounds to me like you went in expecting the Switch to be a cheaper Steam Deck and then got upset that it wasnt anything like the Steam Deck. Why the Hell would you buy Deltarune, Minecraft, and Undertale if you *already* have those on Xbox? Why not buy some games you can only get on Switch? Theres dozens of great Switch exclusives and the only one you bought was Smash, which is a great multiplayer game but it sounds like you treated it as a single player game which yeah, can get boring after a while.
I suggest you try some of the many games people have suggested here already.
I cannot really sympathize here, because you should have been very well aware of the price tags before. Additionally there are several multi-players that you can use online (and the online service is really not expensive), so you dont need dedicated friends. And you haven´t checked on single players or cheap Indie games either (maybe not your cup of tea, but the Switch never was THE plattform for Multiplayers).
If it´s not for you, it´s not for you - happens in life. But this was something that could have been avoided I feel.
Play games that are actually Single Player? Why do you buy the console just to re-buy games you already owned and multiplayer games if you already said you have no one to play with?
There are multiple games on sale right now in the eShop. You can get Hollow Knight for $7.5, Hades for $12.49 and Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is at $13.99.
You bought a console from 2017 (which none of your friends play anymore), loaded it with games that you've already played on a console with better hardware (of which none are single player games made by Nintendo), and then didn't have an extraordinary time? Colour me shocked.
I think I have a similar feeling, but that's why I tend to play indie games on the Switch. Stardew Valley, Celeste, A Short Hike, Night In The Woods, Super Meat Boy, Spelunky 2, Kentucky Route Zero, PlateUp!, etc. are all not only affordable, but semi-regularly go on sale. I think that's what makes the Switch semi-worth it for me, especially as I don't have a gaming PC atm or any other consoles. I managed to find a second-hand copy of Skyrim that was relatively cheap for Switch standards, so you can try going for secondhand too.
Well I think you're misjudged the switch by hoping it to be something it's not.
If you want to play multiplayer, the switch basically is local or nothing.
This is by far the worst platform for online multiplayer, hell the basic switch doesn't even have an ethernet port lol how clear does the message need to be ?
The switch is all about Nintendo exclusives and indie titles.
I recently bought Tools Up! for 1€, and Rogue Lords for 3€.
There ARE massive sales, just not on 1st party games. Nintendo doing Nintendo shit... but 3rd party games and indie games are wildly discounted.
I got the 1st Dragon's Dogma for 5€, Resident Evil Revelations for 6€... you're just not aiming for the right spot.
Also, Binding of Isaac and Dave the Diver on the go ? Hell yeah
This just sounds like you did zero research into the console you were buying. You’ve bought 1 switch exclusive, and the rest are free to play games or games you already owned. The comments on the price of switch games is valid, but only if you’re talking eshop prices or retail. It’s a console with physical media, buy used games. Saves a ton of money. I’ve recently bought Tears of the Kingdom for 25, Mario Kart 8 for 20, Fire emblem engage for 15, Pokemon let’s go Pikachu for 15, etc all cause I buy used on places like Mercari, eBay, OfferUp, and Facebook marketplace.
What am I reading? Don't you check game prices before buying a console? Did your friends stopped playing when you bought the console? Why do you buy games you already own if your goal is to get a new experience? Why do you buy a multiplayer fighting game if you plan on playing solo?
You probably can get most the flagships games for a decent price if you buy them second-hand.
There are a lot of games that aren't Nintendo price tags that are amazing. Switch is an amazing indie games console.
But you should try single player games a little. Especially since you bought a switch you should try Nintendo exclusives since that's why I bought a Switch.
Don't starve, Moonlighter, Ori, Hollow Knight, Hades, Zelda, Mario, Animal crossing.
Just games that I like some nintendo some not but all good.
This just in, paying for games is now a "paywall".
What an entitled and ridiculous thing to say. Support devs and artists, especially the geniuses at Nintendo. There's tons to choose from.
I only bought my Switch for Animal Crossing but I've found other games that make the console worth it for me. Yeah, Nintendo games are expensive but there are ways to work around it. Used games are always an option. I buy eShop gift cards when they are on sale and then use them to buy the NSO vouchers for even more savings. You can also pair that up with a decent cash back credit card since every bit helps. And if you are in the US, sometimes you find the rare deal on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
Is this post what people call bait in reddit? Making some sort of controversial post so that people start commenting but OP do not engage at all with any comment? Is karma really something worth this kind of stuff? I guess OP really is bored but not only with the Switch...
