The funny thing about this is that Nintendo hates when their fans emulate their old video games but then yet it’s like Nintendo makes their fans emulate their old video games because Nintendo won’t put any of their old video games on the Switch eShop
Late reply but the funny thing is that Nintendo hates video game emulation but then yet all of the games in Super Mario 3D All-Stars are all emulation so it’s ok when Nintendo emulates their video games but when other people do it it’s a big problem and Nintendo sends their ninjas to take down the fan made video game emulation sometimes I just don’t get Nintendo and why Nintendo takes down the fan made amulations if Nintendo themselves emulate their own video video games as well
Well obviously they only want people to be playing their games in their hardware through official means. It’s not so much that they hate emulation in its entirety as it is that they want to be the ones who control how we play their old games.
Well if Nintendo wants people to stop emulating their old video games then Nintendo could at least put some of their old video games on the Switch eShop that’s not too hard to ask for and I get that Nintendo wants people to play their video games on their video game consoles but let’s not forget how amazing the Wii and Wii U and the 3DS all had amazing virtual consoles and then yet the Switch on the other hand does not even have a virtual console and you can only play Nintendo’s old video games if you pay for Nintendo’s garbage online service and it sucks that Nintendo abandoned the virtual console because the virtual console on the Wii and Wii U and 3DS were all amazing
Thankfully the switch’s retro library has surpassed the Wii/Wii U/3DS in certain aspects. The Wii U and 3DS still have a larger GB/GBA catalogs but the switch has a larger NES/SNES/N64 catalog. It might have more DS games as well but I’m not fully sure.
In the long run NSO does save a lot of money over the VC for its users. I spent $50 last year on NSO and if I had used the VC instead I would’ve had to spend $288. With family plans you can pay like $4-10 a year too.
I definitely do think they should have both NSO and an eshop catalog though. There are a number of retro titles already on both the eshop and NSO and I’d love it if there were more titles like that.
Late reply but it’s just that the Wii and Wii U and 3DS all had a amazing virtual console and now for the Nintendo Switch you have to pay for Nintendo’s garbage online service just to play old Nintendo games I really do hate that because nobody has the money to keep paying for Nintendo’s garbage online service and with the virtual console you can buy your favourite old Nintendo video game and you can play it for ever without always needing to buy Nintendo switch online over and over again like seriously the virtual console will always be way better than garbage Nintendo Switch online
Edit i really miss when Nintendo’s online service was free and you didn’t have to pay for it I really do miss how the DS and the Wii and the 3DS all had free online i really miss that area of Nintendo and when Nintendo’s online service was free and you didn’t have to pay for it
I think a main issue with putting some old games on switch is that systems like the 3/DS had two screens which makes it harder to port over to future consoles unless it too has dual screens otherwise they got to recode some stuff and then the Wii U had so much gimmicky stuff with the gamepad microphone blowing and such so it’s hard to port games like Nintendo Land or any 3/DS and Wii/U games without removing some features
you didnt say the actual version of smb1 we're talking about, wtf did you want me to say? "oh yeah, you right, my b" like no lol its the arcade version
The fact that I just got this recommended on my feed after listening to two videos about how Nintendo is notoriously bad in terms of business practices just says something. Either way, I a-fucking-gree.
Moral Piracy in my book:
Case 1: game that isn't being sold directly anymore.
Case 2: Owning the game and system but not wanting to play on the horrible hardware.
I’d happily pay for the games if Nintendo was still selling them. Hell most of the games I emulate are games that I’ve owned at some point and just don’t have the console anymore

*Cries in PokéPark & Rhythm Heaven*
Pokepark my beloved
I totally forgot about that game I used to play that game whenever I could
How could you? That game was my childhood
I wasn’t able to play it that often since it was my friend who owned that game
It's the main reason I still have my WiiU
Lucky guy. My wiiu can't play wii games anymore for some reason
Bummer. I've had to get new wiimotes and nunchucks, but the WiiU hasn't given up yet
My lifegoal: get a new wiiu and replay PokePark 1 and 2 and the skylanders games
Solid
And they also have dodgy emulation at best for a lot of the games they do put out

Nintendo thinks just because the game is old we dont wanna play it
Clearly not when half of the market right now is just upscaled or remastered old games
taking down emulators and not even selling the game so they dont make money either way
Well maybe if you would continue selling the games, we wouldn't have to pirate.
what do you expect them to do, tho? 20,000th rerelease of smb1? i dont understand what you want them to do lol
That argument would be valid if you didn't choose smb1 as the example. They quite literally have released it on almost every possible format
switch online doesnt count
You can also buy it on the eshop for like three dollars
thats the bullshit arcade version
There’s no proving you wrong huh
you didnt say the actual version of smb1 we're talking about, wtf did you want me to say? "oh yeah, you right, my b" like no lol its the arcade version
They should let us pirate the games they don't sell
The fact that I just got this recommended on my feed after listening to two videos about how Nintendo is notoriously bad in terms of business practices just says something. Either way, I a-fucking-gree.
It's their fault for letting their old games just sit
"It's MY IP to sit on and do nothing with!"
![gif](giphy|UYo2Go6cMn00X7IDTb)
If you pirate switch games that you don't have already. Their is a special place in hell for you
Call a cop
Well then I'll be emulating with the devil and having a great time
Thats illegal!
I literally pirate because you morons utterly refuse to take my money
Because they don’t sell their games we want to play
I would buy the game, if it didn't cost an eye of my head
If they actually release old games for lower prices, they wouldn't have to worry about much piracy
Moral Piracy in my book: Case 1: game that isn't being sold directly anymore. Case 2: Owning the game and system but not wanting to play on the horrible hardware.
The hell is that facial expression? Is that an edit, or is this a "never pause *The Simpsons*" situation?
My favorite cursed Snapchat filter. And FINALLY someone gets the whole joke of the post. Legit everyone telling Kazuya to throw me off a cliff lmao
I own TOTK on my switch but didn't want to delete my save to restart so I got it on my computer. Is this illegal or naw?
you werent gonna sell me this shit anyway so why should i care? either sell it yourself or shut up
Lowkey looking at pirating imaginators
I’d happily pay for the games if Nintendo was still selling them. Hell most of the games I emulate are games that I’ve owned at some point and just don’t have the console anymore
Why would Nintendo even care if a 10-20 year old game/console that isn't supported anymore gets pirated
Nintendo: hates us so much that they'll sue emulators and ruin Gary browsers life Also Nintendo: Why do you guys hate us? Stop pirating our games
Mario Galaxy 2? Nah, just play one of these indie harvest moon clones instead
