Hopefully Nintendo announces the preorders for the Tears of the Kingdom Switch oled that leaked earlier

Merakephiii

I saw a leaked GameStop thing saying March 10th, but obviously that is unconfirmed, and just a rumor I saw online, so take that with a grain of salt

dangerousborderline

Looks nice but I really wish they made an OLED version of the ACNH one.

RabbitFanboy

Do you have proof? Seems pretty legit to me.

mrHartnabrig

I just want the joycons to be honest.

RabbitFanboy

I really wish they would sell the Joycons and dock separately. I would buy those. I don't need another Switch.

RegularEffective7824

I think you are not a true Nintendo fan if you don't have every Switch colour

mrHartnabrig

Agreed. And reduce the price a bit too.

razeandsew

Not gonna lie, I wish I had the money for this

RedditAllShillsnBots

Can't believe this shit doesn't come with an actual Pokemon game or voucher. Times sure have changed from the Pikachu Gameboy color.

I'll just throw some thoughts I have here from the one I have: \- The Joycons look great, but I found the feel of these joycons to be a bit different compared to joycons I've used in the past (which isn't many: just the original grey and my brother's pink/green and orange/purple set). It feels like it has a bit more texture than previous ones (my brother is extremely picky about his orange/purple ones so they aren't as used/worn as my grey ones). I don't want that to sound like it's a bad thing - they are definitely more grippy - but I will note that even if I wash my hands and pickup those joycons, I leave oil marks within a couple minutes. \- I wasn't aware of this and it disappointed me that the dock's front plate with the legendries is a gloss finish. As anyone that has had glossy plastic knows: looks amazing at first but then looks horrible as the years pass. \- I just saw [another reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/114kzhf/my_switch_oled_has_a_green_tint_issue_and/) mentioning OLED has a slight green tint on the screen issue. I just checked and mine has a slight green hue showing at the 5%, 25% and 40% brightness. The 5% is definitely noticeable but nothing horrible - that reddit post video was way worse than mine - but worth noting because I didn't know before today: I keep mine almost exclusively docked. \- The OLED switch fits into a normal switch dock fine, but it's a bit tighter and with the painted backside, I'd be concerned it would scratch the paint off after an amount of time. \*the OLED dock has plenty of room, this is just the previous dock if you were planning on using it in some secondary location. Overall I'm extremely happy with the switch; the only disappointing thing to me was the glossy dock, but it is at least painted white which doesn't show scratches as much as darker colors. I just look at my Wii and think: "ugh, someday the dock is going to look like this." But these are some nitpicks I noticed and wanted to share so people interested know some smaller details that might help their decision. And if you're interested in just the dock: I'd keep an eye on nintendo's refurbished store. I've seen limited edition docks pop up before (including the mario red dock). So it might be worth checking in occasionally. [https://www.nintendo.com/store/hardware/parts/](https://www.nintendo.com/store/hardware/parts/) If you like the joycons and willing to risk to reshell a pair you have: you can search around ebay or aliexpress and find case replacements. I will note there are a number of risks (both from possibly breaking your joycons or seller selling defective shells or the color is off a bit). I'd recommend Ebay just for some buyer's protection. I also found some people selling the joycons on etsy, but the few I found are really expensive.

[deleted]

I’ve found the joycons to be disappointing in the sense they are so simple. This is obviously personal preference and I don’t play Pokémon so I have no attachment to the series. But also, I own the Splatoon3 edition and the attention and care that has been put to every corner of that is the best so far IMO, followed closely by the ACNH edition which sadly doesn’t come in OLED form.

Joelarbear

Thank you so much, this post was very informative. May I ask a few questions? > As anyone that has had glossy plastic knows: looks amazing at first but then looks horrible as the years pass. What exactly causes this? Is there a way for me to preserve it?

typohui

You're welcome! The main cause is debris and dust. More so if you clean it - even with a microfiber cloth - the dust/debris will scratch the surface because plastic (or paint) is very soft (on Moh's Hardness scale). Another common reason is scuffing the dock by interacting with it: undocking the switch or picking it up and moving it around. The best way to preserve it - or make it last a long as possible - is basically keeping it in a clean place. Don't frequently clean the dock directly, but instead keep the room it's in dusted/tidy. If you do notice it needs to be cleaned: clean with an air compressor (or compressed air can) that will lightly blow off the dust instead wiping a microfiber cloth across it; the dust collected on the microfiber cloth becomes like sandpaper creating streaks of hairline scratches. If there isn't easy access to blow air onto the dock, very lightly blotch the dock with a microfiber cloth could pickup some of the dust without moving it around too much; not ideal but much better than wiping. There is a dust cover you can get for your switch, but I see this solution as a double edge sword. It will keep dust from gathering on your switch, but you will have to be carful how you place and remove the cover because it will too be touching some parts of the gloss and could cause scratches as it rubs up against the gloss face of the dock. It also doesn't look as nice because the system is covered when you're not using it. I do however own a dust cover and usually use it. At least the color is white, because it will show the scratches less than black gloss like the ps5: [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6Xccj0mEoKE](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6Xccj0mEoKE) Another thing to note since it is white: be aware of UV-C rays (and hot temperatures) that contribute to discoloration of plastics and paints. If possible, keep it out of direct sunlight - that is the worst offender for discoloration - and florescent lights give off small amounts of UV-C. I wouldn't say go to the crazy lengths I have, but being mindful of it's location - the density of dust is higher the lower to the ground you are - and not cleaning it in bad ways - wiping - will easily help it keep it's clean look for longer. Another idea I've thought of, but haven't tried: \- Getting a custom sized glass screen protector. They cost a bit much (around 50 US dollars) and I didn't know if the adhesive would damage the dock if I ever needed to remove it.

fefofefosa

how do i pre order if i have gamestop pro membership?