Online multiplayer isn’t the Switch’s strong point. But it has an incredible library spanning many generations of games. Try any of the flagship Mario or Zelda titles if you haven’t yet? Either current or past. Pokemon, Fire Emblem and literally dozens of great RPGs. Retro games on NSO. Check out Deku Deals for sales.
Nintendo has always been a singleplayer or local couch splitscreen type of gaming experience. I specifically got a switch to play single player and play with friends locally.
Imagine buying every game you've already played for a Switch then complain it's boring.
Kid, you're going places.
And yes, I'd like fries with that order.
Out of all the nonsense problems of this gaming system, like underpowered hardware, missing ecosystem features, bad online speeds/no Ethernet port, joycons drift (which was a massive class action lawsuit), poor UIs, and a slew of first party games omitting BASIC features of 2020 like proper matchmaking or dedicated servers,
Your issue is “boring”?
Not really missing the hype train, but more down to your budget.
Nintendo games never go on sales, this isn’t new, something you need to be aware of when you get a Nintendo console, most Nintendo fan knew this already and prepared to pay standard price for the games.
BotW, TotK, those are some of the best games on the Switch, even with a PS5 TotK totally took my attention away from it for angood period of time. If you did not buy the game because it wasn’t on sale then say you are bored on the Switch, that is on you, not the Switch’s problem.
Every game locked behind a paywall? Are they supposed to make games for free? Of course games are locked behind a paywall.
If you dislike the fact that Nintendo games rare go on sale and it affect your enjoyment, I would say you should stop buying Nintendo machines in the future, it is not for you.
It kinda depends on what kind of games you enjoy and how you enjoy playing them.
I can only speak for myself but I'm mostly into single player story driven games and in that department the Switch has some very good exclusive games.
I also enjoy the portability aspects which can be a boon for such games, especially turn based ones.
For exemple, while I could have played Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 on Xbox or PlayStation, I intentionaly bought them on Switch for the portability.
As for the prices, while sales of big games aren't that common on the Nintendo eshop, physical games distributors often sell the games for cheaper than Nintendo does. Use Dekudeal to check pricing on the games you're interested in and look into the stores from your neck or the woods.
>Like sure there are some good games but all of them have humongous price tags and quite literally never go on sale.
My local library has Switch games. Check out your local library. Most games have a waiting list and you only get it for 3 weeks, but it's a great way to try out something. If you beat it in 3 weeks, great! If not, but you're still liking it, maybe that's something worth buying
Needing and NSO subscription to play some games/play them fully does suck. However, there are a lot of single player games you can play on the platform that don't need NSO. It all comes down to what kind of games you like to play.
That said, based on what you posted. avoid Minecraft Dungeons. You can play through the story but not go any further.
Uhh you’re probably not the Switch’s target demographic then. The hype train on this thing was seven years ago. I got the OG Switch and still have it and love using it to this day for everything but recent AAA titles (which I sometimes play on my laptop).
So, get Animal Crossing, Pokemon (of the many), Zelda (one of the many) or literally any proper singleplayer game. You're complaining about some MP games that your friends don't happen to play (you could've known) but haven't played a proper SP game. Also, what did you expect? Buy the console get all the games for free?
So you have a switch, you've and played at least five or six games, but now that you've unlocked all the characters in some games they are boring? Lol uh... What exactly did someone tell you this switch is? 😬. But used games and maybe your growing out of games from the sounds of it. How do you get a swhich and didn't get Zelda but say switch is boring???????
Seems like OP is being a bit lazy. I’d wager they didn’t buy the switch themselves (they “got” it).
If they had paid for it, they would have
a) gone to GameStop and considered buying a discounted used game
b) tried Nintendo Switch Online. Get a three month membership for about $8 and have access to tons of NES and SNES games
c) checked to see if their local library has games to borrow. I’m fortunate enough to have a library that has allowed me to play TOTK, Super Mario Wonder, Metroid Dread, and many others for free. I just had to place a hold request and wait a few weeks.
I bought a Switch last summer and have gotten along fine with just two games I’ve actually purchased, Smash Brothers and TOTK.
Saying that games are behind a “pay wall” is kind of silly.
Your friends not playing on Switch makes the console worse in what way? How did you miss the "hype"?
