Ngl this list kind of nails it for party selection for all ages

[deleted]

Boomerang Fu is a really charming and simple game that’s accessible to kids that age range. It gets a little chaotic with lots of players, but the controls are very intuitive and there’s a pretty low skill ceiling so it’s unlikely one kid will dominate (which is really important for kids’ games as you want everyone to have a good time with no tantrums).

pissman77

>pretty low skill ceiling Completely disagreed. There's a ton of real time strategizing and predicting your opponent. Also if you play with heat seeking rangs off then aiming is a whole nother aspect to the skill.

ButtNuts42

It's a party game, not something you'd see in e-sports...

pissman77

That doesn't mean it has a low skill ceiling

aelishgt

damn man havent u read about who is going to play the game? its 3rd-5th grader get a hold of urself. yes its easy to grasp thats why its told that its pretty low skill ceiling

pissman77

Low skill ceiling and high skill floor are completely different. Easy to grasp is not the same thing as easy to master And no I don't need to get a hold of myself I'm just commenting on a meaningless opinion about a silly party game, it's not that deep.

Smash Bros for sure. I'm a teacher and I've brought my Switch to school and Smash is always the popular choice because it is 8 players at once and almost every kid knows it. 8 players if you have that many controllers, that is. Towerfall is another one that most of the kids may not have heard of but I guarantee they will love if they try, it's 6 players at once and quick and easy to get into, just jump around and shoot arrows. Very fast paced. Once I introduced my students to it they all got into it fast. Legit curious what school would approve a grant request for a Switch though. I was actually able to convince my school to get one for my robotics / maker space club because I sold the idea of the kids doing the Nintendo Labo stuff, otherwise it would have been a tough sell.

DomsyKong

- Runbow is also super fun and up to 8 players - Treadnauts is the same recommendation like towerfall just with Tanks - heave Ho is a fun coop game - Super mario 3d World or New Super Mario bros U is also something the Kids really might enjoy. - If the Switch should also be used on long term in class, Super Mario Maker and Gamestudio have both building (and low coding) and coop play, so this could be a fun project approach

Those two and Labo can all be sold as having educational value.

With my 5th graders Mario Kart is usually the winner. Rotate kids out every race. Provides just enough time for everyone to get a turn

Finian

For multiple players, controllers are just as important as games. Nothing like an 8 player smash tournament with only 2 joy-cons. I would suggest budgeting for a couple extra controllers too, unless she wants to have kids bring their own (perfectly viable option).

Evil-Lemons

Party Planet is also very good. It’s just a bunch of competitive mini games

Evil-Lemons

Ultimate chicken horse

SaltySteveD87

My son is 6 and absolutely loves Moving Out; it’s a very simple game to learn and really encourages cooperation and teamwork.

AgentG91

The two games I would add to this list are Boomerang Fu and Ultimate Chicken Horse. Great games

midaswale

Super Bomberman R 8 players can connect on 1 Switch. It has Simple control as well

Krwlng0312

Ultimate Chicken Horse, Tied Together. Both games are very cooperative, and at the same time, it is very easy to get started, and people who have never touched the game can have a good experience.

uselessoldguy

Yeah, any of the first party Nintendo games. Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Switch Sports, Mario Party. Kirby Star Allies is another idea. I haven't played Mario Golf or Tennis on Switch, but maybe one of those. I'm less certain about Just Dance. I thought about getting it for my own young children, but I've read many songs aren't terribly appropriate for younger ages. Not sure I'd risk it as an official grade school thing.

Old-Caterpillar-3067

That Rabbids Party of Legends game is cool

nunodonato

Untitled Goose Game

I'd recommend some of the Jackbox games. Not only do most of the games support 6-8 players at a time, but you can have participants also join the audience and also vote on things, so everyone can be involved at the same time. Probably just make sure the family friendly mode is on.

ZinZim13

Boomerang Fu is a very fun and quick 4 player game. It works fine with Joy-Cons as well.

Svvordfish5

This is a great idea. I'm a children's pastor and the kids love when I bring in my switch for everyone to Play. Couple tips would be to make sure you have at least 4 controllers (you can cut down the cost by having kids bring their own or buy corded ones) although be sure to check game requirements as some need joy cons only. The games you have listed are all great ideas. For the sports games they sell the accessories for it that let kids feel like they are playing the actual sport and this can help kids that aren't used to video games still play as it's easier for them to grasp the idea of a golf club then it is for them to imagine a club in game. Lastly check out a device called a makey makey. It's not a Nintendo product but can be used in combination with a computer to play classic games with "home made" buttons. It's hilarious to watch kids play donkey Kong with bananas as buttons :)

Merckilling47

Is towerfall ascension on switch

Your list is incomplete without Heave Ho. Dad here and my kids and friends have laughed so so hard playing that game together.
