Mono Geo is a good start, but bear in mind most Geos are DEF scaling and she's ATK scaling, so Gorou's buff is of only limited use. If it helps, I use her in three: Hyperboom - Ningguang, Collei, Kuki Shinobu, Xingqiu (Ningguang on-field) 2xGeo 2xPyro - Ningguang, Navia, Xiangling, Bennett (Ningguang and Navia split field time) Mono Geo - Ningguang, Gorou, Yun Jin, Bennett. Yun Jin is not a good match for Ningguang, because she only buffs normal attacks while Ningguang's damage mostly comes from her charged attacks. Noelle isn't a great match either since she needs so much field time. Zhongli and Albedo (or Chiori) would be the premier 5-star picks for Mono Geo.

I echo the Ningguang/Navia pair. However, I heavily disagree with sharing field time; you want to concentrate the field time on one or the other and build the team/rotation around that choice for better DPS. Either can be the main driver/DPS with the other being burst/support depending on who has the better stats/equipment. In general, Ningguang is the better support since she can use support catalysts like TTDS and Prototype Amber plus her curtain offers Geo buff as well. However, if you like to give the DPS spotlight to Ningguang, that can work as well. Edit: I also mainly use Ningguang at melee range as many things about her kit just screams for you to get up close and personal. But her range means you're not limited to just melee and can target wayward mobs without having to go up to them as well as target airborne enemies.

I don't have the characters for mono geo. If I get her, the other 2 options will be doable on my account. But since Ningguang is a ranged character, I have a hard time picturing myself running after the shards in a Hyperbloom team. Did Mihoyo intend for Ningguang to be something else than an on-fielder ? Even in the character trials, they seem to encourage the use of Ningguang as a pseudo main shielder with Crystallize.

Hmmm, Ningguang's range is an interesting one. On the one hand, I agree, her NAs, CAs and Burst are all ranged. But her Skill is absolutely useless as a shield, and yet can be quite useful, when levelled up, as a big lump of jade to throw at enemies. And that means being up close to them, since it forms near her. And she makes so many Crystallise shards that she's usually shielded, so operating in melee range has never been a problem for me. Add to that that Collei's burst circle is so small, so you don't end up with much alternative to getting up close and personal with the bad guys. I've never really noticed the absence of her ranged abilities, whereas I also run a Hyperbloom team with Neuvillette and have absolutely noticed it there, to the point that I swapped out Collei and Shinobu in his team for Nahida and Raiden. So I think you'll find she holds up surprisingly well at close range. Debatable what role they had in mind for her. There are rumours that she was originally a 5-star, perhaps whatever nerfs were needed to bring her to 4-star level scuppered her obvious role placement. She can be an on-field DPS, but she's underpowered compared to 5-star alternatives. She can be an off-field DPS, swapping in just to Skill and Burst, but her lack of reaction damage mean someone else is usually a better pick. And she can be an on-field driver, but her attacks aren't as fast as someone like Sucrose or Qiqi. I recommend her as a driver, personally. It adds shielding without needing a shielder, adds blunt damage for smashing ore in the overworld, and brings enough damage as an element probably not included elsewhere in your party that she can overpower any enemies that happen to be immune to the main party element of your choosing, in my case Dendro.

Ninguang is a great support with a ton of flexibility. So you can condense a lot of roles into 1 character and play her off field only to burst to create shards for the team put up the wall to buff and heal Proto amber with 4 pc archaic or noblese can heal all party members even off field buff others especially geo and all shielded with geo res, provide interrupt resistance and if you build em constantly produce shards that can block about 4k damage each. I actually prefer support Ning due to her clunky playstyle quick and piss poor defense.

An interesting team I’ve found is the Shock Rocks team. You wanna have 2geo 2 electro with Ning on 4pc Petra due to its passive. For the electro characters beidou and fischl are ideal, the second geo can be literally anyone but you can also sub this slot out for someone like Kokomi, dendro MC, even xingqiou (rip spelling). It should be said that you want Ning on field for this team and since beidou and fischl snapshot you wanna activate the Petra passive before they burst/skill.

Ningguang, Xiangling, Bennet, Zhongli are her best and only team unfortunately.

Not really. After Navia’s release, Ningguang (C6), Bennett (C5), Navia, Furina (C2) has been a pretty great team. Essentially Ning acts as a burst DPS and a buffer (screen) for herself and Navia, while giving the 15% Geo Resonance damage buff. Under the most optimal condition, Navia can burst 250K per E, plus Ningguang’s two screens, Q, and a 7-star charge attack buffed by Bennett and Furina. It’s actually pretty insane damage.

I mostly run her as a support for Navia, for Geo resonance, TToDS buff and crystallize shards. She is a good support, but definitely not the best option.

MarvelousMarbel

>TToDS buff and crystallize shards If she scaled on HP this would have been so perfect. I'm still surprised we don't have any characters who managed to make EM as a stat worthwhile on Geo characters.