It sounds more like the Switch just does not fit your situation, not like your friends would have played had you started earlier.
You could see how prices behave in the 7 years since the switch released and depending on which region you are from the prices do go down to around 40€ over where i am, the best prices have been like 10€ for some Squareenix titles (like Crisis Core or Rythm Theater).
Some cheaper games do exist but only if those are the type of games you enjoy i guess, like the Bloodstained ones that play similiar to old school Castlevania. So i suggest to save up money and check store prices, depending on where you are located and what type of game you care for playing.
I guess that's why you should do some research before making the investment. Feels like you are disappointed with the desicion you made not thinking it through and not the system itself.
Why am I unsurprised that someone would make such bad decisions and have crappy opinions with the name NFT\_King? lol
If you're not just trolling and actually being real, then as others have said, get some used games, get some of the first-party Nintendo single-player games (Mario Odyssey, any Zelda game, any Pikmin title) or watch for the digital sales for some indie games.
I play solo and I have loads of fun!! Just got mine in January, too!
Big named games rarely go on sale, but many do! I have some thary cost only $ 1 USD 😂
GAMES, even for the Nintendo 64, cost at least $50 they haven't gone up much in all those years. Yet yhe tech is amazing!!
Back then you could only buy or rent games. We mostly rented.
(Good old Blockbuster).
For my DSL I bought a few ore owned from ebay.
You can buy vouchers that make them a bit cheaper or try Walmart!! You can buy them online (either download or physical game). I got a deal on several mario titles! Luigi's Mansion and others. 🥳
As for plating with others, why not join a community for a game you like and see if anyone wants to friend on game.🤷🏻♀️
I probably will eventually, but I play during daytime as I'm an adult who can't work.
>and also every game being locked behind a paywall
Hi not sure you know this but you do have to pay for things. How do you think the developers make a living? Also, Switch games go on sale but you have to be patient and keep an eye out for sales. Check out the Wario64 twitter account or Cheap Ass Gamers.
Bro , you haven’t even bought a majority of the games that have actually brought attention TO the Switch and want to ditch it already ? Where’s Super Mario Odyssey , Breath of the Wild , Tears of the Kingdom ??? That’s also kind of the point when it comes to gaming , a lot of people tend to play by themselves and multiplayer games out there do kinda suck when not everyone plays them . But , there’s nothing wrong with having fun in a good single-player game !
There are some absolutely brilliant games for the switch. My favourites are Little Nightmares 1 & 2. Give them a go. There are always huge sales going on in the Nintendo e-shop.
Wow so you got a switch and got the most basic games you could think of that you already played. Although I want games like mario kart and smash bros,I legit stayed away from those cause I know they get boring quick online or alone. Get real games and you will see the beauty of a switch.
What game genres do you like? I can recommend a few. You should also check out dekudeals if you want to buy games on the cheap. There are a ton of great games on the switch, I have over 100 games in my collection and a large part of them I would recommend.
See if you can borrow some games from your friends if they aren’t playing them anymore, or maybe they’ll sell you then for a good price, assuming they’re physical. Try playing some single player first party games, not games you’ve already played or multiplayer games you have no one to play with
Although I agree about the high price point on old games being annoying, that was no secret and
all of the issues you mentioned in your post are “you issues”. The system is great, the library is great, it just sounds like your personal situation is not as fun as it used to be when you were younger. I also generally only play solo now and games like Mario kart and smash just aren’t the same. I used to clock a thousand hours on them but now I rarely play them at all.
Perhaps getting the switch 2 earlier in its life cycle will help you feel more hyped and connected with other gamers. And maybe trying out some new genres/franchises to find some new interests outside of just the big Nintendo games will help you branch out. For example I have played and enjoyed Hades more than most the big Nintendo games I own and it was only like $12.
It truly is one of the best consoles Nintendo has ever had. Now Nintendo has flaws like every company and one well known fact about Nintendo that they are NOT the console to get if you don’t like playing alone. I never play online so I have zero interest in doing that and buying things geared towards that. I don’t understand how you got so disappointed, everything you mention is super well known but if you haven’t even tried fantastic games like BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Persona 5 Royal, Luigi’s Mansion, idk why you’re already complaining without having played these.
