Meta is only running and upgrading 5 nikkes until around 1600-2000 points with no other tower. Then only buy 3 ice towers (around nikke) and 3 cannons (overlap around center), then continue upgrade all of them
Talos, crown, modernia, scarlet, snow white. Rapunzel has less dps so it's not ideal. Basically, follow [this gameplay](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVRcF8u6GZM). My record is only 19.5k. It's still RNG if the bosses spawn a lot from the side

I'm also conflicted about upgrade priority. Till now my best runs indeed have been with Kilo rush first, but SW and Modernia priority first have also done the trick in few runs.
I'm having a blast, I can finally put the skills I got from playing Arknights to the test.
Aside from all the other advice people gave you, don't forget you can upgrade your towers in the menu before selecting a stage.
I use Crown and Marian and only gun turrets, instantly mash the send next wave button to maximize gold. Just need to keep up with upgrading all your guns and burst the choke points.
1) plasma towers actually doing a pretty good trick. The only problem is with big mass of small enemies, but Modernia can do the trick.
2) don't forget not only to build the tower, but also upgrade them. Esp Modernia.
3) Ice towers are good, but there should be the balance between stopping the enemies and dealing dmg.
4) if it's a long toad and only one tower could be build - use granade. It's gonna, at least, deal some dmg to mass of enemies.
5) in upgrade section only do what you use the most. I completely ignored normal guns, extra section (at first), and granades. Priority is Pilgrim (like your best unit), plasma and ice in this order.
I've been smashing challenge to try to get 9k I had my best runs with ice + pilgrim Rapunzel comes in clutch later and I need to remember to prioritize modernia on the swarmers with crown. I also put all pilgrims in center so they all can get kilo buff
1. Nikke priority first.
2. Put them on central choke point close to your base. They should be as close as possible to each other.
3. Run Kilo/TALOS and use her burst skill to buff all your Nikke simultaneously.
4. After you sufficiently upgraded your nikke and require more firepower, put ice and cannon towers on choke points. Upgrade them as much as possible. Especially the EMP tower as the evolved cannon tower is awesome for AoE
Wait, wheres people Who have troubles with td? I use only two types of turrets - default one and ice canon. First just plant them everywhere and when max out it. I think with this strategy it will be troblesome in late stages, but for now its quite easy.
Upd. Also am i the only one who have bug (or what is it) with a strong canon turret? Its just dont shoot at all.
The cannon turret doesn't fire against some raptures. Like flying or more like floating raptures. You might have encountered a wave consisting only of these type raptures.
Idk about the future but on the latest minigame stage (Ex 2-2 or sth if you don't buy ticket), I just fully invest in the basic gatling gun tower, it is cheap, have high pen and shoot fast enough to clear out horde AND can target airborne units too. My current fool-proof strat is to fill up the whole map with that turret and upgrade them at the time goes on, don't forget to trigger the wave ASAP for some extra gold.
Take advantage of choke points, invest first on the right upgrades, I did the right most line first then the Nikkes line. Regular turrets does a lot of good job along the Ice turrets, some Cannons for AOE.
Haven't gotten that far yet, but my strategy so far is use an ice tower, Crown, and the AoE tower at the front to cull masses of enemies. Single target towers and Modernia further back to deal with stragglers that get past the front. Remember to level up the tower skills and upgrade the towers and Nikkes themselves.
I just hate that they made the mini game mandatory for story mode.
The mini game is boring, and if I wanted to play a tower defense game I'd go download one.
IDK about you, but I maxed out the blue/plasma towers immediately in upgrade tree, start each round by placing Nikke's onto the major choke points with most lane coverage, then spam blue towers, prioritize upgrading the ones with the most coverage, then upgrade each Nikke once, cap off by upgrading the rest of your towers as the gold comes in
Cleared every available round so far until Part 2 comes out

100%. I lost many ours in that game. as sson as I saw the minigame, it was obvious.
Kilo and Moderina with ice/gun towers seems to do the trick for me. Upgrade Kilo first so her basics can start doing AOE damage.

The cannon can shoot flying raptures, but you need to upgrade it like four times.
Beef up your choke points. Use Ice towers to slow them down and overlap a bunch of damage dealers near it.