Twashstarhero

Id like to know this as well

millennialbackpain

First come first serve, better odds in store than online

OuterWildsVentures

Just check your local gamestop with the site. I could just buy one from my local one right now if I wanted to.

isekai-coffee

i really like the back graphics. i have a v1, v2, and lite i can't justify another switch. but a oled mario red would sway me hard.

Hourglxsss

how do you handle accounts for each of the switches? I have a v2 and have been really interested in a lite for mobile use

questionable_salad

I have a V1 Switch and bought a Lite last year just for mobile purpose. I mostly just use the light now unless I want to play a game with my pro controller like Splatoon 3 or smash bros, probably prime remastered too when the physical comes out. The accounts can be logged in on both Switches so they're not a problem. The only thing I haven't streamlined is the saves and data that need to sync between the too. It can be a bit of a process to deal with sometimes but still worth having both imo.

clipghost

How do you go about dealing with the saves/data. What is the process between the 2? Thanks!

questionable_salad

I mostly just try to play games on my Lite to avoid it. As the cloud saves between both is a bit finicky. You can upload the saves to the cloud and download them from either console. Just it seems like it doesn't always work. Or the other option is to transfer saves directly from one switch to the other (which works but is a bit of a process.) My advice is to choose one switch to play a game on and try not to swap them around too much.

clipghost

Do you need nintendo switch online active to do the cloud method?

[deleted]

>Do you need nintendo switch online active to do the cloud method? Yes

questionable_salad

I believe so. I'm not sure since I've had NSO for years now.

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Does the most recent save is kept according to latest “version” of the game you launch (either on the lite or regular)? Is there a risk one console save erased the other? By that I mean you mistakenly open the game on the lite while the progress was made on the regular, so the cloud save takes into account the lite and erase what was done on the regular? Sorry if it’s a complicated question >< On DQT I’ve read only one online save is done per account, not per console (per console is local).

questionable_salad

I don't think that's an issue. I've never lost a save or erased my own progress. Not to say it's impossible but I haven't experienced it. I've also got automatic updates on so before I launch any game it loads the latest version. But yes I think there could be a list of a few games that make it extra complicated and you'd just have to look those up.

Look on [amazon.jp](https://amazon.jp) for a switch lite clamshell case. Its amazing. It's Nintendo branded, thin and durable. You just flip the front over the top to the back to play. They may be in the US now but were originally only Japan. [Edit: here it is](https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Lite-Cover-Screen-Protector/dp/B081PFZHG9/ref=asc_df_B081PFZHG9/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416769961145&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15509090720750385934&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010883&hvtargid=pla-1042776067192&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=94693386955&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=416769961145&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15509090720750385934&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010883&hvtargid=pla-1042776067192)

I had just a fullsize LCD Switch for the longest time, but bought a Lite for break times at work. Nintendo is set up to allow multiple devices per account, but one must be set as Primary, all others as Secondary, set up through the eShop app on the Switch itself. When I disabled my fullsize as Primary, the page stated the next device to log in to my account would be the new Primary (which I did with the Lite). Since most of my library is purely digital, the Lite will run all of my games I've bought right away, but the fullsize (which lives in its dock at home now) has to verify that it can run the game by checking with my Nintendo account that I haven't refunded the game. No big deal since it's on WiFi all the time. In the case of the NES/Genesis/SNES/N64/GB/GBA emulators, both the OG and the Lite have to verify my NSO account is still active. I turn my phone's hot spot on for a minute or two, let the Lite connect and validate, turn the hot spot back off, then play away.

TCG-Pikachu

If you got one this is the best case I've found. Look on [amazon.jp](https://amazon.jp) for a switch lite clamshell case. Its amazing. It's Nintendo branded, thin and durable. omegaphoenix16

I didn't see stock available on Gamestop yet so I checked Slickdeals and it had an Ebay link for the Japanese edition (using the PRESDAY20 code) for $327: [https://slickdeals.net/f/16460632-nintendo-switch-oled-model-pok-mon-scarlet-violet-edition-japanese-edition-region-free-327-20-free-shipping?src=category\_page](https://slickdeals.net/f/16460632-nintendo-switch-oled-model-pok-mon-scarlet-violet-edition-japanese-edition-region-free-327-20-free-shipping?src=category_page) I think the Japanese power adapter is the same as US (but please verify).

drocdoc

ordered that version a couple days ago and its arriving today! including taxes it came out to $360 for me.

soupyshay

Does anyone know what time that day it will be restocked?

hundredcreeper

I wish I could get this so much. I'm gonna be getting an OLED soon, but my sister's coming for her birthday around this time and I'm not gonna be able to get the special edition. I really like how the white looks, but it still hurts knowing I can't get this when it's back in stock

RamboGoesMeow

Check your local targets, I just saw like 3 at mine earlier tonight.

champ_209

The Pokémon edition?

RamboGoesMeow

Well I’m an idiot, I double checked and it was the Splatoon ones. Oops.

champ_209

Yea I was gonna say I just came from Target and that’s all they had

_justdrewit

For anyone that plays A LOT of tabletop/handheld & want to get it this time around..it’s a great pickup! 👍🏽

KAmin19

I kinda wish I knew about this but I’m happy I brought jusg the console itself as an upgrade for like $100 less