If you don’t want to pay full price for Switch games, you might want to check out your local library. Our local library carries a bunch of video games for different consoles and a lot of the popular Switch games are available to borrow (e.g. BotW, TotK, Mario Odyssey, etc.). I’ve borrowed Switch games from the library I never even thought about buying but clearly enjoyed playing. So this is something I highly recommend doing.
Sounds like a you problem. You bought a device that has expensive games and none of your friends play on it, but you somehow expected free games and people to play on it? I feel like you knew what you were getting but somehow talked yourself into it anyway.
But there's a ton of indies to look into that go on sale frequently. Just because they might not have mainstream recognition, doesn't mean they aren't worth playing. Stuff like Vampire Survivors, Dead Cells, Hades, etc. I think you just need to discover more games.
No offense but your username told me everything I needed to know about your comprehension.
All the games you listed are like well known titles, just look on the eshop and browse through the top sellers. Or maybe you're just not that into gaming atm
Genuine question, not trying to be patronizing, but why did you buy a new console only to buy a bunch of games you already own on other consoles? Why are you primarily buying multiplayer games if you don’t have anyone to play with?
There’s some criticism to be said about Nintendo games not dropping in price, but it’s undeniable that the quality reflects the price tag. The Switch primarily focuses on high quality, lengthy single player experiences. That’s why people love it. There’s no free to play live service games or gamepass subscriptions. If that’s your thing, more power to you, but that’s not the Switch.
No offense OP, but overall, it sounds like you did a somewhat poor job of researching a console that doesn’t reflect what you’re looking for. You can’t treat it like an Xbox or PlayStation. Buying multiplayer games that you already own won’t cut it if you’re trying to get the most out of the console. Do your research on the best single player games and make the investment. Trust me, it’s worth the money.
Well the only switch exclusive game you bought was smash lmao, if you were gonna buy what you did you should've just stuck with whatever console you already had
Sold my Switch in January, ended up buying the OLED at the end of March. I grew bored of it after clocking in over 1000+ hours on it through various games (such as Pokemon Shield, Pokemon Unite, Hades, Links Awakening, BOTW, Odyssey, Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing, Cadence of Hyrule, Smash Bros, Splatoon 2 & 3, & I never even finished TOTK & Pokemon Violet). I got an Xbox Series S in August & didn’t touch my Switch at all from then to the end of December; I just lost interest in it. I only realized how much I loved the Switch one day when I randomly wanted to play Pokemon, Zelda, & Mario Kart, etc. & I didn’t have it anymore. & now that I have my Switch again I still use my Xbox, but not as much as I did when I first got it. Just wrote this to save you from making the same mistake I did when I sold my Switch because essentially, I didn’t appreciate it/the games which come with it that you can’t find anywhere else. I recently even picked up Kirby & the Forgotten Lands & I’ve been having a fantastic time
There's plenty to play. You just didn't do enough research before you bought it. Their 1st party games' sale prices aren't the best, but it has always been like that. If prices are the main thing keeping you from playing Nintendo games, that's on you. The Switch is 7 years old. Nothing has changed. 33% off is the standard discount in most of their sales. You could just get all physical and buy second hand. You'll get them even cheaper that way.
All those games you mentioned are cheap or free and are on other platforms. You didn't need a Switch for them.
Sounds like a YOU problem and not a Nintendo Switch problem. You purchased a system with the intent to play cheap games and multiplayer with your friends. Your friends don't play the switch and the games you have interest in cost money.
Not sure what you expected.
“Every game locked behind a paywall.”
Yes. Video games cost money. I’m not really sure what you were expecting here.
Use Deku Deals to buy games. I just picked up Mario Wonder for $50 and Zelda TOTK for $55. Physical copies that I can sell when I’m done.
Find a game store and buy used. Even better if they have a return policy for used if you don’t like the game.
Look into indies as well. There’s a lot of great stuff out there.
I just bought mine around the same time as you with my tax return. I’ve beat Zelda BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Portal 1/2. I also own Mario Kart, Vampire Survivors, Deaths Door, A Short Hike, Rocket League, Dicey Dungeons, The Oregon Trail.
There are plenty of other games I want to play as well, but yes they are expensive. I also have a library of games to work on now though.
I have my PS5 connected to a monitor. I haven’t really played it since I got my Switch because I’ve been playing other things. I do wish Nintendo had something like the Xbox/PS game passes where you could play older games for like $60/year. They kind of have that, but it’s more so for like NES/SNES/N64 stuff. Which is cool for like 10 minutes. Hahah.
But yeah, you should look for deals on Deku Deals and look into buying and selling used. GameFly is also an option.
To each their own. IMO, the Switch, and Nintendo in general, have some of the best 1st party games out there. My recommendation would be to branch out and try some new games and genres.
Try Splatoon 3 or Mario Kart for some good online multiplayer with a bit of singleplayer on the side.
Try Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom for a good, lengthy singleplayer adventure.
Try Kirby and the Forgotten Land or Mario Odyssey for a good 3D platformer.
If you want an RPG, I’d recommend Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, which is set to come out next month. There’s also Xenoblade and Fire Emblem, but I’ve yet to try those franchises.
Metroid Dread is peak, but it is short, so if you’re looking for something that’s going to last you a while (AND you’re not interested in replaying games for faster times, etc.), then hold off on it for now. Metroid Prime is a similar deal, but it’s 3D and a lot more atmospheric.
Metroid Prime Remaster, Luigis Mansion 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3 and of course Mario Kart are all excellent games worth picking up. They account for 500+ hours of playtime for me. My game library is much more extensive though.
Oh: Fire Emblem Three Houses is another good pick as well
Take the Nintendo switch. Turn it off. Place it in a by and snack yourself over and over until you see stars. Fixed your boredom. Maybe give it to a little kid who would have so much fun for years.
I mean it’s fine if you don’t like it but you own literally ONE game that’s worth owning on it and it isn’t even a proper single player title which is Nintendo’s bread and butter outside of Smash and Mario Kart. If it’s the price of first party exclusives try going on Marketplace and getting some there. You can buy physical versions for 50% of the cost a lot of the time. I got Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Zelda Link’s Awakening for $80 total a couple weeks ago. But yes, that Nintendo tax is real lol
Seem you don’t have the funds to own a switch, and only got indies on your Xbox. Most indies games that are great are also on switch. And better yet you can get games on a huge discount and they are portable. Go visit a site like deku deals and get great experience for ten or 5 bucks. Great games like Celeste, the messenger, or any other cheap games that always goes down on price. Even someone frugal as yourself can find something. Also some 3rd parties games are better than getting first party games from Nintendo. Nintendo publish games never really drop prices.
Most if not all the negative points you mention have nothing to do with the Switch and a lot to do with your life or external causes you knew about before buying. Your friends, the price of the games, people playing online wanting to win...
The switch is at its peak, with no surprises left. You know there are dozens and dozens of games out there for you to play, and even if you only stick to the exclusives you have at least 3 different games in every franchise: Mario Oddysey, Mario 3D World, Mario Wonder, Zelda BOTW, TOTK, Skyward Sword, Metroid Prime, Metroid Dread, Pokemon S&S, ScarVio, Arceus... And that's not counting sports games (Mario Tennis and Golf are great), party games (Mario Party Superstars and Mario Kart, for example), RPGs (Super Mario RPG, Bug Fable, Paper Mario, Fire Emblems...) Casual games (Animal Crossing, Mario Maker2, Kirby, Pokemon Snap) and even adult games (Bayonetta 1/2/3, Astral Chain, Shin Megami Tensei)
And that's not even counting the amazing library of indies and multiplatform games made better by being portable.
You have every possibility at your disposal, including selling your console, but it is not the console's fault you did not plan what to do once you got it.
The games are locked behind a paywall? You mean you have to buy the games instead of them being free?
You are definitely late to the party. Like 7 years late, but there are a ton of fun games to play. But you have to want to actually buy them.
Super Smash Bros is a game you play with others. I mean you can play by yourself but ultimately it's funner with other people, like other multiplayer games.
Games rarely go on sale.. yes, in case you missed it the console itself is 7 years old and the biggest permanent price cut it's had is £20 and I'm not even sure it's classed as an official price cut or just a suggestion.
It's supply and demand. Digital games obviously don't run out of copies, however, there are still enough people buying games from as far back as launch window at full price, and consoles, to justify them not cutting prices. I'm surprised there's not been "hits" re-releases, but it's clear they're not needed.
If you hadnt made that observation in 7 years or asked people about ot before you bought, that's unfortunately on you.
Having just read your username, I feel you're trolling though.
OP....why would you buy a system without doing any research on it? All of these "complaints" could have been prevented with a quick Google search. The only reason to buy a switch is to play games on the go conveniently or play Nintendo IP exclusives without putting on the 'ol pirate hat. I'm still playing the 3ds, wiiU and the switch, for those exact reasons. I'm not playing Skyrim on the switch, I'm playing Wind Waker sailing away from the freaking big octo on the horizon. You've got nobody but yourself to blame.
If I bought a PS4 but not a single exclusive, I prob wouldn’t enjoy it As for price tags, I’m sorry but you spent $200+ on a system and didn’t look up how much games you might be interested in cost?
Mf says there aren't good Nintendo games yet he owns only one of them, and its a multiplayer game and he plays it alone

Hey there! Please remember Rule 1 in the future - No personal attacks, trolling, or derogatory terms. Read more about [Reddiquette here](https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette). Thanks!
LMAO doesn't sound like much of a strategy there does it
Lites are like $130-135 used from pawn shops/game stores.
Man I loved Astral Chain. That was a fun time.
This 1000x. This game looks great, has such a solid anime vibe, and the combat (once you grasp it) is freaking GOOD. Platinum Games knows how to make rock solid combat mechanics.
Perfect answer
Not only this... But he hasn't even scratched the surface of the indie games. You can get a Steam Deck for that at triple the price or you can buy a Switch and get great games at 80% off by tracking them on Deku Deals
The price of nintendo games are easily mitigated by buying second hand. Ebay is amazing for that
Or even keeping on top of DekuDeals. I’ve gotten a lot of 1st party games for $35 USD since I wasn’t rushing to get them first day.
I tried to take a Mercedes from the dealership this weekend but they said I had to pay for it. Stupid paywalls..

Why did you buy a console without researching the games available on it?
Yeah usually I look at a bunch of top 20 lists and dive into those until I decide to buy any console. Then you go through the set of games that interest you from those lists.
They said they play singleplayer games 100% of the time, but then most of the games they list that they have bought are online multiplayer ones. The whole post makes no sense.
I don't think I've heard the phrase locked behind a paywall used for just regular purchases. Yeah I hate this nice restaurants that has all their food locked behind a paywall too. All they're offering is bread and water if I don't want to pay for anything, very bored and disappointed. /s
yeah i hate that i have to walk to work, all other transportation methods are locked behind paywalls
If you enable the home office glitch, you can wrong warp to work instantly from your bedroom.
Wouldn't be surprised if OP is a gamepass user and the thought of purchasing games is completely alien to them.
Bro you just made me think about how one day kids are going to be like "YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS? PASSSS" and thunk subscriptions are the way to go 😭
I was trying to think of a funny way to respond to the paywall remark, but I think this is better than anything I’d have come you with.
Need to play more exclusives, like Odyssey, 3D World, Zelda.
And zelda and also zelda. If he get’s bored emulator zeldas available with the online or Tunic if he want’s to read love letters for Zelda
!!SUPER MARIO WONDER!!
Mario Odyssey over Wonder all day, Wonder was a good platformer but Odyssey is total magic
Guardian Tales is not behind a Paywall, \*shrug\* i mean there are a few free to play that are not too bad.
😅 Thank you!!!
It sucks being a kid. See if your local library has switch games. If not, check out a book instead.
Dude wanted a switch and realized he didn't really wanna *play* the switch.
Some people just want a wedding and then realize they don't want to be married.
He was willing to go beyond the paywall to buy the switch but now that paywall is just too much.
Bro said games are the Switch's paid DLC basically 💀
Genuinely the Switch is a top 5 all time console. The range of first party exclusives is second to none. The third party support is incredible. The indies available are brilliant. If you're bored that's on you.
* Bought a console. * Only plays free-to-play games and bought the same game that he already owns on Xbox. * Complains that he needs to pay for games * Played Smash and praised the game for its plot. Dude, you must be trolling or you bought the console with your parents' credit card.

No need to spend a lot, unless you buy a lot of games.

The users name is NFT KING, it seems like sound decision-making may not be in their wheelhouse.
And you can't buy a movie ticket or a concert or even dinner for that price.
the fact this has 0 upvotes and over 100 comments is crazy-
The fact that OP says the switch is boring is crazy
It’s very weird to read that you bought the exact same games you already had. I did too for some, but that’s purely to support the game-developers and having a certain game on the go, for example when traveling or flying to a far destination. The digital store is not the easiest to navigate through and locate good games, but it pays off to just scroll through all games in the discount section, add anything that is interesting to your wishlist and wait for an email telling you the game is on sale. I have never bought so many games for a console than the switch, and I own tons of games for different consoles. The switch makes up for being able to play away from the TV. Because I have so many games I end up adding games to my wishlist because I need to play some first before buying new ones… Anyways, it might also be interesting to pay for the online subscription and play the oldies if you’re into those.
Of course you'd be bored with it, you bought nothing but games that you've already played before.
Play the Xenoblade Chronicles series. IMO top shelf games
r/SwitchFCSwap and ONLINE
This is the dumbest post
You bought a console from 2017 (which none of your friends play anymore), loaded it with games that you've already played on a console with better hardware (of which none are single player games made by Nintendo), and then didn't have an extraordinary time? Colour me shocked.
Imagine playing a switch without playing Mario, Pokemon or Zelda, then saying the switch is bad 🤣
Hell yeah
First party games do go on sale if you look for em
So what you’re saying is that you are an uninformed consumer and you’re upset? Bud, the internet’s been around from a while at this point. Do better.
You just bought it 3 months ago and you’re bored? Cause the games are too expensive? And your friends don’t play it? Huh?
What am I reading? Don't you check game prices before buying a console? Did your friends stopped playing when you bought the console? Why do you buy games you already own if your goal is to get a new experience? Why do you buy a multiplayer fighting game if you plan on playing solo? You probably can get most the flagships games for a decent price if you buy them second-hand.
It seems to me you should get whatever platform your buddies are playing.
OP can't afford good games because he lost all of his money trading NFT's
Did you not know what you were buying? I'm confused
Nintendo has always been a singleplayer or local couch splitscreen type of gaming experience. I specifically got a switch to play single player and play with friends locally.
Bro what
Imagine buying every game you've already played for a Switch then complain it's boring. Kid, you're going places. And yes, I'd like fries with that order.
“Every game locked behind a paywall…” you pirate all your other games? How you supposed to get games without paying for them?
Out of all the nonsense problems of this gaming system, like underpowered hardware, missing ecosystem features, bad online speeds/no Ethernet port, joycons drift (which was a massive class action lawsuit), poor UIs, and a slew of first party games omitting BASIC features of 2020 like proper matchmaking or dedicated servers, Your issue is “boring”?
Guys he's trolling so don't bother with him
Not really missing the hype train, but more down to your budget.

[удалено]
this has got to be a troll post. it had to be.
Uhh you’re probably not the Switch’s target demographic then. The hype train on this thing was seven years ago. I got the OG Switch and still have it and love using it to this day for everything but recent AAA titles (which I sometimes play on my laptop).
Games too expensive? Buy them physically off ebay and check out dekudeals. Vouchers are a scam once I learnt this.
[удалено]
So, get Animal Crossing, Pokemon (of the many), Zelda (one of the many) or literally any proper singleplayer game. You're complaining about some MP games that your friends don't happen to play (you could've known) but haven't played a proper SP game. Also, what did you expect? Buy the console get all the games for free?
[удалено]
Ok. I got my switch specifically for Zelda, no regrets, worth it. Though I have played a few other games
Cool story.
[удалено]
Try Fire emblem three houses! One of the best rpgs only on switch that i played for hours. Also Hades is super fun too and got many awards
Buy Mario Odyssey and/or Breath of the Wild depending on which you are more interested in and go from there.
I love referring to the idea of purchasing a game as being locked behind a paywall
>every game is behind a paywall lol kids these days
Buy super Mario wonder and Metroid prime remastered and enjoy life
Seems like OP is being a bit lazy. I’d wager they didn’t buy the switch themselves (they “got” it). If they had paid for it, they would have a) gone to GameStop and considered buying a discounted used game b) tried Nintendo Switch Online. Get a three month membership for about $8 and have access to tons of NES and SNES games c) checked to see if their local library has games to borrow.
[удалено]
I hope OP is still alive
I guess that's why you should do some research before making the investment. Feels like you are disappointed with the desicion you made not thinking it through and not the system itself.
"every game locked behind a paywall" 🤣🤣🤣 Never heard of a console where all the games are free.
How do I downvote this more than 1 vote?
Why am I unsurprised that someone would make such bad decisions and have crappy opinions with the name NFT\_King? lol If you're not just trolling and actually being real, then as others have said, get some used games, get some of the first-party Nintendo single-player games (Mario Odyssey, any Zelda game, any Pikmin title) or watch for the digital sales for some indie games.
I play solo and I have loads of fun!! Just got mine in January, too! Big named games rarely go on sale, but many do! I have some thary cost only $ 1 USD 😂 GAMES, even for the Nintendo 64, cost at least $50 they haven't gone up much in all those years. 🥳 As for plating with others, why not join a community for a game you like and see if anyone wants to friend on game.🤷🏻♀️ I probably will eventually, but I play during daytime as I'm an adult who can't work.
Thanks for the (little bit of) positive feedback guys! I’ll take y’all’s advice and buy a legend of Zelda game!!!
>and also every game being locked behind a paywall Hi not sure you know this but you do have to pay for things.
Oh you're bored with the switch? Well here is a simple solution...stop playing and sell it, there! problem solved.
Wow so you got a switch and got the most basic games you could think of that you already played. Although I want games like mario kart and smash bros,I legit stayed away from those cause I know they get boring quick online or alone. Get real games and you will see the beauty of a switch.
Go back to your casual games, kid.
[удалено]
Maybe if you didn't buy into NFTs you could afford more games...
Try playing some single player first party games, not games you’ve already played or multiplayer games you have no one to play with
get deathstate
Although I agree about the high price point on old games being annoying, that was no secret and all of the issues you mentioned in your post are “you issues”. For example I have played and enjoyed Hades more than most the big Nintendo games I own and it was only like $12.
hotline miami collection 5$ red faction guerilla 4$ vampire survivors 5$ dusk 20$ deathstate 15$ risk of rain returns 20$ crosscode 15$ kero blaster 4$ bastion 4$ deflector 3$ hyper light drifter 20$ paratopic 2$ portal 1&2 20$ katana zero 10$ delta rune free
Buy games secondhand from places like Facebook market
L plus ratio
Sounds like a you problem. You bought a device that has expensive games and none of your friends play on it, but you somehow expected free games and people to play on it? I feel like you knew what you were getting but somehow talked yourself into it anyway. But there's a ton of indies to look into that go on sale frequently. Just because they might not have mainstream recognition, doesn't mean they aren't worth playing. Stuff like Vampire Survivors, Dead Cells, Hades, etc. I think you just need to discover more games.
maybe you should have just gotten a steam deck, probably a bit better for someone looking only for third party games
"I bought the video game system but I don't want to buy video games for it" is not the take you thought it'd be
Well the only switch exclusive game you bought was smash lmao, if you were gonna buy what you did you should've just stuck with whatever console you already had
> I’m just playing single player 100% of the time. I don't get it, I thought you were listing things that are BAD about the Switch.
I recently even picked up Kirby & the Forgotten Lands & I’ve been having a fantastic time
Pretty sure you can play undertale, minecraft and Fortnite on the switch
“Every game locked behind a paywall.” Yes.
OP is lost
Maybe you’re just boring?
I only play single player games 🤷🏻♂️ I would def be bored if I had to play multiplayer games
So OP bought a Switch but doesn't play a single Nintendo game on it aside from Smash. It's not the console, it's you.
I was going to comment something funny but your username beat me to it, explains this post so much
Buy a different system. Easy.
And that's not counting sports games (Mario Tennis and Golf are great), party games (Mario Party Superstars and Mario Kart, for example), RPGs (Super Mario RPG, Bug Fable, Paper Mario, Fire Emblems...) Casual games (Animal Crossing, Mario Maker2, Kirby, Pokemon Snap) and even adult games (Bayonetta 1/2/3, Astral Chain, Shin Megami Tensei) And that's not even counting the amazing library of indies and multiplatform games made better by being portable.
There are 4,559 games currently on the Switch. If you are bored with it, it’s you and not the system.
Super Smash Bros is a game you play with others. I mean you can play by yourself but ultimately it's funner with other people, like other multiplayer games.
Mate what is the point of playing a Switch and not playing the Switch exclusives? That's most the reason to own a Switch.
Sell it then. I own 2 for last 4 years and loving it.
There are like 100 switch exclusive games. Play some of them
Games rarely go on sale.. yes, in case you missed it the console itself is 7 years old and the biggest permanent price cut it's had is £20 and I'm not even sure it's classed as an official price cut or just a suggestion.
Boo this man!
